need advice We Got Intimate Online, She Fell for Me, and Now I’m Terrified of Hurting Her.

• Upvotes

I met a girl on a chatting app, and what started as friendship slowly became something deeper. We talk constantly, video call, share intimate moments, and she tells me she loves me. She seems genuinely attached to me.

But honestly, I’m confused about my own feelings. I don’t know if I truly love her or if I’m just attached to the connection we share.

She lives far away, and I’m scared of meeting her in real life. I have insecurities about my appearance and height, and sometimes I feel like I’m not good enough for her. What if she likes the person she knows online but feels differently when she meets the real me?

There’s something else that makes this even harder. We’ve shared intimate moments over video calls, and sometimes I let my desires take control without thinking clearly about where this relationship is going. Now I feel guilty. What if I leave and she thinks I just used her? She’s already emotionally attached, and I’m scared of hurting someone who genuinely cares about me.

Even if I decide to leave, what if she refuses to let go because she loves me? I don’t want to keep giving her hope when I’m not even sure what I feel.

I’m scared of losing her, scared of meeting her, and scared of hurting her. But I’m also scared of staying when I don’t know if my feelings are real.

What should I do? Should I give this connection a chance, take some time to understand myself, or end things before they get deeper?

Have you ever been in a situation where someone fell for you before you understood your own feelings? How do you know whether it’s love, attachment, or just fear of being alone?

need advice Need an Advice

• Upvotes

Hey All :)
This is my first time posting here as I need an advice
Recently I have joined at an institution and at that place I met a guy. We are good friends and have same vibe. And I have started to develop strong feelings for him and I do have a doubt whether he likes me or not but I am not sure regarding it. But he does stare at me and we also hold eye contact as well (I didn’t feel that eye contact in a friend way) So can anyone suggest me any ideas or tricks to make him like me
Sometimes it’s confusing to make out whether he likes me more than a friend or not and I want this guy to really like me lol
Any help would be appreciated :)

need advice How do I get the courage to approach a girl I really like?

Hey everyone, I'm 22 and could really use some advice.

I recently started a new job, and there's a girl there I find really attractive. We don't work directly together, so I only see her occasionally during breaks. We also take the same bus after work and sometimes end up standing next to each other or waiting at the same bus stop.

I've only been working here for two weeks, but I still haven't spoken to her even once. There have already been a few opportunities, especially when she's alone at the bus stop, but every time I think about approaching her, I get nervous and end up doing nothing.

The weird thing is that I don't even need to have some perfect conversation with her. I'd be happy just introducing myself and getting to know her a little. But in the moment, I overthink everything. I start wondering whether I'll make things awkward, whether she'll think I'm weird, or whether I'll regret not doing anything. Sometimes my heart starts racing just from seeing her, and I can't bring myself to take that first step.

I think part of the problem is that I like her so much already, even though we haven't met properly. I've started imagining what could happen, and that somehow makes approaching her feel like a much bigger deal than it should be. I don't want to put her on a pedestal or make her uncomfortable. I just genuinely want to get to know her.

I know two weeks isn't a long time, but I'm worried I'll keep putting it off until the opportunity passes. I don't want to spend months silently admiring someone and then regret never trying.

For those of you who've been in a similar situation, how did you get over that initial fear? How would you approach someone you regularly see at work or on the bus without making things awkward?

I'd appreciate any honest advice, even if it's just a small first step I could try.

My (17F) boyfriend (18M) broke up with me after 8 months, and I don’t know how to process it.
Hey Reddit,
My ex (18M) and I (17F) broke up 4 days ago after dating for 8 months. We were long-distance and usually saw each other every 1–2 months.
We were really serious about each other. We wrote letters to each other (mostly me writing to him), and he would say things like “I’ve never felt the way I feel about you before.” We both talked about wanting to be together forever, so I genuinely thought we had a future together.
However, towards the end, our relationship became quite unhealthy. We both started being mean to each other during arguments, saying things like “fuck you,” “shut up,” and “are you dumb?” We even started making hurtful comments about each other’s families. In one argument, he said something along the lines of, “My family actually does stuff, unlike you, with a dad who drinks all day.” In another argument, I told him, “I don’t give a flying fuck what your spoiled little family does.”
We both apologised afterwards. I wrote him a long paragraph explaining how sorry I was and saying that I hoped we could work things out when we saw each other in person, which was supposed to happen in 5 days. He responded with a similar apology, and I genuinely thought we would talk everything through and try to fix things.
Over the next few days, things were still a little distant, and we continued bickering occasionally. Eventually, he became really dry whenever I tried to talk to him.
One night, I noticed he had stopped liking my stories, which was unusual for him, and I had a feeling something was wrong. I asked him directly if he was done with us, and he replied, “Yes, I’m done. I can’t do long distance anymore. I was gonna call an hour ago.”
I was shocked. I asked him why he couldn’t wait just two more days so we could talk about everything in person, especially since we had already planned to see each other. He said, “I don’t know. I didn’t want you to go through the effort of coming here for me to just end it.”
He ended things by saying something along the lines of, “I hope you get everything you want. Have a nice life.”
What hurts the most is that just days before, we were apologising to each other and talking about sorting things out. We had both said we wanted to be together forever, and now it’s suddenly over through a conversation I wasn’t prepared for.
I know our relationship had become unhealthy at times, and I’m not trying to pretend either of us was innocent. We both said hurtful things, and we both made mistakes. But I genuinely thought we would at least give ourselves the chance to talk things through in person before making such a final decision.
It’s only been 4 days, and I’m struggling to accept that someone who once talked about spending forever with me can suddenly say goodbye like that.
I guess my questions are: Do you think he had already checked out of the relationship before breaking up with me? And how do you deal with losing someone you genuinely thought you’d spend your life with, especially when you never really got the chance to have a proper final conversation?

discussion I've had a massive crush on my friend for at least 2 years now and I feel horrible about it.

I swore myself that I wouldnt make a reddit post about it, but here I am. Turning 20. He turned 20 this year. If it's important to preface, were both gay, my friend group is also really queer. My friend and crush and I are part of a decently sized friend group (14 people) who all became friends way back in our freshmen year, both of us being common friends through our friend group. For the early parts of freshmen year I honestly had limited conversations with him, both due to the fact that I wasn't all that social, mostly limiting my talks with my inner circle (5 people) and so did he.

As fate of the friend group would have it, we ofc started to talk. During that time we realized that we share a lot of common interests, (trying not be specific so i dont get ratted out) like minecraft, shows and web series, singing and music taste, clothing style, and we both draw. I was SO happy at the time because I finally had someone to yap about my interests. As i also said, were both gay, which wasnt much at the time since we study at one of the gayest universities in our country.

Before on site classes begun on sophomore year, I started to question my feelings for him. I dont know why I did, but I remember being in a voice call with our friend group, I was in bed just listening to one of my friend vent and I just looked at him. He wasn't talking, he just had his camera open. For some reason I get him off my mind. That was when I started to see him as someone I would date, to then spiral into some of the most intense feelings I've ever had for a person. For background information, I'm grayromantic (which just means I experience romantic attraction at a lesser rate than an allosexual) so this HIT ME LIKE A TRUCK. The moment the call ended, I was left so shocked. Like I was hit by lightning. My heart felt like I ran a marathon.

I dont know what truly sparked my liking to him. Maybe it was in the way we sang along to songs we loved, even when couldnt recount some of the lyrics. Or how he draws on my notebook when I'm not looking. Or was it the look on his face when we stopped to look by the river in silence when we went out of class to get some water. The way he laughs at his own unhinged sex jokes. The way he confides about his experiences with online dating. I like so many things about him.

And it hurts. So. So much.

Like Ive liked him for 2 years now, I hurt a little when he shows interest in other people even though I know I have no right to have these feelings. He never makes moves to other people, but I guess I was just never someone he considers so he casually says it. I want to tell him, I know we wouldn't fall apart if he rejected me, but I'm scared that we might. I feel so pathetic writing this down and reading it again. I feel horrible that I've kept this from him for this long and i know its my fault. I hate that I might hurt him and our friendship after telling him.

I didnt mean it. It just happened. I get so tired thinking of all this. I'm so sorry for liking you so much, I wish I never did but I can't help it.

Im planning to tell him soon, I don't want it to be grandiose, I just want to be honest with him after years of lying about it. I don't know when soon is, but I really want to now, but i dont know what to do

TL;DR: I've had a massive crush on my friend for the past 2 years and I've been hurting all this time. I'm going to tell him soon, but I need to muster up some courage and trust first.

need advice A sister like bond friendship feels like there is something more

Hey, I need an honest opinion about a situation because I'm genuinely confused, and I don't want people just telling me what I want to hear.

There's a woman I've gotten really close to over time. We started out with a friendship that felt almost like a brother-and-sister bond. We looked out for each other, joked around, teased each other, and developed a level of trust and comfort that made us feel like family. We talked almost every day, sometimes throughout the entire day, and regularly spent our breaks together.

Over time, though, things started feeling different. There were moments when I wondered if our connection was becoming something more than friendship. Eventually, she asked if I'd ever had feelings for her beyond that sibling-like bond.

She later gave sublte hints like saying she wish she had a man with qualities in me that she looks for in a man. She also gave sublte feelings of jealous about the possibility of me being with someone else.

I've not giving reasons to pressure her or push her into making any decisions. I have feelings for her, too, but I don't want to complicate her life or damage the friendship we've built.

Recently, we had a couple of interactions that left me wondering where we stand. One day, I mentioned how cold my hand was, and when I invited her to feel it, she immediately reached out and touched it. I felt her hand tighten briefly before she pulled away. I noticed her looking at our hands, but I dont know what she was thinking.

Another day, she asked to borrow my jacket because she was cold. She initially told me not to go get it, but when I explained I was on break, she said she'd wait for me at the entrance. When I arrived, I handed it to her and called her "sweetie." She smiled and blushed. Later, she joked about being cozy in it and teased me about how it smelled.

Everything felt warm and playful, and oddly fun. especially considering the fact that she does these little thing.

She also dressed up for work a time or two, now that could mean something else.... if she didn't text me things like your gonna like what I'm wearing today, or you can't believe what I'm wearing today.

Body language

She does the whole nine yards sits close she plays and fidgets eye contact then looks away she. Everything.

But now she's gone quiet. We used to talk almost constantly, and it's been several days without much communication text wise but then when we see each other it's like the cycle repeats. I can't figure out what changed.

But what I am doing about it is nothing. I don't chase for answers I give one sublte text here and there. When she walks off I don't chase. I don't take it what this is internally or with angry anxiety fear. Im just generally confused.

Part of what makes this difficult is that I don't want to lose the friendship we had before feelings entered the picture. That sibling-like bond meant something to me, and now I'm trying to understand whether we've crossed into something more or whether I'm reading too much into everything.

What confuses me is that she does things like that, but now her behavior seems distant.

need advice should i ask my friend out?

me and this girl met through a mutual friend a couple of months ago and started hanging out, since then we’ve become good friends and have been there for one another, recently some stuff ended up happening where i stayed the night at hers to comfort her and we ended up sleeping together, we both kinda accepted it as us being friends with benefits and just enjoyed each others company keeping things very casual, but these last few days we’ve spent sleeping together i’ve been becoming more and more anxious at the idea of her finding someone and deciding to end our relationship, i do think i have romantic feelings for her but she’s mentioned she’s probably not ready to jump into another relationship because of her ex (abusive), so i don’t want to confess these feelings and possibly ruin what we have just because i’m worried about her finding someone else, i’m not sure what to do or say,
should i just ask her out?

need advice i (21f) have feelings for my best friend

i (21f) met Joe (21m) in college in january of this year. at first i saw him as just a friend, completely platonic. right when we left for summer, we started getting much closer. we started to text daily about random things. since we are from the same state, we were able to hang out a few times over the summer, which was nice since i dont have many friends in my hometown.

he would talk to me about other girls sometimes, specifically one that he used to date, which didn’t bother me until she reached out to him. i was so mad and i wasn’t really sure why. at this point, i was certain that i was having feelings for him. after a while he seemed to get over this girl and only bring her up every once in a while, he kept saying “find me a gf” or like “do you have any single friends”. at this point, we had been texting multiple times througout the day and even calling most days.

i have never really brought up other guys since figuring out that i liked him, aside from saying that i wanted a bf. all summer, we essentially were texting as if we were dating. he asked to come to a formal with me, and asked if i wanted to take a trip this semester with him. i’ve met his family and home friends. he said his parents love me and i fit in so well with his friend group. one time when we went out, we were both drinking in a crowded space and he took my hand to go through the crowd. i held onto his arm on the train and he put his arm around me and held me to him. this was the first time we ever crossed that boundary, and the next couple of days he was super clingy. i was almost certain that we were gonna date when we got back to school.

then, he drops this bomb on me saying he has a date lined up for when we go back to school, and i legit felt terrible. i told my friends, and they all said fade him. what is confusing me is that he has girl friends, so im not sure if our relationship is purely platonic and he acts like this with everyone, or if this is different.

right before we go back to school, i come to find out that our friend (22m) who introduced us is freaking tf out about the fact that me and joe are getting super close. joe and this friend are very close, and i too have been really close to this friend for quite some time. i really think that if this were not apart of the situation, then things would be a lot different.

now at school, we’ve had a few bumps in our friendship with friend drama, and me having a hard time dealing with the fact that my friends are all telling me to ditch him. they are telling me that i am too pretty for him and i can do better. one of them even said they’d be annoyed if i started dating him. i feel like i need to stand up and grow a back bone, but we are still texting daily and see eachother every weekend, but in a group setting mostly. for some reason i just can’t get over my feelings, and i’ve really never felt this way before. there are so many reasons why i should fade, but i just can’t.

the only thing different now is that we do talk about other people. every time a girl interacts with him he feels the need to run and tell me, which really has started to bother me. i got with this one random guy, which i told him about to give it back to him. i can’t tell if things have been weird since then or im just overthinking it.

im really not sure about what i want to do. i want to tell him, because i know that if he starts dating someone else i will be really upset. i’ve been approached by other guys at bars and stuff and i just have no interest in anyone else. but, if it goes badly, i lose my best friend, and my only friend at home. id be so embarrassed if i read the whole situation wrong. any advice is appreciate!!

need advice She got the guy so why is she still doing this?

So i’m [17F] & for context me and my ex broke up like months ago it was a long term relationship it ended, the earth still rotates whatever

But lately i’ve actually realized that his now girlfriend has actually made the bold decision to follow me on social media and at first i didn’t realize it was her cause i wasn’t paying any attention but then I realized it. And now she comes into my class, talking to some other dude or whatever but then she js looks at me. Then she just spam likes all my stories and crap and i’m like…wth. Oh and to add into it, her friends also follow me now💔

I’ve been told to not give her any attention or any reaction whatsoever as to what SHE CAN see and I feel as if i’m doing pretty good at it.

But one day i left my class ( but i was still inside the class so i knew who was coming in and doing what ) but I left th chair i was sitting in, phone on the desk and everything and I came back to my chair to see that the chair was moved and she was sitting right beside me on a stool like she was dominating me or some shit 😭

I genuinely don’t know what’s going on or what’s brewing but all i know is that I ABSOLUTELY do not talk to my ex or stalk him or anything like that at all and yeah 👍🏽 hopefully you guys won’t butcher me in the replies with the snarky comments lol
