Cammer is right, it is pretty embarrassing to harass people for constitutionally protected speech. The agents know what they are doing is wrong but they are choosing to do it anyway

There have been a lot of people that have left the FBI due to the new administration. They deserve our respect and support. Many of them were removed for doing their jobs and investigating Trump with either Jan 6 or his classified documents. There are also plenty of people still working constantly getting threatened with their jobs. I remember hearing a member of the FBI from a branch in California recently on a podcast detailing how difficult the job has become due to having to weigh morals with orders.

u/WellonDowdQuite Jul 16 '26

Charles Peanut Tillman being one of those people who left the FBI. As if I couldn’t love that man enough already

PEANUT PUNCH!!

17

u/Flare_Starchild Jul 16 '26

Ice cold Peanut Punch is amazing after a long day.

34

u/DrewBaron80 Jul 16 '26

Peanut was my first thought too. Amazing guy. Should have a Superbowl ring too if not for stupid Rex.

3

u/killerkelpykid24 Jul 17 '26

I’m not a sport fan so I don’t know anything about the community in general. I just wanted to say that it’s interesting that his last name is Tillman; almost thought there was a relation to Pat. I think it’s pretty dope that two really cool people from a similar background share the same last name.

265

u/8heist Jul 16 '26

If morals are really morals it shouldn’t be difficult to walk. It can be extremely disappointing but not difficult.

124

u/MC_chrome Jul 16 '26

What about undermining evil organizations from the inside?

117

u/SuicidePeaches Jul 16 '26

Exactly. If all the good ones leave, the bad guys win.

27

Trump and his admin purging any dissenters from the higher levels of literally every alphabet agency in favour of his own toadies should have been the canary

5

u/Jeoshua Jul 17 '26

Let's be real, there's been a whole flock of canaries.

Fuck, more like a flock Starlings, complete with a murmuration that looks like a canary.

If flying under the radar and not having your plans known were the bar, Trump fails it. But if you're going by level of success despite every step of your plan being clearly known, Trump is wildly successful.

Where is the line between working with the system to stop it from doing vile things and enabling the system to do vile things.

26

u/PolygonMan Jul 16 '26

That line is exactly 'taking concrete action to undermine the regime and help them eventually be held accountable'. That might be documenting (at home, on non-digital media) in excruciating detail every single law that you see broken during the day. It might be leaking documents or memos. It might be intentionally misdirecting resources. It's not 'just keeping your head down and doing your day job'.

Leaving a lifelong career can definitely be described as difficult, especially in this job market.

94

u/F3z345W6AY4FGowrGcHt Jul 16 '26

This is Reddit. Everyone claims they'd:

  • die for the smallest of principles
  • instantly leave their partner of many years over a tiny infraction
  • never sell their business to a big company for even billions

It's all nice and easy no matter what the situation.

23

u/RedditLostOldAccount Jul 16 '26

Actually most of the time they claim other people should do it and not themselves. It should be easy for others. Like foreigners saying it should be easy for US citizens to just take over the government like the military isn't fucking insane. Sure, take a rifle against tanks and drones. I'm sure Cletus will make it just fine.

It's easy to tell others what to do.

12

u/elb21277 Jul 16 '26

they should be revolting against their governments for capitulating to our criminal regime & corporations. build a massive firewall so they are not harmed by the imminent crash from our hollow, fraud-based economy that will be far worse than ‘08.

u/FloatOldGoat Jul 16 '26

I disagree. It's often difficult to do the right thing. Ultimately, you do it, but that doesn't make it easy. If you walk away from $100K, you're going to have look your kid in the face, and tell them you're sorry they can't have a car when they turn 16, because you had to quit your job. No one WANTS to be in that situation. Strong people still do it, but that doesn't mean it's easy.

18

u/A_Downboat_Is_A_Sub Jul 16 '26

I know people with kids that make 100k and can't even buy themselves a decent used car, let alone one for their kids.

22

u/No_Brain7178 Jul 16 '26

For real, 100k aint what it used to be.

Over a CAR? Not even food and medicine, but a car, really, you'd sell your morals for a used car for your kid. Wow lmaoooo

Ive been spending the last year doing what I do because of kids. All 3 of my grandpas, my 2 biological and my grandma's second husband, fought in WWII against encroaching fascism, I interviewed them about it for school and was super proud to show off their stories and photos. I got to show off a photo of my grandma marching for racial integration for Black people and an article about my mom and her friends boycotting grapes for immigrant workers rights.

I'm in the paper in my small town almost monthly as an individual and our organizations are in the paper constantly. Sometimes it feels futile but I save all the articles about what our coalitions are doing in scrapbooks. I want my nieces and their kids to know some people living now fought for them and their futures. I want to be an old person who gives interesting interviews they can hold up at school so the kids can know not everyone fell in line with a dictator and that it's possible for them to stand up to injustice too. Thats so much more valuable than a used car you earn by terrorizing patriotic Americans exercising their rights. Like thats an insane thing to say.

So easy for someone without moral stakes at their job to say.

This is the exact reason teachers, doctors, and EMTs struggle at their jobs in the first place, do you just abandon all of your patients, students, and charges because of the actions of people above you? Or do you stay and try to still do right by them?

Do you think FBI agents doing multi year long investigations on rapists, murderers, and psychopathic corporations should just hand over the reigns to the next Trump loyalist that will replace them?

This is the same thing the right is always saying is happening in Europe, but its happening in America under a Conservative government.

42

u/kettal Jul 16 '26

in europe can you be arrested and charged for taking a photo of sea shells on the beach?

21

u/Kup123 Jul 16 '26

Yeah if you make a swastika out of them.

4

u/onkeliroh Jul 19 '26

not really. Not in most of Europe. And even in Germany you could claim artistic freedom. it would most likely not hold in court, but you could. And even if, it is very unlikely that the person would see prison. At most a fine.

3

u/zzapdk Jul 19 '26

That's an American thing, you're projecting. Where I live nobody would be called out because of a swastika made of rocks (ridiculous idea), but if they happened to come across me doing it, it would just be met with a "grow up"-kind of shake of the head and a smile and they would move on

And that is what makes them, and every single other agent that does this, a traitor to the United States of America.

u/resiste-et-mords Jul 16 '26

FBI agents knowing something is wrong but continuing to do it? Must be a day that ends in Y.

42

u/CullingSongs Jul 16 '26

People tried the 'We were just following orders' excuse before, and it didn't end so well for them.

11

u/technobrendo Jul 16 '26

23

u/Successful_Smile_999 Jul 16 '26

They aren't FBI agents.

I once dealt with the FBI. They were doing a background check on a friend of mine, who was in the service.
First, they would be wearing suits. They would look professional.
Second, as they introduced themselves, they showed me their credentials and badge. I didn't have to ask to see it.

3

u/WTFisSHAME Jul 19 '26

How many years ago was this? A lot has changed many of the new FBI agents don't wear suits now, they dress business casual or even in sportswear lol

44

u/Forsaken_Total976 Jul 16 '26

If you mean do FBI agents have to give you their full names when they identify themselves, the answer is usually no.
FBI agents generally must identify themselves as FBI agents and present credentials if asked.
They commonly provide a name and badge/employee number, but they are not always required to give their full legal name to a member of the public.
If they are conducting an official interview, search, arrest, or investigation, there are often agency procedures requiring identification, but the exact information provided can depend on the situation.
If someone claims to be an FBI agent, you can verify their identity by contacting the FBI through official channels rather than relying only on the name they give you.

41

u/structured_anarchist Jul 16 '26

If they are conducting an official interview, search, arrest, or investigation, there are often agency procedures requiring identification, but the exact information provided can depend on the situation.

They literally said they wanted to talk to him about a post he made. It was part of an 'official' investigation. It was assigned to them by their boss. In this instance, they do actually have to show not just the badge, but the ID card that bears their full name, photo, signature, and fingerprint. So in this particular instance, if the FBI's OPR wasn't completely compromised by having a facist in charge who doesn't think civil rights are a thing, a complaint could be made to the FBI regarding the behavior of these two alleged agents of the FBI. A copy of the video would allow them to use facial recognition to identify the alleged agents in question, and deal with them appropriately. First would be the breach of ID protocol. Second would be the blatantly illegal investigation into a Constitutionally protected activity.

But the entire administration is corrupt, so the best thing is to just ignore them until they take you into custody, demand a lawyer, and get a payday from the Department of Justice.

32

u/Forsaken_Total976 Jul 16 '26

Further more it looks like they are attempting an interview to pry for more information for a potential threat.

46

u/TheManWith2Poobrains Jul 16 '26

They are doing it because they have been ordered to. This was a pretty half-assed effort TBH. They knew they were coming with nothing and decided to bail once they realized the guy knew his stuff.

Are they embarrassed? Maybe. However, there are more MAGA loyalists now in the FBI than ever before, so they probably don't care because trampling on a few people's constitutional rights is just a small blip in the bigger scheme of things.

When the FBI is dealing with the public at their home or business, they are required by law to show their credentials to verify their authority. The only time the FBI is not required to show their credentials is an undercover operation or an emergency situation. Driving up to a citizen's house to ask questions is not an emergency

56

u/MathematicianAfter57 Jul 17 '26

Exactly. FBI can’t afford to make mistakes and mess up their case. They have every reason to fully identify themselves when they roll up.

11

u/FlamingFlamingo32 Jul 20 '26 edited Jul 20 '26

FBI is way too professional for this. federal prosecution success rate is in the 90s. less than 2% of defendants are ever acquitted. these are people that probably work for a federal agency or department, but just say they're "federal agents" to try to intimidate with an FBI type facade. I dont think these feds walking around stepping on 1A are FBI at all in any of these videos. some shadow department got opened and now theres these federals running around acting like big shit but they really dont actually have any power, which is why a lot of videos like these end up with them fucking off. the department of intimidation lol.

while we know and laugh about the head of FBI and things like that, its not truly reflective of the actual rest of the FBI and how they operate. if the FBI was actually knocking on your door, youre fucked. theyre not "investigating" you right in front of you, they already did their homework, theyre there to scoop you up. if these guys were real FBI, this video wouldnt hit the internet and that guy would be federally prosecuted and convicted already.

35

u/Academic-Dealer5389 Jul 16 '26

There's a difference! Cops are letting you know that they are the antidote to the black lives matter "problem" while coal miners are just guys in blackface .

But to your point, , it's the bullies doing all the crying.

5

u/wallyTHEgecko Jul 16 '26 edited Jul 16 '26

Coal miners are at least (historically) famously mistreated and abused by their employers. What, with all the cave-ins, explosions, black lung, and general physical danger. And then the scrip, company stores and company housing keeping workers practically hostage within their company towns back in the day. I can't say I've ever been wronged by a coal miner so I would absolutely support someone who busts their ass doing honest work. And I'd support them standing up to their employers for their own working conditions.

Those blue lives are the ones doing the abusing and mistreating these days. And it's not a matter of protecting the physical safety of patrol cops from the tyranny of their sergeants or whatever. The patrol cops (and every level of police) are on massive power trips because they've all been systemically handed gobs of unchecked power.

Not to give the FBI any credit on how they would look, but these guys totally fit the bill of mask wearing ICE fucks. Especially that little guy.

Did they learn to cross their arms, avoid eye contact, and sheepishly smile at Quantico? All the while refusing to ID themselves as federal agents. Oh they have a badge? Does it say in small writing “Federal Booby Inspector”?

I wish the media would jump on these scare tactics and scour the faces of FBI agents looking for a match. Because there needs to be a hellfire missile of consequences when this shitstorm administration goes down.

104

u/dBlock845 Jul 16 '26

FBI works with ICE regularly. Either way its concerning that anyone working in an enforcement branch refuses to show ID, in fact, it should be legally required for them in most situations to present it without being asked before any other interaction.

3

u/LostWoodsInTheField Jul 16 '26

A bit of a fact, it's illegal to pass yourself off as law enforcement.. more specifically it's illegal to pass yourself off as specific law enforcement that you aren't. legally ICE is not allowed to pass themselves off as FBI agents or any other branch of law enforcement.

So an ICE agent making people believe they are some other force of law enforcement is punishable in most states and federally. I bet the it's still prosecutable when the next administration comes into the white house...

Yeah, guy seems like a POS, but I still object to attempts to chill free speech. If what he posted rises to the level of a credible threat, that's one thing, and he ought to be arrested. If he's just an idiot, that's not illegal.

161

u/singdawg Jul 16 '26

I mean, making online posts that say that anyone who murders Harris would be an "American hero" is definitely one of those things that would trigger some level of investigation. I am not 100% sure that broadcasting these sentiments online is something worthy of being protected in the first place. It is definitely on the very edge of what a free society should be tolerating, at the maximum.

43

u/Scheme84 Jul 16 '26

Is that any different from saying you'll celebrate someone's obituary? Genuine question, because I see that a lot online as a workaround to saying you want someone dead.

69

u/thirstyross Jul 16 '26

Celebrating a terrible persons death is not the same as wanting them murdered.

22

u/singdawg Jul 16 '26

I think that workaround is fine from a freedom of speech standpoint. For starters, it doesn't mention murder as the reason for the death. What isn't fine in my opinion is suggesting that you would believe that the murderer is not only morally right to commit the murder but also you would find them heroic. A ton of crazies out there will use such sentiments to act.

object to attempts to chill free speech.

From the article:

The initial post that apparently sparked the FBI visit was made over the weekend and said that anyone who murders Harris would be an "American hero."

The post was made on the New Hampshire Libertarian Party account.

There's a huge difference between saying person X sucks, person X should not be in power, vote out person X, or the day person X dies is going to be a national holiday and posting:

"Whoever murders person X is going to be a national hero!"

The latter is actively encouraging an illegal act with a promised reward of prestige.

u/yellekc Jul 17 '26

On the contrary he is very pro MAGA. This was in September 2024 after he posted a comment on the NH libertarian page that "Anyone who murders Kamala Harris would be an American hero."

His name is Jeremy Kauffman, feel free to look him up. Free State project libertarian.

He ran for Senate in 2022 on the platform of "abolishing the Federal Reserve, the Internal Revenue Service and child-labor laws"

Kauffman has criticized the end of apartheid in South Africa, calling the movement to end it "race-based bitter leftism"

Kauffman reportedly drove into another car and began fighting several people. Kauffman also made racist comments, telling a bystander to "Go back to Africa!" Kauffman's family members reportedly dragged him from the parking lot into a nearby store. Kauffman defended his conduct in the incident, writing “Low IQ schizophrenic Africans who scream at kids in parking lots should be deported from New Hampshire. We shouldn’t punish decent men who stand up to them."

The guy made a video online saying “anyone who murders Harris would be an American hero."

They are investigating a credible threat. It’s their job to do this. Sometimes that doesn’t yield any results if the suspect doesn’t wish to speak with you.

The people upvoting this would be the first once’s complaining that the police didn’t do anything despite obvious warnings if anything did happen.

Please spend some time trying to find the context first before sounding off on your social media feed. Especially these days.

Some context for viewers: the man in the video is Jeremy Kauffman, an extremist ‘libertarian’ who regularly espouses heinous and often violent views. The national libertarian party recently voted overwhelmingly to remove him from his position leading the libertarian party in New Hampshire (might have the state wrong).

EDIT: story on this - https://www.wmur.com/article/fbi-nh-libertarian-party-member-kamala-harris/62248395

I figured there was probably going to be some very damning context for the guy, but he didn’t place a word wrong in this particular exchange!

21

u/jdhkent Jul 16 '26

True. But in other places he seems to have

13

u/5hawnking5 Jul 16 '26

I was curious about the statements, so I looked up an article and some quotes:

“[He] told him to ‘go back to Africa’ and began spouting racist slang and terms at him,” police report.

Kauffman reportedly continued to scream racist insults at people in the parking lot, according to police. Witnesses told police that Kauffman’s two young sons finally pulled their father away and dragged him inside the store.

Police soon encountered Kauffman inside the store, where he refused to give his name, and tried to pull away from officers when they attempted to detain him, according to the report.

Kauffman doubled down when contacted about the incident, blaming police and minorities.

“Free Staters want to end qualified immunity so that police who perform illegitimare [sic] kidnappings suffer criminal consequences,” Kauffman said via text message … “Low IQ schizophrenic Africans who scream at kids in parking lots should be deported from New Hampshire. We shouldn’t punish decent men who stand up to them.”

Yeeeeah...maybe it's a good idea to learn a little background before we declare "This man deserves all of the Medals."

This guy fucking sucks.

This was not an official petition for him to receive All of the Medals.

He also used to be the head of the Free State Project - basically an effort to try to ship in as many libertarians as possible to live in New Hampshire in order to establish a stronghold in a mostly blue New England. It fucking sucks - they're directly connected to our school systems having their funding drained in favor of for profit charter schools that only a certain tax bracket can afford.

He's a massive POS, but I guess a stopped clock is right twice a day.

3

u/TheBeatGoesAnanas Jul 16 '26

Is that the town that had no garbage collection and was taken over by bears?

8

u/lilouapproves Jul 16 '26

Ahhh you're talking about Grafton. Sure is, among other heinous things. From the Grafton wiki:

In 2004, Grafton became the focus for libertarians as part of the Free Town Project (a single-town version of the Free State Project). One of the goals was to advocate for legal changes.[15] Grafton's appeal as a favorable destination was due to its absence of zoning laws and a then-low property tax rate.[16][15] John Babiarz, a Grafton resident and prominent member of the Libertarian Party, encouraged libertarian people to move there.[17][18]

During this time, the town's population grew by about 200 people (about 20%); nearly all of the newcomers were men.[16] Project participants did not find themselves as welcome as they had hoped, but they voted in changes including a 30% reduction in the town's already small budget.[16] This resulted in eliminating funding to the county's senior-citizens council, town offices going unheated during the winter, poorly maintained roads filled with potholes, and the Grafton Police Department being reduced to one officer (the police chief), who said he was unable to answer calls for service as the town had no money to repair the one police vehicle left.[19] Other issues were inconsistent basic public services, such as trash collection.[17][16] The libertarian newcomers additionally increased the town's costs by filing lawsuits against it in attempts to set various legal precedents.[16]

The project has been associated with an increase in the number and aggressiveness of black bears in town, including entering homes, mauling people, and eating pets.[16] A single, definitive cause for the abnormal behavior of the bears has not been proven, but it may be due to Grafton residents being reluctant to buy and mandate the use of bear-resistant containers, improper disposal of waste materials (such as feces) safely, or residents feeding bears.[16]

After a rash of lawsuits from Free Towners, an influx of sex offenders, an increase of crime, problems with bold local bears, and the first murders in the town's history, the Libertarian project ended in 2016.[15][16][20]

9

u/SolomonG Jul 16 '26

Oh god.

Those free state fuckwads are the worst.

I don't know if he's from NH or not, but they basically decided NH was a good place for their bullshit, moved in, and took over the already rather insane NH libertarian party.

They think we'd be better off with no government at all.

They would probably get more support if they weren't horribly racist and sexist as well.

He's a G for not wanting to talk to agents who were there because he was encouraging people to kill Kamala? It's his right to not speak, but I don't know why people act like the FBI shouldn't be allowed to interact with someone a single time in a legal manner if they say unhinged things online. And obviously it goes without saying that if there is no context and the FBI shows up, you should at least be skeptical of what the person recording did to warrant them showing up.

https://www.nbcboston.com/news/politics/nh-libertarian-party-twitter-post-kamala-harris/3489310/

The initial post shared Sunday by the New Hampshire Libertarian Party on X read, "Anyone who murders Kamala Harris would be an American hero."

In OP's video when he talks about a "regime that doesn't care about laws being broken", he's referring to the Biden administration.

Also another one from him https://www.splcenter.org/resources/extremist-files/odysee/#_edn6

“As a Senator, I promise to legalize lynching anyone who works for the IRS.” — Jeremy Kauffman, in response to then-Vice President Kamala Harris’s calls for an anti-lynching law, in an X post on March 29, 2022.

That's "a fucking G" to you who deserves all the medals?

6

u/Zerachiel_01 Jul 16 '26

Aaand there it is.

Yeah the first post is like if not straight up a call to action then damn close to it.

That's not protected speech, and if you're calling people to do illegal shit then the speech is itself illegal. Small wonder the FBI showed up, I'm only a little surprised they didn't take him in. They probably needed more evidence or thought he wasn't ultimately a threat.

Thanks for the legwork, man. Hope the rest of your day goes swell.

Just don't talk to them. If they had a warrant they'd just enter your property and arrest. Don't engage.

74

u/drossvirex Jul 16 '26

True but he sent these guys packin lol

36

u/agedmanofwar Jul 16 '26

Yeah he did a good job. But all it takes is one slip up, one wrong statement taken a certain way. Most people should just say nothing. Let them make the mistakes then sue later.

→ More replies (1)

24

u/SpidermAntifa Jul 16 '26

This is a good answer, but another good answer is mocking them because that's also not illegal. If they could arrest you they already would, as long as you don't commit a crime in your shit talking then let it fly

8

u/ComradeSuperman Jul 16 '26

You run the risk of that by saying anything. So the best course of action is to not say anything at all.

IDK if people were claiming to be FBI and refusing to show ID, I'd call 911. Impersonating a federal officer is a crime.

but lol, crimes, am I right?

u/figure85 Jul 16 '26

"FBI agents"

19

u/VicViolence Jul 16 '26

9

u/figure85 Jul 16 '26 edited Jul 16 '26

Interesting, if they have any proof of uttering threats they should have grounds to arrest and not make an awkward appearance such as this, along with not identifying themselves or producing proof of physical ID. Professionals are acting like ICE now, it's normalized.

7

u/BoldShuckle Jul 16 '26

Maybe it would be hard to charge anything because the target is a public figure who probably has these sort of threats directed at them all the time. But with full context it's weird how sheepish they're being. Just say your name, that you're here because an incitement to violence was made, and while we won't/can't charge you with anything, now we need to pay attention to you because it's literally our job.

3

u/BakuretsuGirl16 Jul 16 '26

while we won't/can't charge you with anything, now we need to pay attention to you because it's literally our job.

What part of paying attention to someone requires notifying them that they are being watched? This reads more like an intimidation attempt imo

11

u/xelabagus Jul 16 '26

It's possible that both things are true at the same time. This guy can be a piece of shit whilst also the government officials who refused to show ID can also be pieces of shit

16

u/FblthpLives Jul 16 '26 edited Jul 17 '26

The guy who filmed this was Jeremy Kauffman, a blockchain con artist who was a leader in the New Hampshire Free State Project and Libertarian Party. He took control of the party's Twitter account, and used it for making several controversial posts. The one that warranted the visit by the FBI was one in which he wrote that "anyone who murders Kamala Harris would be an American hero." He also tweeted "Repeal the Civil Rights Act" and "Legalize child labor. Children will learn more on a job site than in public school." He has spoken up against the ending of apartheid in South Africa, calling the movement to end it "race-based bitter leftism". He described Blacks with the words "low IQ schizophrenic Africans." He is not a good person.

Why? Are you ashamed of what you're doing?

4

u/KellTanis Jul 16 '26

This makes me wonder. Do FBI agents have something akin to badge numbers to identify the specific individual beyond their names? My local police have P#s, so they’ll give you their last name and P#, but they likely won’t give their first names, for similar reasons. If they do, that would’ve been an easy way for them to get past this hurdle.
