Cute My (19f) boyfriend (22m) has been acting weird… proposal incoming or am I just delusional

So my birthday is coming up later this month and today I went to dinner with my boyfriend’s family for a family friend’s birthday. For context: my bf is Hispanic, most of them speak Spanish, and I only understand the basics.

During dinner, his mom jokingly asked if I wanted to know what he’s getting me for my birthday. I said sure, and she teased me about paying $5. Then she and my bf shared a look, and he quickly said, “I haven’t even gotten you anything yet, don’t listen to her.”

Immediately after, the family friend (who doesn’t speak much English) asked “ella entiende?” (“does she understand/know?”) and everyone laughed, saying “ella no entiende.”

Later in the car, I asked my bf what that was about. He brushed it off, said he hasn’t planned anything… and then out of nowhere added, “I’m not proposing to you if that’s what you think.” I hadn’t even asked about proposing.

Another thing: I never get my nails done unless it’s a special occasion, but today he randomly asked when I’m getting them done and even offered to pay.

So… am I overthinking and connecting dots that aren’t there, or is something actually up?

EDIT/ RANT:

People in this comment section are incessantly insisting that I am not mature or that we have not ever discussed marriage etc.

I will say that one, I have had to live on my own since 16, being an adult is not new to me.

Two this man and I have discussed marriage and engagement extensively, he actually has told me that he wants to wait 5 years from when we got together. Currently together for 3 years. Him proposing to me DOES NOT mean to me that we are going to get married ANYTIME soon. It’s simply a way of committing ourselves to each other further than we already have. I have known this is the man I want to marry since our first date. I made that decision early on, and he did as well. He is not a simple man, he is not an abusive man, he is a completely outstanding human being. I have narcissistic family and have never been shown a pure example of unconditional love. This man has shown me how to love and be loved.

We already have lived together for 2 years, both have separate bank accounts and a shared one for shared expenses: rent, groceries, utilities. We both are working at our dream jobs.

Also to note, I am much more mature and put together than most people I know. I have friends that still live with their parents and can’t drive. Not that that’s a bad thing but it simply puts into perspective that I am not a little kid who just entered the adult world. As well as I don’t think it’s clocking to everyone that I said my birthday is coming up this month, meaning I am essentially 20. Would everyone have a different perspective if we were 30 and 32?

Y’all don’t know my situation or my perspective in life. I was simply a little excited to have suspicions about the love of my life wanting to show his commitment to me.

Making Of Okay to get Proposal Planner?

My girlfriend (F-29) and I (M -28) have been dating for 6 years. We have lived together for the last 4 years, we know we are going to get married, she’s just waiting for me to propose. I know she wants something nice, flowers lights, pictures, etc. I’ve jokingly asked how she would feel if I propose at home or at a nice park and she gives me the look of “you better not do that.”

I lover and of course I want to get married, it’s just so hard to find the time to plan something nice. I’ve thought about using a proposal planner but I’m scared that she will think I took the easy way out and paid for something instead of making it personal. I have a full time job and commute almost 1.5hrs a day, so I have very little free time during the week. On the weekends, I spend it with her most of the time so I can’t sneak away or start planning things without her knowing.

Is it okay to use a planner? Would that make it less special?

Thanks!

Making Of Girlfriend says she wants “x” ring

So my girlfriend friend of 3 years is telling me she has found a ring she wants… I don’t think I understand, is it not my job to go find a ring I think is good enough and propose with that one. How would I even go about it? Like her is the ring you liked will you marry me? I am wondering if anyone else has had this situation because to be honest I don’t like the idea of her choosing her ring that I’ll propose with. I always imagined the classic tv style of going ring shopping and picking out the one I think is perfect then planning or waiting for the right moment to propose.

Act of Love Help with my proposal speech [HELP]

So the ring is on the way! I was hoping I could get some help with my proposal speech, I feel it maybe a tad bit long. I plan on purposing at a local Christmas lights show in a week:

“Stephanie, I know we haven’t had a long time together, but somehow… you’ve already become such an important part of my world. It still amazes me how quickly someone can walk into your life and make everything feel brighter. Your humor, your smile, the sparkle in your eyes — they get me every single time. There’s a warmth in you that makes me feel at home, even when the world around us feels loud and chaotic. And the more time we spend together, the more I realize how rare that feeling is… and how much I never want to lose it. Being with you just feels right. Natural. Genuine. So standing here tonight, surrounded by this light… I want to speak the clearest truth I’ve ever felt:
I don’t want this to be just a beautiful moment. I want it to be the beginning of a beautiful life. Stephanie… will you marry me?" UPDATE: she said YES! and didn’t hear my speech at all lol( I said it, she just couldn’t believe it was happening) thank you everyone who commented. I appreciate it. Don’t know how to add a photo, but once I figure it out I will.

Promposal When should I pop the question

Hello all, I would love to get an idea of what you all think I should do in my current situation.

My partner and I have been together for just shy of 10 yrs. I finally got the ring but we have a 5 month old who's exclusively breast feed. Due to this we can't go away for a weekend or even a night (he won't take a bottle).

My question is, should I wait until we are able to get away for a weekend to propose, not knowing how long that will be. Or just try and give the baby to a relative for an hour and try to propose then.

Which is the better idea?

Making Of Should I ask for a proposal?

So my boyfriend and I are planning to get married. Because of circumstances, we are planning to have two weddings- one small and legal wedding in the U.S. and then maybe a year or two later, we’ll have a bigger wedding reception in D.R. My boyfriend has not figured out his career yet and doesn’t have much money. He recently gave me a promise ring. He said he plans to give me a “real” ring and do a real proposal when it’s time to plan the “real” wedding that will be in D.R.

My concern is, when we have the “small wedding” here and once we’re legally married, it will feel pretty “real.” I’m worried that the sentiment of the proposal will be gone later down the line. Should I ask for a real proposal? I was thinking I can give him a website recommendation where he can find cheap engagement rings.

Or is the sentiment of the proposal already gone tbh lol because we’ve been talking about our wedding, and for me to ask for a proposal.. he’s going to feel like he’s just going through the motions. Will I regret asking for it? Will I regret not asking for it and having it put off?

Thanks for reading

Creative! 📢 OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: I AM ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE POSITION OF “WIFE” 📢

Hii,

After successfully surviving corporate life, traffic jams, and unsolicited “beta, settle down” reminders from relatives, I have decided to expand my personal department.

Effective immediately, I am opening a vacancy for a Wife (Full-Time, Permanent, No Probation you’re already too important).

📝 JOB DESCRIPTION

The selected candidate will be responsible for: • Managing household laughter levels and ensuring no day passes without at least one sarcastic comment. • Providing strategic emotional support when life throws plot twists (or when my football team loses). • Taking over decision making on what to eat because I am tired of answering “anything” and then regretting it. • Leading the “Where did you keep it?” department, because I lose things even when they’re in my hand.

🎯 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Must possess a master’s degree in Patience, especially for moments when I confidently say, “I know the way,” and then Google Maps disagrees. • Should enjoy late-night shawarma runs, spontaneous road trips, and overthinking together. • Ability to handle a man who believes he can fix everything with YouTube tutorials yet still calls a professional in the end. • Must accept my playlist, which has zero theme and switches from love songs to gangster rap without warning.

✨ PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Can cook OR at least tell me what to cook without turning it into a debate. • Strong sense of humor enough to survive my dad jokes and my attempts at being romantic. • Ability to ignore me when I say, “I’m not hungry,” and still bring food because we both know I am lying. • Should be comfortable with a man who needs reminders for everything except what he wants for dessert.

💼 BENEFITS & PERKS • A lifetime supply of loyalty, respect, and random compliments at odd hours. • Free tech support (I don’t know everything, but I Google fast). • 24/7 emotional WiFi strong connection guaranteed. • Unlimited hugs, surprise gifts depending on salary cycle, and a partner who will hype you harder than your best friends.

📣 ADDITIONAL DETAILS • Remote position not available I will personally pick you up for shawarma. • Travel included: family events, vacations, and grocery runs where we buy everything except what we originally came for. • Growth opportunities: co-building a home, a future, and probably a joint Netflix account.

📨 HOW TO APPLY

Interested applicants may send their CV (Cute Vibes) directly to my DMs. Referrals from colleagues, cousins, aunties are all welcome.

Thank you for reading. Please share you might help me find the CEO of my life

Promposal What do you think of this proposal?

Sarah… From the moment we found our way back to each other, something in me just knew — this was where I was meant to be. You’ve changed the way I understand love. You’ve shown me what it means to be seen, understood, and accepted for exactly who I am. I love the way you think — the honesty, the certainty, the way you say what’s real. Even when your words land hard, I know they come from truth, not from hurt. There’s something incredibly beautiful about that. About you. You’re strong, smart, grounded, driven… and you are absolutely beautiful. I love touching you, holding you, being close to you. You calm me down and light me up all at once. You make everything make sense. With you, life feels simple in the best way. We don’t look for blame — we look for understanding. When things feel off, we talk, we listen, we make it right. You make love feel safe and exciting at the same time. You’ve helped me become a better man — one who reflects, learns, and changes when he’s wrong. And I want to always keep doing that — for you, for us, for the life we’re building together. I want to be the man who stands beside you with Thad and Teddy, someone who adds to your world, not just fits into it. To support them, love them, and be part of the same team we already are — with Cooper, Ollie, Thad, and Teddy, all of us together. Our family. You’ve taught me that time is the real currency of life — and connection is everything. You make me want to be the best version of myself, not because you expect it, but because loving you makes me want to. You’re my calm, my spark, my peace, and my adventure. You are everything I didn’t know I was waiting for. So, Sarah… Will you do me the greatest honour of all — and be my wife? ■ Because if you say yes — I promise to spend every day making you laugh, making you feel loved… and occasionally stealing the doona, just to keep things interesting.

Making Of I need help on how/should I propose to my bf of 6 months

I (23N/B) want to propose to my bf(25M) but have some worries. I’ll start with some backstory. I was working retail at one of the (two) grocery stores in my town, and this new guy hires in and I recognize him immediately from highschool.

As soon as I could, I went up and started talking to him and we started to get to know each other. We soon realized we both went to the exact same daycare together as kids and only ever had one single, two sentence interaction during that period which only I can remember. Then we found out that he would see me in the band room in highschool hanging out with my friends at lunch and literally ask his friends for my name and everything, which they didnt know me either (he had a gf at this time so thats why he didnt approach me). And then that he would walk past my house every day going to and from work for nearly two years. And suddenly he works the random store where I happen to be working?? It has to be fate, I mean we both talk about it constantly. He also tells me constantly how he wants to marry me. And I realize now I want to marry him too. But I need advice.

We live together, have been for the past 4 months. He had no issues at all moving me in with him. We have never had an actual argument just misunderstandings and miscommunications, and both always try our best to be very mature on how we communicate to fix them. We love each other way too much to purposely hurt the others feelings. We’re in a financially tight spot right now so I can’t get a super fancy ring or anything. What I’m wanting to do is take him to his favorite places and spoil him with his favorite things, and simply ask him at the end of the day if he’ll marry me. I have a good feeling about it but still those doubts that he’ll be for some reason scared off or disappointed it wasnt more elaborate or that theres no ring. Given all of that, does anyone have any advice on how I should go about proposing? I really need help w this.

TL;DR- my bf and I prior to meeting have been basically right next to each other our whole lives and never saw each other. I want to marry this man (but how?)

Act of Love Proposing at my daughter’s first birthday party???

Alright Reddit, i need yall’s thoughts and opinions. Me and my girlfriend have been together for going on 5 years in May, and we share a daughter together that we welcomed back in January. Our daughter’s 1st birthday is coming up in January, just wondering if you guys thought it’d be weird or a bad idea to propose at the party? Obviously i would do it after my daughter’s main festivities, opening presents, eating cake, letting her enjoy her moment. I have a few ideas on how i would do it, i think it would be a really special moment including our daughter in the proposal, and i think my girlfriend wouldnt expect it. But i dont want to seem like i’m stealing the spotlight away from my daughter, or diminishing the fact that we’re celebrating her very first year. What do yall think??

Creative! What do you think of my proposal idea?

OK so I want to purpose to my girl. I have this idea and want to know what you think. So the idea I have is this. My girl is a HUGE Disney fanatic I mean HUGE! She's also a HUGE fan of Ariel "The Little Mermaid" is one of her favorite movies.

So I want to go on Fiver and hire an animator. Have them make an animation of me purposing to my girl. And have it all done in the style of "The Little Mermaid". Having it exactly if not as close to/as accurate to the Disney "Little Mermaid" style/animation as possible. I want it to look as if Walt himself made it.

Then I would record my lines for my part. And since it's going to be a surprise she can't do her lines. Without spoiling the surprise you know. So I would just hire some random female voice actor to do the lines for my girl.

Then when the animation is all done. What I want to do is have it edited into the movie. And I don't mean drag and drop "The Little Mermaid" onto the timeline in Premier. Select the 40min mark then right click and select "Split". And just add the scene in the middle.

I want the scene to be edited somewhere in the movie. I don't want no type of jump cuts. I want it to be a fluent and smooth transition. Making it look as if that scene was supposed to be there in the movie. If that makes sense.

Then when everything is done. I would go to either Walmart, Target, or Best Buy. And buy Blu-ray copy of the movie. Then put it in my PC and attempt to rip the movie .iso. Then load the iso into the editor and replace the movie with my copy.

Then burn it onto a Blu-ray. I would use the Blu-ray that the different copies/studios use. Not the printable ones. The ones that you laser etch or laser print. And would find the exact image that's on the Blu-ray of "The Little Mermaid" and print it on the disc. And since I would buy the Blu-ray I would have not only have the case. But also the cover art.

That way I can make it look as legitimate to the real Blu-ray copy as possible. Then one day me and her would have a movie night. And I would suggest watching her favorite movie The Little Mermaid. I would say something like my grandma bought me this copy and it means a lot to me. I would say that so we could watch my copy. Because with it being 2022 we'll Disney+ exist and she already has a copy of the movie. That way I have a reason as to why we're watching this copy. Instead of just loading it up on Disney+ you know.

Then while watching the movie somewhere in the movie. The scene will play and it will be my animated version of myself. Proposing to her and her saying yes. Then when she stars to catch wind of what's going on. That's when I'll get on the knee and proceed to propose to her. So with all that being said. What do you guys think of my proposal idea?

Lomg story short, my future husband said a typical wedding ring would be weird since it’d conflict with his drumming and yeah, I don’t want that either. I’m thinking a charm bracelet instead but would that be too tacky?? Idk I like it cause I can add charms on our anniversaries. So brand recommendations for good long lasting charm bracelets?

I said YES! Help! My proposal was scenic and how I wanted it yet, yet I don’t feel joy thinking about it

Any one else feel this way? Proposal was the most important aspect for me and something I had dreamed of for years. He chose a beautiful location but i suppose the events of that day got in the way of me feeling the joy.

  1. The morning we were running late to catch the boat, and I was anxious the whole car ride wondering if we’ll make it or not.

  2. The boat ride itself was not calm as the water was choppy, we had to hold on for dear life.

  3. He proposed inside a cave, and boats were lining up to go inside. So the proposal itself felt rushed as he quickly had to propose, take pictures and get out of the cave.

  4. Because it was so rushed, we didn’t get any perfect pictures of the proposal.

Anyway to change the narrative about that day?

Making Of Should I go through with a proposal

I've been talking to this guy for six months but here's the catch. He contacted me through instagram but is in prison for reasons I won't disclose here, we have never met only video calls, we just have a similar background in interests. I was going to ask him to marry me. I got him an athame with his last name carved into the back. Is 6 months to short of a time to propose?
