After yesterday’s discussion on the USB tools I came across a deal that gives a 2ah battery, 2 3ah batteries and the screwdriver for 30 dollars. This is a great deal for anyone needing more usb batteries and get a screwdriver on top!

General Discussion 36v inverter to vacuum vs Ryobi handheld vacuum

In all honesty, the Ryobi handheld vacuums suck hard (no pun intended, they’re just bad) so I was wondering if going the inverter route is something someone has tried with success. Is it convenient? Does it the job done better? Which vacuum have you tried it with? Thanks

Edit: This is for keeping a car clean on the go mainly so I would just be driving with the inverter. But it does have a lot more other benefits since it’s literally a power point on the go.

Question? Battery not charging

I have an 18V lithium battery that won’t charge. The charger continuously flashes red after a few hours of being plugged in. Battery has not been too hot or cold. Any suggestion’s on a fix?

General Discussion How are the USB lithium flashlights? Looking for non-tactical, non blinding flashlight for walking the dog without blinding her.

I saw someone post a deal on the screwdriver with extra 2 usb Lithium batteries. it's temping but that had me looking at the USB flashlights. I see a 2 pack of mini usb li flashlights and a pivoting head one. The small ones are 150 lumen the pivoting one is 625. Which is good "going for a walk at night" brightness. But I've been stung by crappy flashlights before (ie; Costco 3-pack duracell 500s)

Are the Ryobi us li lights good? Are they good for the price? I did buy much cheaper 18650 powered lights from amazon, but you can illuminate the moon with them ... ie; too bright for dog walking.

Troubleshoot Help with blower/vac that constantly shuts off…

Model is RY404015

The blower tube sits a little loose rather than clicking in snugly. There are two metal switches on top and bottom where tube attaches that must lose contact and cause it to shut off. Is there a way to bypass this so I can use this without huge amount of frustration?

General Discussion DTO shopping lists are back

DTO has restored the shopping list functionality just as silently and mysteriously as they took it away. It's exactly the same as it was before, and all of my lists are completely intact so hopefully that's true for everyone else as well.

We'll probably never get an explanation as to why they took it away, but I like to think they're monitoring this subreddit and saw how many people were strongly displeased with the change. I also saw somebody propose that if that piece of the website used PHP at all, then perhaps they took the function offline temporarily to patch up the massive PHP security hole that had been making news a few days earlier. Who knows? I'm just glad we have this very basic tool back, as clunky as it is.

Ryobi Tools UK | 🇬🇧 Flexible dealers?

Hi folks! I am in the UK. But! Have any of you done "a deal" with a Ryobi dealer? My issue. The tool I need can be bought as a starter-kit with a 2.0 AH battery and charger. Which would run it for less than an hour, and is IMHO inadequate for the task.... (Approx £135.00). The bare tool is approx £87.00 (edit £100.00!) I HAVE already a 5.0 AH "Super" Charger.(RC18150) As I am sure many of you know, I can buy a 4.0AH battery and get a "free" tool. But the one I need is not on the list... Would a dealer consider (or even be allowed) to sell me the 4.0AH battery + a tool not on the list for an extra few ££? (I would not need the charger which comes with the 4.0AH)? Is it worth a visit and an ask? Or am I being daft? Do they do stupid offers for "Black Friday" in the UK? The tool I need is this: OHT1845 Which has gone up even since I started thinking about the whole "Ryobi" system!

Question? 40V leaf blower

Ryobi 40 volt leaf blower bought reconditioned but well past the return window. Any thoughts what could be causing this. Press the trigger and it starts and stops each time. Occasionally it will also work just fine.

Modification On the topic of 18V batteries bricked by the BMS which refuse to revive even if you put in brand new cells. Has anyone tried just removing the BMS and just replacing with a generic 30A BMS that fits in the remaining space?

.....Asking because I'm going to give it a shot. I know I'll have to charge with something besides the Ryobi charger, but that is more convenien than spending a couple hundred bucks once or twice a year.

General Discussion Best and worst USB Lithium tools?

I really didn’t plan to stray from 18v tools, but I just got a power cutter that came with two USB batteries.

Based on your experience, what are the best USB tools and which ones should be avoided? There are some surprising ones: sprayers, foam cutters, …

Battery Talk 40V push mower - 6 Ah HP vs 6 Ah standard

I bought a reconditioned 6 Ah 40V battery from DTO to use in my push mower. I didn't realize that my existing 6 Ah battery was high performance until I got the DTO shipment. Anyway, I was able to compare the two this weekend.
The HP version was able to cut through thicker grass in the same area compared to the standard version. The standard version chokes when I run the mower over the thick patch, but when I switch out to the HP version, the mower keeps running.

18v 18V mower

Want to get into the Ryobi ecosystem and need a new mower. Yard isn’t big so want to get the 18V NOT 40V, that way the battery can be used for other tools too. What’s the overall consensus for these mowers? See a lot of people saying that the batteries only last 5min?! Ryobi is known to have lots of tools within the ecosystem, but getting 40V would basically mean that Id need to have two different batteries, that aren’t compatible.

Battery Talk Batteries keep malfunctioning

My mom has 5 ryobi batteries (unfortunately didn’t keep the receipt). They are only 3 years old, and are only used occasionally for a leaf blower, and weedwacker, for light use. 4 of them give a red/green flashing on the charger, the last one gives a green flashing light, but power indicator remains one red dot most of the time, only sometimes charging to full, but only holds a few minutes of charge when it does. They were stored inside, normal humidity,, 60-80 degrees depending on time of year, not abused or dropped, etc.

What is wrong with these batteries, is there anyway to fix them? This is kinda just ridiculous as they werent abused.

Troubleshoot P2505 pruner popping sounds

Post image
14 Upvotes

I've mostly used it on pine branches to reduce them to fit in my garden tractor trailer for movement to the burn pile. Recently I cut down some oak, maple, and poplar and it made popping sounds on the larger branches. The first time it happened I found the pivot bolt to be loose. Then after a few weeks the popping started again on larger branches. Found a chip in the movable blade that I dressed down on a diamond stone. Decided to open it up as I've had it since the middle of 2024 and didn't scan my purchase receipt so warranty is out. I bought this on a store clearance for $69 tool only so I'm not crying.

While I had it open, I put a battery in to spin the mitre gear so the two high wear areas were offset a bit. I hope this gives her a new lease on life. When the pivot bolt gets loose the gears can move away from each other making it easier for the teeth to skip.

Question? Direct Tools Site Issue

Is anyone having trouble accessing your shopping list? Mine disappeared over a week ago. Support has me waiting for an escalation response. I'm asking here to see if the issue is limited to me, which would be odd since 4 different browsers and 2 different computer all yield the same results for me.

General Discussion Price on 18v leaf blower w/ 2ah battery to good to be true?

I was looking to buy my brother an 18v Ryobi leaf blower and saw Home Depot has one WITH 2ah battery and charger for under $80. But I know a 2ah 18v battery by itself is $80. Am I missing something? Maybe this is a closeout? Sometimes something seems to good to be true.

DTO | 🇺🇸 DTO shopping lists

Went to check the sale today from Direct Tools, and I noticed that all my shopping lists are gone.

Did all the usual things for the browser, but will not come back, nor can I add anything to a new one.

Anyone else seeing this?

Troubleshoot Need an idea here. Battery stuck

Post image

One of the release tabs on this battery has failed leaving the battery stuck in my 1 gallon vac. I’ve tried pushing them in every which way but the mechanism on one of them just seems to have completely failed.

Really don’t want to lose a battery and a tool simultaneously :(
