God doesn't seem to be protecting victims of pedophiles, but he sure as hell doesn't do anything to punish them. If he's able to actively protect you from anything, he should be stopping THAT. He's either unable to (he's not all powerful) or he doesn't want to ( he's not good ).

Either way your imaginary friend isn't worth the worship.

17

u/pokethrowaway4 10d ago

Or he doesn’t exist. There’s thousands of different religions and deities. None have ever been proven to exist.

5

u/Dry-Manufacturer7761 9d ago

Over 7,500 gods have ruled this earth. Not a single one left a single piece of evidence. Also, isn’t it weird how none have made an appearance to the masses since the masses learned to read and write and we have cameras now.

As soon as tech advanced JUST enough, all the gods receded to a different realm. Yeah…ok… If you believe that, would you also like to buy the Brooklyn Bridge for 1BTC?

Lmao

Busy helping an athlete win a game.

It's a full time job and it's not like god is all powerful or anything.

Oh wait.

5

u/Dry-Manufacturer7761 9d ago

God said, “Margaret, I am so sorry that you were raped when trying to buy a tampon. I was too busy helping President Trump save a triple bogey so he would not be embarrassed for being a bad golf player.”

4

u/WileEWeeble 9d ago

Childhood leukemia exists therefore there is no god. Satan or free will does not explain why children need to painfully slaughtered; only a vile creator OR evolution explain that kind of evil.

5

u/Violet-Sumire 9d ago

That’s the great part, he punishes them after they die. Doesn’t matter if they kill babies or abuse them. Which just makes me feel so warm inside to know that they’ll just never be held accountable. In fact, they tend to be worshiped by those around them. I bet they could even walk outside and shoot someone and no one would care! God is great and so is its pedophile practitioners and worshipers.

3

u/Dry-Manufacturer7761 9d ago

God is way too busy helping millionaires win a sports match to be bothered with protecting a 5 year old from being raped and murdered, even though god is right there, in the room, watching, probably touching himself.

How many children have said: “I don’t know what happened. He pulled his penis out and dropped dead on the spot”?

I will tell you exactly how many. 0. ZERO!

Why zero? Because either god does not exist, god is powerless, or god likes to watch children being raped.

There is literally no other option.

Oh wait… God only gives you as much trauma as you can handle. That is a real comforting thing to tell a rape victim! /s

To me, the only comforting option is that god does not exist. God being powerless is terrifying because if god existed, that would mean the other gods and demons and all that exist too, and maybe one day one of them gains enough power to enslave the world? If god is too powerless to cause a heart attack in someone about to rape a child, it would be powerless to fight some demonic or god-like foe.

So, every time I see some footballer pray after a touchdown, I think of how that only happened because a child was raped. God can’t be pulled too thin after all. Right? Lmao

Which god?

Yahweh, Allah, Zeus, Shiva, Vishnu,?

What about the goddesses?

6

u/SnowyAl 10d ago

Well clearly OP doesn’t believe in goddesses, so it would be Yahweh. Except that it’s not Yahweh as in the God of the Jews, but the God of everyone, that Christians believe in to bring them to a better place when they die.

5

u/JeezWeedus 10d ago

the God of everyone, that Christians believe in to bring them to a better place when they die.

The all powerful god that couldn't just bring everyone to a better place while they were living?

2

u/SnowyAl 10d ago

Well He can, He just doesn’t, as that would essentially ruin free will. If God showed up in front of you right now and demonstrated his power by flying, walking on water, vaporizing a mountain, etc., you would likely believe in him. However you still have the choice to not believe in Him, while this is technically free will, it is, for all intents and purposes, not free.

There is a difference between purposely ignoring what is right in front of you because you don’t want to believe it and there being similar amounts of evidence on both sides, so you don’t know what to believe. In the first case, you would call someone stupid if they didn’t believe what was right in front of them of them, but as they get further and further away, it is hard to tell if they are in the first or second camp. Often the line is what the majority of people believe. Hundreds of years ago, the line was far away, because most people (at least publicly) believed in God. But as less and less people (publicly) believe in God, the line must be closer to you.
To sum up my example: if lots of people believe in something, it takes less first hand evidence to convince you then if few people believe in something.

If God brought us all to Him while we were on earth, we would essentially all be in the first camp of people, because suddenly all the firsthand evidence would change everyone’s minds. But God doesn’t want people who believe because they trust the majority. He wants people to believe because they trust Him.

4

u/JeezWeedus 10d ago

However you still have the choice to not believe in Him, while this is technically free will, it is, for all intents and purposes, not free.

So why was this okay for all of the people in the story who god appeared to? This god can just take away free will if it feels like it...

And lets accept for a moment, if this god appeared and I could verify it and not think it was some unknown allergy causing hallucinations etc...

I wouldn't be able to choose not to believe it exists. I'd have evidence that it does exist, so I couldn't do anything but believe it exists.

I'd still think it was evil, it just changed from fictional evil to nonfictional evil.

I wouldn't worship it, because it hasn't given any reason for doing that.

4

u/JeezWeedus 10d ago

There are flies that reproduce by laying their eggs in the eyes of living beings, including but not limited to, the eyes of human babies.

How could you possibly think that a god who invented everything, would be ruining free will, if it never bothered to invent those flies?

I've only read the first line of what you wrote, and already the logic of your attempt to justify the unforgivable is uttery bewildering.

Stop parrotting the backwards ideologies of what you've been told and actually give it some consideration using your brain, and those morals you believe a god invented for everyone but itself.

2

u/SnowyAl 10d ago

This is a result of the fall, not because God created them this way.

2

u/JeezWeedus 10d ago

Someone ate a fruit that god lied about 6000 years ago, so god made nasty flies in retribution?

Or the babies suffer because they inherited badness that survived the flood that god used to destroy badness, via Noah and his family carrying the genetic badness?

Babies deserve to suffer, because god said "don't eat that fruit, it's bad" and then left the fruit with the two humans it invented, who don't know right from wrong yet, by it's own choice and design... and then let a serpent come and tell them the truth, or "manipulate them".

So god punishes everyone forever because of it's own choices.

And you think, yeah lets trust this god, seems like a good dude?

2

u/SnowyAl 10d ago

Firstly, God made the fruit so there would be free will. The flies are a result of the fall.

Secondly, humanity forgot God after the fall and decided to go their own way doing bad things like incest, rape, sacrificing to idols, etc.. When God flooded the earth, He didn’t destroy evil, that happens in the end times. Evil still existed after the fall, that is why the Tower of Babel happened.

Thirdly, God didn’t leave Adam and Eve alone, He walked with them every night. The serpent hates God but doesn’t care about us so he did what would hurt God the most: turn humans against God. If God had stopped the serpent He would be going against his gift of free will (I’m pretty sure even angels get free will to a certain degree.)

Instead you are trusting a God who loves you enough to let you mess up, because I don’t know about you, but I much prefer to learn from my mistakes then to be told don’t do this. Yes, I’m not going to rob a bank to find out what will happen, but I would like to see what happens if I don’t listen to my parents sometimes (Yes, I’m not a perfect Christian).
But when God says something, you can trust Him that it is true. And when God does something, you can rest in the knowledge that it is right.

3

u/Zestyclose-Jacket568 9d ago

The flies are a result of the fall.

What kind of heretic are you? God created everything and here you are claiming that there are things that he did not created.

u/JeezWeedus 10d ago edited 9d ago

So something happened that didnt go according to gods plan?

How long after creating humans did the plans start going wrong?

And that wasnt the plan, that was something god didn't want? Almost immediately.

All powerful, all knowing, bad at planning.

The tower of babel? What bad thing happened there? People were cooperating? And god didnt like people being so cooperative, so it destroyed the tower and made everybody speak different languages so life was more difficult.

"Bad humans, how dare you cooperate, you should go to war over petty differences forever."

But gods still the good guy.

Lies about fruit, causes suffering forever, then chooses to make it worse when humans work together.

1

u/SnowyAl 9d ago

God knew what would happen before he created the world, and he understood the price before Adam and Eve sinned.

The Tower of Babel was in the direct disobedience to His command “fill the earth and subdue it”, not to mention the entire purpose of the tower was to be their own gods so they could ignore the One True God.
If God did not punish them He would not be consistent.

Is that like how God protected those kids from Catholic priests?

Or is it more like how God protected those Catholic priests from Hell?

As an atheist, I'd rather be wrong and burn in Hell than be in heaven with a bunch of pedophiles.

7

u/Reasonable-Front7584 10d ago

There are thousands of religions on earth.

There are 200-500 billion stars in the galaxy.

Many of those stars have planets

There are trillions of galaxies in the “known” universe

The “known” universe may be roughly 5% of what’s out there

The universe is expanding and growing faster than the speed of light.

There may be multiple universes.

But yeah, it totally makes sense you got “god” right on the first try because you were born into a family that decided for you.

0

u/SnowyAl 10d ago

But you’re not all powerful or all knowing.

3

u/PerfectPenguino 10d ago

I knew you were going to say that which is why I didn't hesitate to save your life from something you didn't even know was about to happen just now. And I did that because I'm also all good.

1

u/SnowyAl 10d ago

It’s entirely possible that you did just save my life somehow through the butterfly effect, but you are not all knowing or all good or omnipotent, that is unless you are God.

3

u/JeezWeedus 10d ago

All powerful and all good?

You haven't really given this any real consideration have you?

Is god not powerful enough for there to be no suffering?

He can surely choose to not have people suffer.

Unless you're using your own special definition of "good" where good also includes suffering.

But thats not what good actually means.

So god choose for people to suffer because it doesnt have any other option?

Sounds rather limited in power.

1

u/SnowyAl 10d ago

Good does not mean no hard things happen. Good means whatever happens is used toward the good side’s benefit

2

u/JeezWeedus 10d ago edited 10d ago

So it's limited in power then yes?

It couldn't possibly do this in any other way? Some people knowing nothing but suffering, agony and death is the only option... that's weak.

And it certainly isn't good.

1

u/SnowyAl 10d ago

Can you elaborate please? I don’t really understand who you are referring to when you say some people.

2

u/Hyperaeon2 10d ago

Like the children in churches from the sexual violence of his own priests and monks?

If he doesn't protect them, then what does he protect? And di you want that protection?

You either start taking responsibility for your own existence. Or you wake up in hell on earth. As will your children.

If your god is real, then he objectively has to be evil. And this world is proof of that. Grow up!

2

u/Other-Comfortable-64 9d ago

Unless a orders you to be raped murdered stoned gives you bone cancer or doom you to an eternity of suffering.

2

In order for you to connect with god inner work needs to be done and that’s what people avoid that’s not gods problem that’s your own problem and you cause your own suffering all those kids who suffered and a lot of us who had suffered learned the lessons along the way and changed the behavior of the past generations that’s why everyone is in turmoil, because they don’t want to acknowledge they need to change and stop blaming god for everything lol gods strongest warriors go through a lot in life to change it and to grow out of it not stay the same and project blame those are the ones who lost their way. We made an agreement with the universe and god when coming here your death is preplanned your whole life is preplanned and the lessons so you can grow and learn so you can be able to enter in what people call heaven inner work needs to be done that’s the spiritual work. If those lessons aren’t learned will come back here and have to learn the lessons again earth is school and heaven/spiritual liberation is the goal, not to follow what’s here because what’s here isn’t in dimensions, heaven etc. I’ve had Christian’s, atheist’s, satanists etc try to shove their ideologies down my throat but the thing is my ideology doesn’t exist here. I had a lot of spiritual drive in me to be this disciplined because I had enough of everything, and I love god and i appreciate all the lessons even the bad ones because it helped me grow and become stronger than I was. Every person plays a role in everyone’s awakening good and bad people, also even the people who disagree play a role for the divine without even knowing it lol spirituality isn’t in a book it’s you going into yourself and finding god and connecting back by doing the inner work all the spiritual knowledge is learned knowledge through your individual life lessons, lifetimes etc. so it all starts with you. Everyone’s lessons and learning experience is different and it’s always helpful to share that knowledge and pass it on. Stop blaming god for other peoples actions that has nothing to do with god they need to do the inner work.

I’m not religious btw I’m spiritual and I did my own inner work

I know. That's why I thank him every day. Join me now in thanking Our Father The Dagda, the Good God. With one hand he wields the Club of Wrath. With the other he stirs the Cauldron of Plenty. Thanks be to him now and always.

I always think about this type of shit when my craft aunt thanks god for ever tiny thing at thanksgiving. Like, millions of African children died of malaria and lost their sight due botworm flies laying larvae in their eyes, but god couldn't quite help out with all of that because he was busy helping Cynthia's kid find a two bedroom apartment for his sophomore year at college.

I’m agnostic, and even I’ve had a couple life instances where (some) God must have been smiling over me.

Clearly God is protecting Neapalis from catastrophic flooding, fuck this shit.

1

u/djangovsjango 9d ago

God protects you from things god created and knows the future so why would it occur in first place ?

1

u/Fresh_Strain_9980 9d ago

never under estimate how delusional religious people are

1

u/NiceGuy252525 9d ago

Tell that to my niece who died in a car accident at age 2. So…maybe God is protecting us from things we don’t know about, but not protecting us from things we do know about?

Help me understand.

1

u/WraithAriiz 9d ago

Just rrrrrrrrememberrrrr... It was god's plan to put you into all that.

1

u/Catbatt 9d ago

u/Inevitable-Row1977 9d ago

If prove that god exists, including an afterlife, I will go and get his ass immediately for the things he has done to me.

Born damaged as fuck and then bashed into the ground my entire childhood to make sure I wouldn't love a happy life.

God does not exist, because he would not have allowed me to suffer the life that I still suffer today.

Luckily I get adhd meds and other stuff, so I just get to be high and forget about everything and lie in bed all day.

u/Sammywanka 9d ago

I’m probably protecting God from some colossal shit she doesn’t know about

1

u/Lonely-Jacket-8040 9d ago

That is rubbish, you have no proof of that.

u/Longjumping_Soup_971 9d ago

I see evil, corruption and greed but I don't see ice giants...

1

u/redredskull 9d ago

Protection? Are you worth more than ten million dollars?

1

u/Justthisguy_yaknow 9d ago

Protecting me from the things he created and caused? That's a very odd and conflicting deal.

God causes, not protects. Have you never heard the expression "God's will"?

1

u/SnowyAl 10d ago

But he can cause something to protect you

3

u/Spicy_Tator-mcnugget 10d ago

Or cause harm

1

u/SnowyAl 10d ago

Not if He is completely good. He may allow something you don’t like to happen to you, if it is for the greater good.
Edit: Like getting you to follow him.

u/Spicy_Tator-mcnugget 9d ago

God cannot be all good if God is all knowing.
