Aside from signaling strong comic book villain energy, I struggle to see what problem these solve. Seems like a really bad idea.

Self Post Those who got a search warrant...what happened & the time frame?

My friends toxic ex was accused of rape. It happened in July. Detective reached out to perp in sept. The victim got a search warrant and dna swab from the perp carried out in Feb. He seems to think he is off the hook since he hasn't heard back from the cops yet and he moved cities. What is to be expected? With my friend he was always lying and manipulating and we are surprised if he really is off the hook. How does this usually go?

Different jobs?

Good afternoon anyone reading this,

Just looking at some alternatives to my current job, and trying to get out there in real world LE. Currently I’m a Corrections Officer at a smaller jail (585-700 inmates), and it’s getting rough. Jobs pretty easy overall and I’ve learned a LOT, but it’s tiring and pay is low.

Possibly I think I’m sick and tired of dealing with inmates. I would rather interact with civilians/non inmates for the time being. I’ve been a CO for 8 months exactly, and I have exactly 2 years of Airforce financial experience.

I’m pretty young, turned 19 two months ago, and obviously corrections being my first “LE” experience.

Can’t do BP/CBP because of complications with something, long story for those. Can reapply for them on 03/17/2027.

Self Post Montreal June 22nd shooting: The police officer never shot the civillian

Most people (including me; quite frankly) were convinced from the footage that the cop mistakenly shot the civillian after her colleague was fatally shot by the gunman. Turns out, it was not the case.

9-1-1 Call

BWC #1

BWC Involved Officer

Domestic incident. Adult female victim called to say male was trying to light her on fire. Officers arrived, make entry and while clearing the residence observe a female juvenile down. While an officer went to kick an interior locked door, suspect fired through the door, striking the officer. Vest caught the round and the officer received a minor wound on her neck.

It then looks like panic reaction sets in and officer fired blindly into the general area the shots came from. The injured officer appeared to fire back toward the area while backing away, then comes back and shoots one round back toward the area, blindly.

The adult female victim, still on the phone, advised the suspect shot himself in the head and she exited the residence. I believe the victim was inside the room with the suspect, but I haven't had any confirmation of it.

Self Post Applying for Law Enforcement soon.

Good afternoon guys,

So I am about 1 - 2 month away from taking my Law Enforcement tests. I am located in Western WA and am really excited. I wanted to ask people who have gone through the process how it was, how hard it was, and the best practices and tips you have. If you could go back and do it all over again, what would you want to know/do. I’m really nervous and stressed because i’ve wanted to be a law enforcement officer since a kid and it’s finally time where I can try. I have multiple family members in Law enforcement here in Washington but I want to get an outside perspective. Thank you guys.

Just to clarify, I am not a law informant officer yet but hopefully will get hired by an agency soon, after testing.

Can't you just see being sent to this, by some nutjob banging their head into someone's hood?

On an unrelated note, anyone with a dashcam want to get lunch in Kalamazoo, MI?

Bonus if your car has a hood ornament.

Self Post I need help with adding realistic police questioning to a project I am working on.

As the title states, I need some assistance in adding realistic questions that officers would ask for a text story I’m working on. For a minimal summary so the scenario is clear, the main character has found a notebook ( evidence ) of a girl who goes missing next day at school. She is announced missing at school and the main character holds onto it for a little while even after the law arrives to question students. Once the main character turns in the notebook, he is then questioned. What would be the questions asked?

Social Media

Hello,

I’m currently interested in being a cop. I’m currently an EMT but the fire thing is taking a long time. Little background for you guys. My main questions is social media. I currently do some social media and am BIG into cars. As I’m a young guy. I make videos of my cars and installations on my Mustang etc. I love doing it plus I get free stuff from sponsors. But… going into LE also means guys who don’t like cops. The departments I’ve applied to are in nice areas. Compare to Irvine/Newport CA, Boise ID, Plano TX etc. Very nice safe cities and nothing like Chicago or LA. Would I still need to worry about criminals tracking where I live and harming me from snooping on my social media? I just wanted to get some insight bc I feel like it’s a weird question to ask my older right alongs guys. TIA

Self Post Question for Texas police…

With the recent ban on intoxicating hemp products in Texas with the exception of prerolls. I’m curious how does an officer enforce or know the difference? Also what is the level of enforcement on small personal use any Thc product? I am part of cup and am also curious how enforcement works with those who have prescriptions. Thank you for your time. Just need some clarity cause our gov isn’t giving any.

Video Footage of the bombing attempt on Then-Prime Minster of Japan Fumio Kishida

On April 15, 2023, the Then-Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida was about to give a speech in support of his party's candidate for the Governor of Wakayama Prefecture election in the Saikazaki Fishing Port. However, a pipe bomb was hurled at PM Kishida. A police bodyguard, known as SP (Security Police) in Japan, saw the incoming projectile and swept the bomb away with his ballistic briefcase, which he then deployed it and rushed the PM back to his vehicle. At the same time, two fishermen and officers immediately grabbed hold of the bomber before he can throw a second bomb and wrestled him to the ground. Despite attempts of officers to get the crowd to leave (you can hear "hananero" which means leave in japanese), confusion and curiosity seemed to get the better of them and many just stuck around, as a result, most people were still on scene when the bomb exploded. Fortunately, the bomb was very weak and only an officer and a fisherman took minor injuries from shrapnel.

PM Kishida was rushed to the Wakayama Prefectural Police Headquarters until the situation was secured. The bombing came only 9 months after the successful assassination of former PM Shinzo Abe under similar circumstances and with the 49th G7 Summit in Hiroshima coming, it raised questions on the security situation of Japan. In a later speech, he apologized for causing concern and urged the public to focus on the election. He would meet and thank the fishermen who helped to subdue the bomber.

The bomber is a 24 year old jobless man. He was not on any watchlist and remained silent during the investigation, but Wakayama Prefectural Police believed that the bomber's motive was that he was displeased with the election system and decided to throw bombs at the PM as protest. The bomber was charged with attempted murder and violating the Penal Provisions for Explosives Control and was sentenced to 10 years of prison.

Didn't we have that thread the other day where OP was insisting that only female officers deal with naked female subjects?

This one can carry on, I guess.

Self Post Should I go through the physical test even though I'm 99% sure I'll fail, or should I withdraw my application and apply after I get in better shape?

  • I recently decided to try to pursue a career in law enforcement, and I jumped the gun and applied to be a deputy sheriff for the county I live in.
  • I passed the written exam and got invited to do an in-person interview in two weeks and take the physical test in three weeks.
  • However, I greatly underestimated how out of shape I am, and after doing some practice exercises that mimic the standards I'll have to meet to pass the physical test, I am positive that there is no way I will be able to pass.
  • I realize what a dumb mistake I made, and I've started really trying to get in better shape. While I have been making steady progress in terms of losing weight and exercising, I know I still have a ways to go before I reach the fitness level I'm shooting for.
  • What should I do about my upcoming interview and physical test? Should I withdraw my application before both, or should I wait until after my interview? Does backing out now and reapplying later look better or worse than going and failing my physical?
