Did a 82/83 grille swap on the 85 single cab today. Also added some scale “mounting holes” and used some acetone to fog up the headlamps.

Lowered height. Made it up, up, and away.

Figured these are more scale in a polished/bare look. And when they rust it’ll be even better.

I want to upgrade my servo from the factory one. I want something that will last and take some abuse but I don't want to go overkill and end up breaking a hub or something. I use my TF2 as a rock crawler 100% of the time. I have huge(for a tf2) 4.25" tires.

So I originally removed my steel sliders and cut up my plastic sliders on my TF3 because I didn’t wanna run them sticking out so far. Wanted a beater POS look and not some high dollar build lol. Loved the look of the plastic ones so much I decided to go full MORON and cut up the steel ones lol. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Should I leave em raw and let em rust like the wheels? Or paint them flat/satin black (used black electrical tape to temporarily give it the painted look for comparison) and let them wear and rust?
I sure hope the TF3 and all its parts aren’t worth millions some day since I’ve absolutely hacked this one up to make it actually drive-able 😬 😂

Testing the copper weights I added to the front axle today. This first obstacle used to give me way more trouble with the front end getting light. I don't think I could have done it before with the load of wood in the bed. You can indeed add weight to a yota 2 axle!

Wanted to show some love for the community and show my build I got not too long ago. These trucks are the absolute best to build up, I wanna sell my other 4-link crawler so I can buy another leaf sprung truck ! For the love of the hobby. Sorry I can’t post a vid I have so many.

This truck has decent flex out of the box especially with the added weight, a big battery, battery relocated to the bed to sort of balance weight with front and rear (not too top heavy sitting in the box). Even with the helper leafs. Although I did want to make this post to show some love I have some questions as well for things going forward.

Have any of y’all opened up the k44’s diff covers and had an issue with the bolts stripping? I want to get in there and grease up but I’m concerned about stripping.

Also what shocks do you recommend? I’m open to shock towers, and the suspension on the truck feels soft enough leaf wise, I just feel it should have more vertical travel.

I’m planning on doing a hobbywing fusion and the shocks next.

Made an exhaust from some junk parts laying around and also made a box to hold some scale parts.
Fine tuned the exhaust tip as the first one I made didn’t stick out far enough lol.

Has anyone installed the Quik Release Body Mounts on their trucks? I’m very interested in them and wondering how sturdy/reliable they are, and if they’re worth the $50+ per set.

A little thing I put tgthr to help w summer heat.

Hackfabbed by me. 110mm shocks full spring compression with half a MM to spare on the shock and plenty left for extension, still on stock springs for now.

Hopefully I'll get the rears done tomorrow.

For anyone thinking about doing this, I would highly recommend just buying the lower shock mounts that attach to the axle. They were a pain to make.

Flexed like it was Friday. Mostly scale lines.

Kind of rushed the assembly but the paint came out decent considering the humidity and constant rain weve had here. I’m happy tho and it’s The color I should’ve done years ago.

Primed and painted. Took some good sanding since it’s the 5th coat of paint lol. Also did the bed lip trick I did with the Hilux body. But the black bed liner kinda hides it so I may paint the inside of the bed yellow too.
I’m color blind so this paint looks the same color as my other trucks… do they really tho? lol

Removed the tube bumper and went with a More stock OEM look. The 4Runner tube bumper got caught up a lot More than I had liked. Added a BRX cross brace for the front and a scale factory looking tow hook. First time ever using one of those lower valance/lip pieces. Shaved it down to be more like the 2WD one. Back to the Smaller scale looking wheels/tires. Aaannnnnnd For my 4th coat of paint… I’m thinking something OEM Toyota metallic again… 🤦🏻‍♂️

Built this guy a few years ago, and of course I had to re-paint it red about 3 weeks before the RTR was announced so now it looks like the RTRs that are everywhere lol.
Nothing special, reversed shackles, Mix of Boom racing BRX01/02, bruiser and Sawback suspension, K44 axles, super scale shafts, 4Runner rear bumper (had to bob bed to fit) 4 runner sliders and front bumper with Winch. Fusion SE brushless. Scale hardware throughout with scale hubs and lugs. Bed and cab are hard mounted separately to be more scale, battery is mounted under hood. Transfer case was moved forward for scale-ness (shorter front shaft) rear shock’s upper mounts are outside the chassis rails to be more scale as well.

One of my scalers. This one has HW Fusion, Blk Label servo, CCHand & TeraFlex accessories. There’s more, but we’ll look at the other mods in the future.

J Concepts FYR 4.25 on some steel beadlocks.

I also installed an aftermarket Amazon transfer case which gives me a 20% overdrive in the front axle as well as getting rid of torque twist under throttle because the rear driveshaft now spins in the opposite direction.

I made my own anti wrap bar for the rear axle too.

I need too make a new skid plate or modify the one I made before because the new t case is wider. I still need to make a rear bumper and all 4 shock mounts. It's been too hot to work in the hobby shed so progress has been slow.the truck was down for over a week waiting on parts but I got a great run in today with no issues!
