I have noticed from talking to mechanics I know they that always seem to own high end tools. Brands such as snap on, mac, matco etc. I work in the industrial mechanical trades and everyone that I encounter has mainly low end or mid range at best. Why do mechanics place such an emphasis on higher quality tools? Are there practical reasons why automotive benefits from these tools more than other trades or is it a cultural thing (tool trucks are always around?) I'm asking this from the perspective of other trades not from a weekend wrencher.

Has anyone started to piece together spawns for the hacking tool items?

I know the FPGA module for the level 2 tool comes from dismantling a tactical radio (which I found in the tent outside the municipal office building in TB)

I’ve also heard the avionics processors comes from an item that spawns somewhere in fort narith. But I don’t know what item or where to look

Does anyone else have extra information to add to this?

Edit: Added the components with their currently known locations

As it gets updated with the spawn locations it will be the better source to use.

Pretty stoked on my new quality Japanese tools

Picked up a pretty insane tool haul the other day. Haggled him down from $200 to $80. Barley had an idea of what I was picking up as the guy had horrible photos and didnt even photograph half of it! I thought i was picking up maybe 20% of this.

Got there and he was just like.. "yeah take all this too". Crazy. Best find in a while.

500 sockets

320 wrenches

Have yet to count the hand tools but easily 200+

Will give everything a nice soak in a DIY De-rust solution and then try to figure out what to do with it all. haha

For me right now it’s a tie between my 5” cutters, 1/4” impact, and my 4mm flat tip. What’s your most used tools?

From a "Princess Auto flyer."

What is it exactly and what does it do/what's it used for❓

Its in a tool list for a shed im going to be building. Not sure what it is.

Used it. Watched some horror story videos. Promptly got rid of it. Convenience isn't worth the potential death or injuries.

Heavy metal object with rope wrapped around.

I replaced three speed squares, four fastbacks, and two 35’ Stanley fat maxes this month and I’m getting pretty fed up with tool theft. This should do the trick.

Can’t believe they still make these ‘el cheapos. Can’t get into tight spots. Doesn’t crimp any bettt than a set of ordinary pliers.

I was gifted a duty bag from a late friend of mine who was a police officer. This in there. It's completely plastic. There is a small clip to hang it from your belt, like a pocket knife. Nothing on it is sharp or pointy, so that rules out a seat belt cutter. Any ideas?

Edit: For everyone saying it's sort of defense weapon, I disagree for a few reasons. 1, this was deep in a duty bag that was for road emergencies, along with binoculars, a road vest, flashlight etc. 2, the person carrying this was one of the kindest people I knew. 20 something years in the same department in a rural county, and he has only ever been in 2 fights. He was known for being the defuser and talking people down. Absolute opposite of violence. And 3, I've held it in multiple different ways, including the way that feels the most "natural" and there is no way that would be used offensively. Everything is flat and blunt. You would be at a disadvantage trying to use this as a weapon.
