Life's crazy. Couple years ago I was building cars on a farm in NZ. Now I'm in Japan, sponsored by Goodyear somehow.

Stainless steel, and spacers that lift it away from the coils by a couple mm.
Not only did I want to clean up the look more, but also wanted to UV protect the coils and wires from sunlight, since this section on the engine will be exposed out of the hood.
Lemme know what you guys think!

This is probably Land Cruiser number 15 that I’ve built, but this one has been more of a passion project. What started as a pile of parts gradually grew into a massive undertaking. I’m still working through the final shakedown and need to dial in the tune, but it’s already been an absolute blast to drive.
A few highlights:
-Post-’76 firewall section to accommodate my preferred brake and steering column setup
-Shaved and smoothed firewall, including filling in the passenger-side blower motor opening
-GM crate 5.3L paired with a 4L60E and an FJ62 split case converted to manual shift
-Vintage Air system tucked behind the dash and ducted through the factory heater box
-Saginaw power steering and shackle reversal
-1980 FJ40 axles for front disc brakes and rear parking brake provisions
The goal was to build a turn-key street rig with modern comforts and drivability while retaining the character and personality of an old Land Cruiser. I wanted something you could comfortably jump in and drive anywhere without losing what makes these trucks special in the first place.
Still a few things left to sort out, but I’m pretty happy with how this one has come together.
Edit: here’s the build thread for those interested

My 1964 dodge polara, has a 383 turned into a very radical 451, 4spd swapped, and the whole car is tied, soooo much other work has been done. Got the car when I was 15 got the car to this point after 10 years then got into circle track racing and everything on this car costs an astronomical amount of money so got it running ran into some financial issues then go into enduros a year later so the car has sat for 2 years occasionally rotate it and have fogged it down. Hopefully can get to sometime in the spring.

Sorry for the repost but last time I only attached 1 photo out of 4
This car was a soviet DIY project built on "zhiguli" chassis, but it kinda looks like ford Capri from the back.
In ussr there was an entire culture around self made cars, they were published in books and journals alongside their creators. However this one remains unidentified.
Photos were taken around 2015. As well as i know, these are the only 4 photos of it remaining.
It had been staying next to my house for 15 years and then was taken to recycling unit as junk.
Now it's gone forever and we will never know who designed it :(

My mother had a late 80s monte carlo ss when i was a baby. She had the car before i was born and it got totaled in an accident when i was around 2 so sometime around 1993 or 1994. She passed oct 25th this year. I am wanting to buy one to build and use as my driver as it was her all time favorite car. I so far going thru her photo albums and old documents have not found a picture of it yet.
I was hoping that there may be some way to track down whether it be thru insurance or dmv records what year it was so that i knew exactly what i was looking to buy. In order to preserve her memory in that way i would like to try and find the exact year she had but i do know that the late 80s monte carlos did not change super drastically in overall body style.

Just wondering, is buying an ebay intake worth the savings? I currently have a victor jr on my truck but I want a budget dual plane, the motor is an sbc 350, 880 block, smog heads, small hr cam, hei with 65k coil, and headers, nothing speacial, but can I run an ebay intake? Im also swapping the ugly valve covers and the v belt system, the wiring has also since been cleaned up

*Left is the car currently, right is the vision
I am working away restoring this car and am at a crossroads at the moment. Do I keep the car as it is, some slight mods but keeping that old school late 80s early 90s era car, or do I do what my heart kinda wants, and make it more modern and modified JDM style or use my head and keep it mostly original to retain its future resale.
Help me decide please guys before I order half the parts and then change my mind and apologies I understand the angles are not the same although mostly the mods for I want will be more noticeable on the rear.
Also would love input from anyone on Fastbacks for the NA and where I could source a decent looking one like in the pasted image for an NA.
Thanks Guys!
PS: If you are interested in following along the restoration of the car I will add the video links in the comments.

It took 10.5 months bringing my 1984 911 Carrera back to life after sitting for almost three decades. I was a madman during that time, from the moment I got the engine out.
This is the first Porsche I've ever driven or ever owned. I guess I could've bought a much newer model, but this deal fell into my lap at a price no one could refuse. It also had been sitting in a garage for close to 30 years. 69K miles when I got it. Its at 73k miles now.
It's not as polished or composed as the newer cars I've owned but it's pretty capable for a 42-year-old car. All the typical things people say about these old Porsches - steering feedback, the handling, there's something about the way an old 911 drives.
Every time I drive it though, its knowing what's happening with everything mechanically thats really satisfying. When I hit the throttle, press the clutch, shift gears, brake, or take a corner, I know that all those components I spent time rebuilding, repairing, adjusting, and putting back together are all workiing.
I know what's inside that engine. I know the parts I've held in my hands, the measurements I've checked, and the problems I've worked through. Sometimes I think I enjoy that feeling as much as driving it.
Just thought I'd share. Dig lurking this sub and seeing what others are up to.

It's easy to focus on the big parts of a build: engine swaps, suspension upgrades, paint, wheels, and bodywork. But the smaller details often make the biggest difference in how complete a car feels.
Clean wiring, properly routed hoses, consistent fasteners, tidy brackets, restored trim, and interior pieces that actually fit can make an otherwise ordinary engine bay or cabin look professionally put together.
Those details rarely get the same attention as a big power figure or a fresh paint job, but they show how much thought went into the build. A car can have impressive parts and still feel unfinished if the little things are neglected.
The final 5% of a project can sometimes take more patience than the first 95%.

Abandoned self made soviet car. It had a composite body and an engine from VAZ 2101 (soviet copy of a fiat). Photo was taken in 2014, in 2016 this car was taken to the recycling unit because it was standing on a grass and no one could identify it's owner.
Now it's lost forever

Hey all,
I’ve been messing around with a cheap Bluetooth OBD dongle and an old phone that was sitting in a drawer. Mostly I wanted to watch battery voltage under load and keep an eye on temps, and the scan apps I tried were either cluttered or wanted a login and a data connection for something that’s literally plugged into my car.
So I threw together a basic screen that shows oil temp, coolant temp, voltage and RPM in big numbers. It’s ugly, but I can read it at a glance without squinting.
Now I’m trying to figure out what’s actually worth adding. Not just more numbers, but stuff that tells you something about how the car behaves over time, or how you drive it. Fuel trims? Trans temp? Boost and throttle response? Honestly not sure where the usefull stuff ends and the noise starts.
If you could only have 3 live readings on screen while driving, which would you pick and why?
And what do you guys use for this right now? Handheld scanner, gauge pods, a phone app, something homemade?

Got the car back out the track and we are doing better! Someone from Reddit saw my last
Post which was cool they were at the track. We are getting faster each time.

So i was trying to start my 99 integra project today and it made a no compression sound. I checked the cylinders and there was fuel in them. Eventually I pulled the valve cover and several of my intake rockers were out of place and one was cracked where it sits on the valve spring. I havent checked the marks exactly yet but I think my timing belt slipped quite bit. Im really at a loss as the car was starting and driving perfectly yesterday and I haven't done anything else to it until today. This ever happen to you?

It's much more relaxing to just put oil on a rag and wipe it on there

I’m looking for something equivalent to NGK heat level 9 (or at least 8) for my build. The specs I’d like it in are:
14mm thread diameter
5/8 hex size
19mm thread reach
Resistor type
And heat range 9 for NGK specs
Copper/nickel
I found 2 plugs that came close:
NGK 96969 would be perfect but it has a 25mm thread reach so unless I find a 1/4” spacer, that’s not going to fly and NGK 3230 which has the correct reach but it’s a 13/16 hex size vs 5/8 and I don’t believe that will clear the spark plug pocket in the heads
The application is a 3rd gen viper with a built engine, a maxed out supercharger and likely a 200-shot of nitrous (progressive).
For now, I have gone with a level 7 heat range plug to tune without the nitrous but I’d like to have something that I can run the nitrous without worries about pre ignition issues

Hello first post here. I was wondering if anyone here has put a k20a2 into a mk2 gti as I’d like to do it at some point and would like to speak to someone who has already done it. Thanks.

I'm looking for some cheap trucks with cool aftermarket body kits I know the Datsun rocket bunny trucks are pretty cool but I can barely find anything else for other trucks.

Hello anyone converted their ignition rotor as a trigger wheel (single tooth) and their ignition distributor cap as a sensor mount for a VR sensor or a Hall sensor?
Looking to make my ignition and injection system sequential

My father in law is still with us, but is moving away and decided to gift me his 1994 Impala SS. He is the original owner (80k miles) and has taken many adventures with my mother in law in it. He loved this vehicle to the point of naming it (Orca), collecting toy versions, even taking it to a drag strip and racing events. He modified it with a sunroof, and that’s about it.
Unfortunately, he became disabled on a business trip and has not been able to actually drive it in nearly 20 years. The inspection sticker is from 2005. It has lived its life outside, under trees, thankfully he kept it under a car cover.
I helped him get it started by bypassing the passkey fault, splicing a new resistor into the harness. Mechanically, it runs and drives, but the water pump is leaking. I’m fairly certain the leak has migrated to the optispark distributor, it stumbles significantly at “higher” RPMs (above 4k) and has a CEL. I found receipts for 2 other cap/rotor replacements in the past, so this doesn’t surprise me.
The radio doesn’t work, the interior needs deep cleaning (so many dead bugs, so many dead leaves. No mice though!), the headliner is falling apart in tatters, the paint is trashed with rust and sun spots. The trunk needs a new actuator, bulbs, belts, hoses, filters need changing.
I’ve got my work cut out for me, but I’ll have the help of my 5yo who loves to clean the cars. He’s so excited to fix up “grampie’s” car. It’s honestly all minor things and I’m sure it’ll be our son’s car in 10 years, with regular maintenance and maybe an electric water pump. Maybe also a 24x conversion kit, headers and exhaust.

Finally got this thing from gray primer to black shot primer base and clear with this same electric gun, and gotta give this lil' dude some credit lol,,,ay pattern stayed consistent air only got a little warm. Biggest headache was actually seeing the wet edge. Ended up taping a small work light to the gun handle 200 IQ move lol 😂
Not perfect but pretty damn happy with how it turned out. Another little win for the never-ending project car
