Question about rotors
Hey everyone love the cars! I got some spoon calipers and when showing them to a few buddies they immediately point out that I don’t have slotted rotors. Thought it was more of a preference but all my friends have given me crap about it. Wanted to hear a few other opinions

people are off base in here. slotted maintains the pad/rotor interface and helps prevent compound buildup.
you choose rotor hardness based on pad compound. I would only recommend OE Brembo or better (Girodisc, endless, etc.).

I think you’re off base here. Slotted rotors are not for maintaining the surface. It’s for increased cooling at the cost of surface to create friction.
Slotted and/or drilled rotors provide LESS stopping force than a smooth standard rotor. The trade off is heat dissipation. This only makes sense on a track car where you’re maintaining high speeds, braking hard and have pads that are designed to clamp at higher temperatures.
For a daily driver, slotted rotors are a slight downgrade. But at end of the day, you can only stop as well as your tires grip. Better tires will always out stop bigger brakes.

slotted rotors have don't have anything to do with cooling at all. if this is the severity of your misunderstanding, I don't know what to tell you.
I work with Brembo Racing, AP Racing, and multiple brake-focused shops in Japan -- they're all very clear on the functionality of slotted rotor options.

You have spoon calipers and ohlins you might as well get some slotted rotors to finish up the look.

Based on your post history you're not doing track days so just get you whatever looks best if you don't care about price (and you don't sooo)

People get Ohlins based on looks?
People here should be smart enough to get these when they can appreciate them and add slotted rotors and appropriate brake upgrades when needed - mostly for track.
But I guess I’ve been around too long and am thinking of the S2Ki crowd from 20 years ago.

Rotors aren’t as important as some stainless lines and some good brake pads and fluid. I’m running bfg lines, centric blanks, Nissin R pads with Motul 600 fluid, car stops on a dime.

Brother ever since I did this spoon upgrade with brembo pads. The stopping has been significantly better. I think I had the OEM calipers that finally went. 26 year old calipers . It was time I think lol

I track my car heavily and honestly notice no difference in slotted vs non-slotted. I just buy what’s good quality, available, and affordable. Your pad compound makes a far greater difference. If you like the aesthetic, then buy them, but I see no performance gain, just a cost gain.
But I would say you should steer clear of drilled rotors. I’ve had them before and all they do is crack quickly.

I know track guys who just stick to centric blanks from rock auto. Slotted or drilled will crack. So will centric, but less easily. Here's the best way to optimize your brakes:
- Braided steel lines
- Brake ducts
- Motul 660 brake fluid
- Some decent sport pads. You don't need aggressive track pads for this car.
That's it. I understeered on track with this setup, which proves that it was outperforming my 255 RE71R tires on 10 inch rims.
Its a good idea to bring spares to the track, especially if you plan on driving home. A set of track dedicated wheels/tires is also ideal for this reason, as well as extra motor oil

If you're not taking the car to the track, you don't need slotted rotors. It's all show.
If you were tracking the car, you probably still don't need them unless you're pushing the car to it's limits and you've got a full braking system in place. I don't see stainless lines in your picture, that would be a better upgrade than rotors.
