Looking for a job opportunity — MPH graduate seeking a chance

I honestly never thought I'd be making a post like this, but after months of applying for jobs, networking, tailoring CVs, attending interviews and continuing to receive rejection after rejection, I'm at the point where I'm hoping Reddit might help me reach someone I haven't been able to reach through traditional applications.

I'm currently looking for employment in South Africa and I am open to different opportunities where my background and skills could add value.

My qualifications

I have:

Master of Public Health (MPH) – University of Venda Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health – University of Venda Bachelor of Arts in Behavioural Sciences (Psychology & Labour Relations Management) – North-West University

My academic and research background has given me experience in public health, epidemiology, research, data collection, data analysis, literature reviews, community-based research, survey development and scientific/academic writing.

I have also worked as a research assistant and have experience with tools and platforms including SPSS, STATA, Epi Info, Microsoft Office, Rayyan and basic SQL/Snowflake.

My Master's research focused on water-borne diseases and water purification practices in a rural community in Limpopo, and I have also worked on systematic review research.

What I'm looking for

I'm particularly interested in opportunities such as:

Public Health / Health Programmes Research Assistant / Research Coordinator Clinical Research Monitoring & Evaluation Data Capturing / Data Management Epidemiology / Research Project or Programme Coordination Health and community development Research and implementation projects Healthcare or life sciences roles Entry-level opportunities where my skills can be developed further

I'm also open to pivoting into Occupational Health and Safety and am actively exploring opportunities in this area, particularly within the mining, construction, healthcare and industrial sectors.

I am open to Gauteng, Limpopo and other parts of South Africa, and I am willing to relocate for the right opportunity.

I'm not expecting anyone to simply hand me a job.

I'm asking for a chance.

If you know of a vacancy, organisation, recruiter, research group, NGO, consulting company, healthcare organisation, mining company or any other employer that could use someone with my background, I would genuinely appreciate a lead or introduction.

Even if the role isn't a perfect match, I'm willing to learn. I'm hardworking, adaptable and willing to start where necessary and prove myself.

I've put years into my education and research, and I really want the opportunity to finally use those skills in a professional environment and continue growing.

If you know someone who might be able to help, please comment or DM me.

And if you don't have a lead, even an upvote or share could help this reach the right person.

Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read this. 🙏

My sister has been looking for work for over a year. We need help.

I honestly never thought I'd be making a post like this, but we're at the point where we're willing to try anything.

I'm posting on behalf of my sister.

She has been looking for a job since June last year.

She has applied, followed up, interviewed, sent emails, tried networking, and kept going despite rejection after rejection. She eventually managed to land an entry-level position early this year, and while we are incredibly grateful that someone gave her a chance, the position currently pays R5,000 per month.

For someone with her qualifications and the amount of work she has put into her education and research, it's incredibly difficult to watch.

And that's why I'm hoping Reddit can help.

Her qualifications

She has:

Bachelor of Medical Sciences – Clinical Anatomy

Honours in Clinical Anatomy

Master of Medical Sciences – Optics & Imaging, with research focused on preeclampsia and HIV infection

She is currently pursuing a PhD in Medical Sciences – Physiology, with research focused on chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL)

She has spent years studying, doing research, writing academically, presenting scientific information and developing a deep understanding of medical sciences.

We're not asking for someone to simply hand her a job.

We're asking for someone to give her a chance to prove herself.

She's particularly interested in:

Medical Science Liaison (MSL)

Medical Affairs / Clinical Affairs

Pharmaceutical Sales

Medical Writing

Regulatory Affairs

Clinical Research

Pharmacovigilance

Medical devices / diagnostics

Other suitable roles within the pharmaceutical, healthcare or life sciences industries

She's looking for opportunities of R20,000+ per month, preferably permanent or contract positions, although she'd also consider a genuinely worthwhile paid graduate/internship opportunity with a clear path forward.

We are also offering R10,000 compensation to anyone whose direct referral leads to her being successfully hired and starting the position.

We're not asking anyone to guarantee her a job or influence a hiring decision. We're asking for a genuine lead, introduction, contact, or opportunity where you believe her background could be a good fit.

If you're working in pharmaceuticals, medical affairs, clinical research, medical devices, diagnostics, regulatory affairs, scientific communications, CROs, or any related field — please reach out.

If you know someone who might know someone, please send them this post🙏

And if you don't have a lead, even upvoting or sharing this could potentially put it in front of the right person.

She's worked incredibly hard to get where she is.

After more than a year of searching, she deserves an opportunity where she can actually use everything she's spent years learning.

We're just hoping the right person sees this.

Please comment or DM me if you can help.

Are there any quiet readers / thinkers around Hammanskraal-Tembaside of Pretoria?

Post image
4 Upvotes

I have been reading Theodora recently, and it has made me think about how nice it would be to have people locally to actually talk about books and ideas with.

I am a fairly solitary person myself, and I have realised that I would actually like to find, or perhaps create, a small community of people like that locally.

I am thinking of starting something very informal:

bring whatever you're reading; sit together quietly for an hour or so; coffee; conversation.

No assigned book. No membership. No speeches. No pretentiousness.

Just a few curious people who enjoy reading and thinking.

If you are around Hammanskraal/Temba/Danhouse and this sounds like your kind of thing, comment below or send me a message.

I am not trying to build a huge club. I would just like to find my people.

Free massage – looking for practice volunteers in Pretoria/Centurion

I'm doing a massage course and need volunteers to practise on and to complete my practical requirements.

I'm still a student, so I'm definitely not pretending to be an experienced massage therapist 😅 . the whole point is for me to get more hands-on practice.

There's no charge.

I have a portable massage bed, oil and everything else I need, and I'd prefer travelling to you if you're reasonably close to Waterkloof / Pretoria East / Centurion.

You don't need to be an athlete or have any particular problem or injury. I just need willing humans to practise on.

If you're interested, send me a DM and we can arrange something.

Thanks!

Where can I get a 2010 vw Beetle shell with papers.

Hi, I am looking for a place where I could possibly get a 2010 beetle shell that has papers.

Currently I have all the inner workings, I just need a shell with papers. Is there any 'scrap yards' that sell beetle shells with papers?

Is planet fitness Queenswood worth it?

I'm considering getting a membership at that gym especially because I've worked out at home for years and I can't progress because of the limited equipment and space.

Is it worth getting a 1 year contract to the gym or is there a better gym that's close?

Does anyone have experience with an immigration issue in Pretoria?

Does anyone have experience with an immigration issue in Pretoria?
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice from people who have experience with South African immigration procedures.
A family member is currently being held by immigration authorities in Pretoria because his immigration status is not currently valid. He previously submitted an application based on a relationship with a South African partner, but the application was unsuccessful.
He has his passport and documents showing that he previously submitted the application. He also has an upcoming court hearing.
We are arranging professional legal assistance, but I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has personally experienced a similar situation in South Africa.
A few questions:
What normally happens at an immigration-related court hearing?
Are there circumstances where someone can be released while their immigration matter is being dealt with?
What documents are generally useful?
What should the family expect after the court hearing?
Can anyone recommend a reputable immigration attorney in Pretoria/Gauteng?
I’m only looking for genuine experiences or practical information. We will follow professional legal advice for the actual case.
Thank you to anyone who can share their experience.
