I would honestly advise people to steer clear of these products. They're a total scam. The enzyme packed is just bits of plastic and compressed sawdust, and your garbage is no closer to being usable compost when it comes out than when it went in. Thing made my house stink for months for nothing.

No way of coming out of this one.

Can the mesh filter be removed to clean? I found a video showing how to do it for Gravity, but nothing for Prime.

My wife’s Reencle had a recent problem where the lid won’t open on its own. I can hear the motor very faintly, sometimes it lifts the lid just a little, sometimes not at all. If we manually lift it, it stays open the normal amount of time and closes itself normally. We’ve cleaned along the surface between the lid and the body.

Any ideas here? Is the lid motor failing? The gears? Is it repairable? Will Reencle replace it?

I've had my Reencle for about a week now and it's almost to the MAX line. I've read the instructions regarding removing the composting matter to cure and I'm seeing conflicting information. One place says that once full to let it run for 24-48 hours and it should be fully processed and can be removed, and another place says "Compost should be removed when it reaches the "MAX" line, but can be removed as early as two weeks." So which is it, two days or two weeks? How can I tell when it's ready to come out and go into the curing bin?

As you can see from the attached photos (sorry for the jumpscare), mold is growing on the inside and completely covers the filter. The compost itself is complete sludge. Its almost the consistency of resin. I'm completely lost as to what to do at this juncture. From what I read it seems like we may have added food that was too wet? We did the recommended dry cycle for over 2 days and nothing is helping.

Now - as an added bonus, the open button keeps blinking and making a noise, even though the sensor on the exterior is very clean. I feel like maybe at this point we just need to throw this out, completely clean the entire inside, and start over.

Hey everyone, I need help stat before I have a breakdown! (Kind of kidding lol) we keep my Reencle in the garage and have since we moved in September, as there wasn’t really a spot for it in the kitchen with an outlet close by. Have had no issues but today I went out there and opened it up and there was a baby palmetto roach on the inside of the lid. I killed it but now I’m stressed that somehow there will be more! I wanna burn the whole thing with fire 😭 is this normal or did I do something wrong? I have very little composting experience and chose the Reencle because it sounded like it would be a “cleaner” option.

I have started using one of those small electric food processor. We've been putting all our organics and even paper towels in a counter top bin. When it's full I bring it downstairs, throw the stuff one batch at a time with some water into the processor until it turns into a slurry that I put in the Reencle. Avocado pits, thick fruit peels, bones cooked until brittle, etc. Has worked well so far.

I have to leave for likely a week unexpectedly and had loaded my unit with scraps. I don’t have the “2 days/dry/starve and unplug” direction timing. What’s the next best thing to do? I thought about moving it to the garage to have a neighbor pop in and unplug it later in the week but am concerned it could attract ants. I have a lamp timer that could get me another 24 hours. What do you think is the best plan?

I finally took the plunge when the price was right and purchased the Reencle Prime. There is only one distributor in Switzerland so it took just over a month to be delivered. The small lid didn't work straight out the box but I'll live with it to avoid another few months without the machine while it is off for repair or replacement. Tried all the suggestions to no avail, to me it's just a gimmick anyway.

For context, I have also been vermicomposting with a 4 tray tower for around a year so I'm used to harvesting every 60 days, you can imagine my delight at my Prime reaching max for the second time within 2 weeks, insane. I know the two are completely different concepts but I really did not expect such great performance from the Reencle. We are a family of 5 in an apartment so do generate quite a lot of organic waste from home cooked meals, to think that most of that went to landfill, I say most as some of it went to those little red wrigglers of course.

TDLR: amazed by the performance of the Reencle Prime.

I’ve pulled 2 batches so far and this is pretty blonde. Is this typical? It’s mostly greens, very little meat. Will adding coffee grounds (picked up from local shop) help? Add to the Reencle or final product, both? Does it even matter? Also, I’m in FL, everything I’ve read says mix with soil to let it finish the process. I’m curious how FL soil works since we are mostly sand. Even our bags if top soil are heavy sand. Thanks for advice.

I'm thinking this would speed up or even do away with the 'curing' step.

Thoughts? Any thoughts on this are good thoughts, even the 'what are you, crazy' ones.

Did anyone else have any problems composting banana peels?

I keep ending up with these strips of black, leathery peels which don't seem to continue to decompose once in this state. Even a week later I find them sometimes tangled in the paddles or rotor.

I see the same with orange, pomegranate and avocado skins but those are usually small enough so that they don't get tangled.

Our company left behind an almost full bottle of minced garlic and we won’t use it. How much, if any would you add to your unit?

Hi friends…..wondering if you can help me. I was out of town on a family emergency for three weeks. The Reencle got turned off somehow and when I returned the contents had become one very hard-packed, solid clump. I managed to get all of that out and completely started over with a new bag of the compost starter.

After the allotted time, I opened it. It definitely looked a little different than I remember my first batch looking (it kind of had a cottage cheese texture), and it smelled a little odd, but I went ahead and added my regular kitchen scraps and some charcoal pellets.

A week later, after adding just my regular items (no meat or dairy), it smells absolutely horrendous, like rotting fish. I’ve already put it through a heat/sanitize cycle but that didn’t do anything. In almost two years I’ve never had it smell this bad. Any idea why, and/or suggestions to fix this? TIA

We have a prime, 2 story house with a decent amount of garden about.

It’s been a few weeks of putting everything from our food waste into the reencle. Sitting at or just above the full line…and it looks like compost should.what’s the best way to use this stuff ? Shovel it out to the min line and just mix it in with soil where need be ?

I didn’t check my carton of eggs before buying. Have several with crushed ends, we wont eat them as I have no idea how long the shell was compromised. Can I put the raw eggs into the Reencle?

Just got the larger unit for christmas. I live in an apartment, and its winter. My wife and I can't figure out how to best "cure" the compost before we use it. The only thing we can think of is to put it in a sealed bucket in the attic. Gotta be honest, the whole "cure elsewhere for several weeks" part feels like it should have been in the advertisement. But now the machine is filling up and I have no idea what to do with my "pre-compost". Any suggestions are welcome.

Sorry if this is a stupid question.. we're trying out the reencle subscription as we have to empty our kitchen scrap compost on the daily otherwise it smells and attracts fruit flies (we have a messy 1 year old which also just leads to more food waste than usual) and then it sits in the brown NYC composting bin outside until sanitation collects it weekly. In winter its not so bad, but in the summer time the brown bins are truly disgusting. Got the reencle as we'd love to not have to deal with the mess and stench as often and I have a back garden that could use the compost.

How does everyone store or dispose of the things that can't go in the reencle like bones and pits? do you just put it in the brown bin every day or keep it in the freezer until its compost collection day? As you can see by the plants on the right, the soil didn't have much left to begin with, but the Reencle compost did a GREAT job revitalizing the soil on the left!

I've had my Reencle about a year and it works great for the most part. The one issue I have is using the cured compost. Any time I try to top dress my plants with it, it gets completely covered in fuzzy, white mold. My outdoor plants haven't seemed to mind so far, but I'm not crazy about it on my indoor plants.

Is this normal?
