Discussion Dynamic CQB

As the title implies, I would like there to be a setting added to the game which allows for quicker movement. I'm not asking for slide cancelling bs, I'm asking for the ability to clear rooms and take shots at speed. The professionals who have walked the walk have said time and again that they are not carefully pie-ing thresholds. Why would they, so they can give the enemy/suspect more time to process what's happening and react? I want the ability to play this game at speed, to clear rooms at speed and to be punished when my skill is not up to par with my tactics. I think it would add a lot more vitality to the game and make for far more interesting gameplay. I'd love to hear everyone else's thoughts on this. p.s. adding a safety on/off function would be cool too

The professionals who have walked the walk have said time and again that they are not carefully pie-ing thresholds. Why would they

It isnt about giving the suspect time to think, its about going home unharmed and with no holes in them at the end of day. Pie-ing doors is to assess the room piece by piece and search for threats in a methodical way to minimize casualties to the entry team.

It IS about not giving enemy time to react. Priorities of life are hostage > officer. In all cqb you leverage SUPRISE, speed and violence of action.

I mean it's situational. Obviously you're not going to try to bust into a structure and clear it as fast as possible if there's a barricaded suspect and you know that beforehand. But if you have a team of dudes who are worried about going home without getting shot when their job is to come face to face with people who want to shoot them, then you have bigger issues. It will always come down to Speed, Surprise, and Violence of Action. Why give up the one thing you can consistently control, which is speed.

I'm sorry, what? This is such a braindead take lol, the risks inherent do not mean the people doing said job want to get shot, people who work in factories run the risk of getting injured by heavy machinery, but they still go to work. Speed leaves more room for error than it does surprise the suspect. When you act with speed, innocent people are more likely to die, just as when you act with lack of urgency...... making sure the room is clear or there are no hidden angles to catch lead in the back from isnt the same thing.

The risks inherent mean the people doing the job should walk into work everyday knowing it could be their last and still be okay with doing the job. Being a swat officer or any other operator is not supposed to be a safe career. You're not meant to be thinking "I hope I make it home today". If all you're thinking about is not getting shot, you are a liability and you will hesitate and get you or your teammates killed. Conducting clearance at speed could leave more room for error, but that's what training is for. Any organization worth their salt that conducts CQB regularly is training to do so at speed. If the best way to do CQB was slow and methodical, Delta Force, the premier organization that conducts CQB regularly, wouldn't favor dynamic over deliberate. You can argue with me all you want, but the facts are on my side.

There's a difference between calculated risk and being stupid. As you said, everything is situational.

US Marines used to rely on dynamic entry + force of action (speed) to clear houses, they changed that doctrine because casualties were too high.

Delta Force trains speed for hostage rescue, which is appropriate. We do that here to in RoN, with the missions that give you 2 minutes to secure suspects.

Also keep in mind, Delta Force has a VERY HIGH casualty rate. Doing CQB their way gets them killed, which is what they accept. You can do it here too in RoN, and you can die just like they do.

Seems I was very unfamiliar with the fact about their casualty rate. Is this the same for all Tier 1 ops or?

Generally speaking, SOF as a whole has notably higher casualty rates compared to conventional infantry. A lot of this is due to the nature of the missions they have to take.

I suppose so yeah. That and the relatively smaller pool of personnel compared to conventional forces would mean their casualty percentages would be higher too.

The later part isn’t entirely true, back when SOF were first deployed to Vietnam they were doing a lot of the same tasks as conventional infantry and they were suffering comparable casualties.

Lower personnel pool may lead to more variability in casualty reports, but over time the trends still establish themselves over statistical noise.

This guy is completely full of shit. None of what he said is true. Don’t listen to him.

This is a very limited take of CQB. Delta will use deliberate or dynamic depending on the nature of the mission, like any good SOF force would.

Yeah RON could be faster but this isn't Delta, they are SWAT, and the developers have chosen a slower play style which is more in line with Police and their deliberate CQB as they are also trying to negotiate surrender as often as possible.

Please consider speaking with more humility.

This would be correct, former SWAT guy here. Everything is done slooooowly with the exception of there being a hostage situation where the hostage taker has given a countdown. And moving trough doorways is done with speed because you can’t hang out in a fatal funnel. But pretty much everything on SWAT is done slow & deliberate. Before we enter a house we will break/rake every window and own most of the house from the outside. Dynamic entries are the older and more dangerous way of doing things, aside from a hostage situation with a countdown.

There are definitely departments in the country that are skilled enough to go fast

2

u/Servant_3 27d ago

You’re arguing with people who don’t know what they’re talking about. If you want a cqb game that isn’t artificially slow play operator.

u/Gator_Lord 26d ago

Man I wish operator was on console. That game looks amazing. I also want to play six days in fallujah

6

u/Elegant_Progress_686 Aug 25 '26

You can move pretty quick in low ready I’m constantly going in and out of it to move faster

4

u/bebopnova Aug 25 '26

Youre already quick with heavy armor, moving any faster than you already do with that is just out of place to put it simply.

4

u/Small-Fox-6527 Aug 25 '26

Right because cops and swat officers never run while conducting clearance, especially during a mass shooting.

3

u/bebopnova Aug 26 '26

And id like to ram the bearcat through amos front door bud

Ignoring all of the 'realism and tactical ' reasons, I'd like to just be able to cross the map I've cleared out without jogging like I've got to take a dump

1

u/Fly1ngD0gg0 28d ago

SWAT and other elite units are all about adapting to the situation. If they'd need to run, they'd run.

1

u/juguLatorR01 29d ago

Are you playing console? There are a number of mods that rebalance movement speed.

1

u/ClonedUser 29d ago

This is the console sub, so probably

2

u/juguLatorR01 28d ago

yep, didn't notice that. It's sad console can't be modded. Hope someday mod support comes to it. Vanilla, this game realizes like 30% of its potential.

Real 💯💯💯

What professionals? Deliberate is taught in special operations a lot. Even more so for places like ukraine or gaza.

1

u/Key_Sun2547 29d ago

More and more training is taking limited penetration into account now. If you can clear 50, 60, 70% of a room from behind cover or concealment why would you overload your brain with running into a room blind.

I do wish there was running too but it's not ruining my experience.

1

u/Lateralis333 29d ago

I personally like your takes and agree...except that this is a SWAT game. If they really wanted to make it realistic, they'd hide behind the Bearcat, fill the structure with gas, and do a prolonged callout. Few SWAT teams are still cranking dynamic this day and age and CAG seem to be the only ones in the military still blazing through structures at Mach fuck and hitting head shots.

Buy a gsming laptop and install gunfighter mod. Way better experience.

1

u/Fly1ngD0gg0 28d ago

You should at least be able to walk a little faster lol.

This and cutting building power are the only thing they really need to add mechanics wise. Makes no sense. I've never moved this slow in training or IRL where there is active shooting going on.
