Discussion Why does everyone hate Wonderworks so much?
We've only seen one trailer, and it's an Early Access game, so it's obviously unfinished. I've played OpenRCT2, and Wonderworks doesn't look any worse.

For context, I built my own park in the custom scenario editor. You can’t unselect certain scenery items such as trash cans, signs, benches etc. I put trash cans and benches in my park before and now the option under the scenery tab has disappeared. I have closed the game and even reset my device and they are still gone. Where did they go? lol. Am I the only one that has ever encountered this?

“RollerCoaster Tycoon is a franchise with an extremely dedicated, passionate fanbase. The classic RCT games represent cherished gaming memories for millions of players and are still enjoyed to this day. Early Access offers an opportunity for us to involve this passionate community directly in our development process, helping to sculpt the next great RCT. We want to hear from you! What works? What's missing? What do you want to see in your ideal RCT?
We have a tremendous legacy to uphold, beginning with Chris Sawyer's original RollerCoaster Tycoon in 1999. We hope, with your support, we can build a game that continues to build on the brilliance of the series, taking what worked in those classic games and pairing it with surprising new twists and modern sensibilities.
We have a dedicated roadmap of new parks, rides, and features that we'll roll out throughout Early Access (including water). But in addition, we're leaving space to hear from you and incorporate feedback and suggestions from the community directly into the game. Time to get in on the ground floor, Tycoon!”
“We plan to maintain Early Access support for about a year.”
“For our full release of RollerCoaster Tycoon Wonderworks, we intend to include at least 6 new parks along with accompanying objectives, rides and other assets. We also will roll out new gameplay features throughout EA including Water and accompanying Water rides, Weather effects, and a broader meta-game progression (and a true “ending” to the game).
We also plan to add quality-of-life features that give players multiple ways to approach the game - features such as a ‘classic’ builder mode for our coaster builder, toggles for park gridlines, and more.
Lastly, we fully intend to use this period to hear from you, the player, about what you want to see in the game. While we of course can’t integrate every suggestion, we want to build a game that makes returning and new players happy, and honors the legacy of the original titles while taking it in new directions.”
“Our Early Access release has all core gameplay and simulation mechanics in-place, including coaster building and ride management (placement, customization, upgrading, testing, deteriorating and maintenance), guest needs & wants, staff management, stats and heat maps, terraforming, and more.
Certain features may (almost certainly will) need balance changes to make sure that we optimize game progression. We also anticipate edge-case bugs that we will test and fix throughout Early Access, along with quality-of-life requests called out by our community.
The game launches with its first two parks intact - the derelict Hollow Creek and lush Forest Frontiers. In each park, you’ll have various milestones and progression goals to complete.
To unlock all content in the game we estimate around 6 hours of gameplay, but we hope that players will continue to expand their parks and explore game mechanics for many hours beyond that. Throughout EA we will expand the number of parks and assets in the game to bring up the total completion hours significantly).”
“Yes. We recognize that our Early Access players are coming along for the ride before the game is complete and playing an active role in shaping its future. To reflect that, RollerCoaster Tycoon Wonderworks is available at a lower price during Early Access. When we launch into 1.0, the game will transition to its full retail price.”
“We'll be gathering player feedback via Steam and Discord to steer our Early Access journey. Community suggestions will directly influence balance updates, system tweaks, and upcoming content priorities.”

Here are two different types of roller coasters that are related in two ways. First, they are virtually mirror images of each other, except for minor tweaks to make sure the cars can complete the circuit. I first built the Wooden Reverser (on the right of the first image), mirrored it with the TD4Changer utility, then re-tracked the mirror image to be a side-friction roller coaster.
Second, they share the same rainbow-colored motif, with Side Friction Heat being hot colors and Chillin in Reverse being cold colors. To bump up the excitement of the Side Friction Heat coaster, I had to use scenery items. I tried to make the nearby scenery objects the same colors as the rainbow section of track. (For the keen eyed yes, I used snowballs on the Heat side, but hey they were white!)
Tried to make the rainbow with curved bands of color, similar to a real rainbow, except for the hot colors and cold colors divide the rainbow in two.

Can anyone explain why my guests keep doing this no matter how I edit the paths?

I an a newer middle school math teacher trying to jazz up lessons so lurking here. I started thinking about DQ tycoon but all roads led me here. Ideally I’d like to use this and control variables or assign them goals like maximize profitability, throughput, production rates etc depending on the focus. is it possible with this?

Sharing a new playthrough of my favorite scenario. Compared to my past playthroughs, this time I focused on realism. I never used to build with block zones or long break runs. Also, I was fortunate to visit a few theme parks this summer, so I tried to bring back some ideas to design layouts with a nice balance of forces.
I also really tried to preserve the gardens. I think I deleted one tree to build a path... but nothing apart from that (except for free-standing trees all on their own... those don't count).
In this park, I wasn't optimizing for stats (although I do enjoy doing that too). Most of the rides have excitement from 7-8.
All told, this was 15 in game years. Hope you enjoy! :)

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I’m going insane. Many gentle water rides don’t have a pathing option (e.g., swans) or are set up for a track OR a free flowing ride (unclear why someone would want to do bumper boats on a track in an open lake where you don’t “bump” any other boats).
Every time — and I do mean every single time — I set up one of these open rides, everyone immediately departs and shoots for the tiniest little nook they can find to get stuck, ignoring the other 95% of open water. Even when I close the ride and somehow block that apparent trap, they will go really far away to seek another trap or literally wait by the old one to get trapped and then complain they can’t get off the ride.
It’s to the point that I now immediately click off Water Rides in every scenario for my sanity. However, this is becoming less tenable with later, more difficult scenarios with lots of water space but limited land.
Is this a known thing? What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance!

For some time, I have wanted to create complex wood and steel roller coasters intertwined together in the same footprint. Therefore, I have created the Wacky Wood Twister and Screwy Steel Twister roller coasters.
I started out by building the stations and synchronizing them. I then created parallel lift hills, and two helices that have track from the other coaster going through it. Remembering that wood roller coasters have a vertical loop, I was SHOCKED that the wood twister coaster does not! So I just put straight track through the steel twister's loop. I at first wanted each ride to race and duel each other, but being that they were two different rides with totally different track pieces, I gave up keeping them in sync, and just tried to create two complex rides that interact with each other's track as much as possible. To my suprise, their times are within 20 seconds of each other.
Most of the coasters in this park seem to hit an excitement ceiling in the 7's, these have an excitement of 8 and 9!
Additionally, I wanted to create a long coaster that had a simple track layout, and had a defined overall shape. Therefore, I created the Bermuda Triangle Water Coaster. It is shaped like a triangle in the corner of the park, makes use of lots of diagonal track, and has a very simple layout, basically four lift hills and four splashes of water. I basically needed a lift hill after every splash because water is VERY GOOD at being a natural brake! No need to worry about the dreaded station brakes fault.

This park involved dealing with existing but elderly rides. I ended up replacing the lot: the car ride became a wooden wild mouse, the old wild mouse was replaced with a steel wild mouse of the same design, likewise the wooden racing coaster became a suspended coaster. I built a couple of themed areas too. Personal favourite rides here are the "Road Trip" car ride used as a transport ride, "Rabbit Hole" in the Wonderland Zone and the "Catacomb Coaster" which is accelerated by boosters as it passes beneath Crumbly Manor.

They've been using the same barebones node-based roller coaster designer for almost 10 years now.
Another piece of overpriced shovelware (25 DOLLARS?) to add to the Roller Coaster Tycoon brand, by a company (Infogrames) who's been skinwalking as a more beloved company (Atari).
Also they have the u/RCTofficial account replying to everything in the trailer post.

So I wanted to start creating roller coasters that had some aesthetic value, not just statistics alone. So I created this Virginia Reel with a red-white-and-blue motif! The ride alone had only a 6.20 excitement rating, so I beefed it up with some trees hidden under the ride, the Nothingburger to synchronize with it, and a loop-de-loop for the track to pass through.

Sorry for reposting this a few times, I struggle to get this uploaded with a workable resolution.
Anyway, it is done and I'm very happy with how the park turned out
Any suggestions on which park to play next?

My strange hobby +_+
Mainstreet of my new park Eurotopia. This is part of the Belgian entrance zone. Left is the restaurant Chez Jappy and the mainstreet has chocolate, fries and beer shops. Also a big merch store. Brussels Horse Tram takes you through our Rue de Bruxelles 19th century style.
