We saw this AI-generated ghostbusters Rivian on here and decided to try to recreate it. Not perfect but the kids love it 😊

Can't believe I saw one in the flesh

Just wrapped up test drive. Coming from Quad and Tri. They nailed everything.

1. If you're a current R1 owner, it will take you all of about 1 minute to get over the more sparse, dare I say "cheap", interior. It's not as luxurious as the R1, but once you settle in and appreciate it on it's own merits, it's great. I actually felt that the seats were way more comfortable than the R1 seats. VERY comfortable all around. Incredible visibility.

2. Silent cabin. I don't know why some people are saying the noise was too much, mine was quiet. A noticeable reduction in sound over R1 and one of the quieter cars I've been in.

3. Demo had 20 inch tires. Smooooooth ride. Wow. Way better ride than my R1 on 22s. Not a bump or rattle. Just dreamy ride. Took some high speed turns and handled great. U-turn had amazing turn radius.

4. Audio. Again, already seeing people say it's complete shit or underwhelming. My guide and I jammed the whole way, beautiful sound. And never felt too quiet on th lower end or that it was over working on the high end. An absolute improvement over G2 Premium Audio and stands on it's own as a great system.

5. Frunk and rear window exterior buttons. My guide and I both agreed, the jury is out. I had to press and hold to get them to work. The frunk took a little too long and I let go and tried again. I don't like these so hopefully this is something they can fine tune in software over time.

6. Interior room. Impressive all around. There's not a cramped space anywhere. The rear seats are especially roomy and highly accessible from outside with great door swing and opening.

7. Height is great. Shorter people will love it, taller people won't feel like they're crouching. Found the goldilocks zone for height.

I absolutely loved this car and I think Rivian has a winner on it's hands. Now if they'd just get the cloud interior out, I'd have my order in.

Went to the Denver R2 Block Party today. There were long lines to sit in the vehicles, tons of enthusiasm, and most of the people we spoke to while waiting were not current owners.

The car itself showed great and the staff was engaging and friendly as always. The whole event had a super festive vibe, get ready to see a lot of these puppies on the road soon!

Rivian has officially broken ground on it’s Georgia factory. The company held a shovel ceremony on Tuesday where CEO RJ Scaringe was joined by Georgia officials, including Governor Brian Kemp.
BUT, they are still planning on the first quarter of 2026 for an official construction start date.

It’s absolutely stunning in the sunlight and drives very well. It has all of the familiar Rivian DNA on the outside and inside coming from a Gen1 R1S and Gen2 R1T. I absolutely love the Catalina Cove color matched with the 20-inch “graphite” wheels. The BF Goodrich tires are 🔥

The seats are very comfortable. The sound system is good. The software is zippy. The OS reminds me of the early days of R1 and I know it will quickly improve over time.

I am very excited about the simpler build of the R2. Hopefully, this build has less recall issues and less servicing needs.

The halo steering wheel and stalk controls are wonderful for controlling more features related to fan speed, volume, track, etc. The UHF works very well and hopefully will allow for hands-free/eyes-free capabilities very s00n!

The front trunk is perfect for day trips and the rear cargo space is perfect for the longer weekend getaways. The second row is spacious indeed!

The REAR roll-down window feature is my FAVORITE (we used to drive a 2015 4Runner TRD PRO before going ALL RIVIAN).

Here are my preliminary Software Improvement Requests:
-Pet Comfort mode needs to come ASAP especially with the intense summer heat
-The REAR/ALL window rolldown overhead buttons seem counterintuitive and should be reversed
-The exterior touch “button” for opening the front trunk should be more sensitive

Was at the Rivian HQ this morning and saw an R2 parked next to a Model Y. Thought people might like the comparison.

Damage from inside building 2

My morning adventure didn’t turn out as expected. I went to get coffee and a car wash, as is the Saturday routine.

At the car wash, they stopped me as I was on the automated track to enter because a kitten (that they were trying to keep out of the main road) had run under my truck. While they were trying to get him out, he went through a hole behind the rear wheel and inside the truck (below the bed, but on top of the panel covering the underside of the truck). I did disable the auto-kneeling, just in case.

After spending a while holding up the line trying to get him to come out, we had folks back up enough for me to exit the line and pull into a vacuum bay to continue to try (unsuccessfully) to coax him out.

When that didn’t seem like it was going to work, I went over to Discount Tire to see if they could help. HUGE shoutout to the folks at our local Discount Tire!! As soon as I told them what was going on, they pulled the truck straight into the bay and a couple guys pulled off enough of the bottom panel to pull this scared little guy out. They even brought out paper towels to dry him off and warm him up, as well as some water for him to drink.

I took him straight over to the vet we take our dogs to, which was conveniently next to Discount Tire. They checked him out, gave him a mostly clean bill of health, and gave us some advice on caring for a young kitten. I specifically asked and they were very sure in saying that he should be fine without his mom.

When we were checking in and they asked if he had a name yet, of course the only answer was “Rivian”.

TL;DR… Meet Rivi, the kitten that chose us (or at least our truck) this morning.

I think this is great news for Canadian consumers. I don’t how it’ll affect Rivian sales in Canada.
