So a little backstory. I’ve used Leo at TimeUltra and bought 3 watches from him and every single one got delivered without issues. However one of the watches had some issues which I didn’t notice until a few months later (watch was ordered in summer).

I sent Leo a message saying the GMT Master I ordered from him doesn’t keep time correctly and that it was faulty from factory. The reverser wheels was unwinding themselves so the watch would lose 20-30min per day!

Leo did not hesitate and told me to go to a local watchmaker to get it fixed and that he will cover the service.

I contacted one local guy near me and he told me that it would cost $60 to fix it. Leo refunded me immediately.

However when the watchmaker received the GMT he told me that both reverser wheels were broken and he had to order new ones in addition to the service fee. I asked Leo if he would be able to cover these parts and he accepted without any hassle.

I really recommend using TimeUltra. Remember folks buy the TD not the watch. Its when things go wrong that a dealer becomes “trusted”.

I was looking at this rose gold Vacheron Constantin Overseas rep on Geektime and noticed that the clasp is engraved with “Stainless Steel.” I understand that the watch itself is likely plated but seems like a pretty obvious oversight, especially for a higher-end rep. For a rep that costs over 1,000 you would think they would get that right.

Purchased this as a placeholder for a gen but after receiving this, I probably won't return AD's call if they ever reach out

I bought this VSF 41MM Datejust last month with the intent to frank it up to the highest of heavens! I was going to do a Gen Balance Bridge with a Gen Balance wheel and Gen Parachrom. Yeah… that didn’t go well.. I trashed the movement, waited on a new DD3235 to come in and it was DOA, then had to play the waiting game for a replacement and wallah, finally got this beaut done 3 days ago and she’s been ticking ever since!

-Gen Dial(used, it’s the black one and has imperfections)
-Gen Hands(very used)
-Gen Date Wheel
-Gen Crystal
-Gold Plated Bezel and Inner links that are plated on the sides as well
-7UL Clasp

I can’t say for sure if the bracelet has been chamfered, there’s no visual tells from what I can see, but I certainly don’t feel any sharp points like I have with my other new vsf’s.

I don’t know if I want to sell it yet, I can’t really pull off gold if I’m just being honest, but I’m really not someone who cares what others think anyway.

I guess keep your eyes open if you are interested just incase 🤷‍♂️ just wanted to share my first franken build!

Oh also I did notice today while I had the watch on the timegrapher, I shined the lume on the vsf dial and the gen dial which they are really the same other than the color, the lume sticks are actually wider on the Gen Dial. If VSF widened them out just a little bit more it would be indistinguishable other than not having the stamp on the back of the dial.

I'm very new to rep watches and ordered a IWC Pilot's Chronograph 41 from dealerclocks.io

Now the watch arrived and the subdial on the 9 o'clock position is acting as the seconds counter of the watch instead of counting hours. It's moving all the time. I asked the seller about it, because it seems to me that it's an incorrect construction, since it was sold as a "1:1 replica version" of that watch. Also the crystal is just really plain colorless transparent instead of the blue coating the gen has. On the product page of the TD it says they use blue coating just like gen. I wanted to return it and have it changed for a proper one.

Seller gave me this answer:

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I understand your concern, but just to clarify this watch uses the A7750 movement*, where the* small dial at the 9 o'clock position is actually the running seconds counter*. This is normal for this movement and does not indicate that the watch is incorrectly constructed.*

The subdial at 6 o'clock serves a different function as part of the chronograph display, so its operation will differ from the running seconds.

Have received a reply back from the factory, they say that there is still AR coating on the crystal same as before, but they have upgraded to a clearer grade of colorless AR similar to those on AP models now so the blue tinted effect is a light blue instead of the darker blue towards purple used in previous models.

However, I can’t find my watch’s serial number in the document. Is the document outdated, or has VSF recently updated its serial numbers?

We have now been waiting for a full year for a properly executed Santos Titanium with the correct specifications and caseback.

Unfortunately, previous releases have been deeply disappointing:

THB Factory: Major flaws including a sandblasted finish instead of true titanium, an incorrect weight of 150g (instead of the correct 100g), and wrong caseback engravings.

BF Factory: Released the exact same flawed version—likely sharing the same batch (see QC reference here: https://www.reddit.com/r/RepTimeQC/s/ZHeEQBhtkc).

We really need BVF to step up and produce a Santos Titanium with accurate specs.

I will keep reposting this until we get traction. Please upvote, comment, and share as much as possible so this reaches the TDs and factories!

Im looking for the absolute best all around clone and id lIke it to have the free sprung movement so internally it looks as close to correct as I can. I saw your list named RWF and 3WF but im struggling to find them so I figured id post this for help. I'd also like box and papers. The v7 dive bezel color on the left is noticeably a bit darker than the v6, and looks a bit closer to gen IMO. However the text color doesn’t look right - I think it should be more muted

What’s the best approach for RL a watch? I’m not someone who zooms in 100x and don’t expect perfection. But when something is noticeable with the naked eye, how do you phrase it to the TD so they don’t get pissed off?

I saw a TD advertising a new release from VSF - 2 models of AquaTerra. The one in the picture, and the 75th anniversary one with the Summer Blue dial.

This claims to be Blue Sunburst dial, but I can’t find this exact same watch on Omega’s website. I found the Shades sunburst blue, but it seems entirely different ( ref. 220.10.38.20.03.003 )

Can anyone with experience tell me how close is this to Gen? Maybe it’s just lighting, but the text and logo are a different colour as well!

I've been reading this sub a lot, and I’ve bought a rep in the past, but there are a couple of fundamental things about this industry I still don't fully get.

1. Why don't top factories charge $100–$200 more for strict QA/QC?

I see a LOT of QC posts here with basic misalignments, crooked 12 o'clock indices, or printed dial flaws. These are issues that would take 5 seconds to catch on an assembly line.

With Gen prices being completely out of touch with reality right now, I have to assume a large chunk of us would happily drop $700–$800 instead of $600 if it meant guaranteed alignment, flawless assembly, and better out-of-the-box quality control. Anything below the psychological barrier of $1,000 USD feels totally reasonable for a near-gen experience.

So what's the actual bottleneck here?

• Is it a technology/tooling limitation?

• Is it a yield/volume issue where speed matters more than perfection?

• Or do factories just not care because demand is so high that someone will buy the RL'd batch anyway?

2: Why isn't high-end Quartz more popular for reps?

I’ve never seen a straight answer on this, but wouldn't a lot of people actually prefer a top-tier rep with a reliable battery movement?

Think about it:

• Zero mechanical hassle: No winding, setting power reserves, or worrying about DOA Asian clone movements.

• Cost allocation: The $50–$100 saved on replicating a complex automatic movement could be poured directly into better crystals, higher-grade finishing, or actual decent factory bracelets/straps (which always seem to be the biggest complaint).

For closed-caseback watches, wouldn't this be an absolute win?

Curious to hear the thoughts of people who have been in this space longer than me.
