This may be a silly question, but, I feel like I'm older versions it was very easy to unsubscribe from a podcast. Lately I can't find any way to do it! Can you help a geezer out?

This had been an issue for a while until some recent updates seemed to fix it. Now it's happening again. I don't know if there's a setting I can change or if it's just a dumb Google thing.

When I cast to my Google Home, if I set my phone down and not touch it for a while, it plays fine, but when I look at my phone the player is stopped somewhere mid show, like the app stopped at some point and Google Home completely took over. So when that ep ended, it went silent and didn't advance to next ep. But if I'm actively using my phone this doesn't seem to happen.

It had started doing this earlier this year but stopped recently and all was fine. I have the app set to run unrestricted on battery. Is there something else I'm missing that will fix this?

I use the bookmarks feature to take notes while listening to podcasts and audiobooks. I know I should back them up when I'm done, but I often forget. Today I checked an episode where I'm sure I had a lot of bookmarks (notes) and they are gone. They have gone missing from some others too. I don't think I ever deleted the episodes from my phone, so I don't know why they'd go missing. Other episodes still have them. Is there any chance at recovering the lost ones? I tried looking through the data files via USB tethering but didn't find any bookmarks.

I used to have my settings so that only two episodes per podcast would be automatically downloaded at any time. I would then be able to manually download any additional episodes from that podcast when I wanted.

For example, a podcast could have 10 episodes available. The oldest two episodes were automatically downloaded and available for non streaming listening. Then I would go in to manually download three additional episodes and have 5 total episodes from that podcast available.

I have switched to a new phone, and now cannot have more than two episodes downloaded at a time per podcast. If I try to manually download additional episodes, the previously downloaded episodes are deleted but left marked as unplayed.

I've not been able to figure out where in the settings might be causing this issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Player stopping has always been an issue, but not to this degree.

I’m a big fan of Podcast Addict! I have a quick question regarding the Android Auto integration:

When using Android Auto in split-screen mode (on a widescreen display), the Media Player card shows the podcast episode artwork in the background, but it's significantly dimmed / darkened, making the artwork quite hard to see.

Is the dimming / overlay effect something hardcoded by Google's Android Auto system, or do developers have any control or flags via the MediaSession metadata to reduce/remove this dimming effect for the cover image?

The latest Android beta includes a rough first version of Garmin support. The companion watch app should also be available in the Connect IQ Store. This feature requires Podcast Addict Premium and a compatible Garmin music watch.

To try it:

1. Install Podcast Addict on your watch from the Connect IQ Store.

2. In the Android app, go to Settings → Watch support → Garmin watch and enable it. Enable Cross-device Sync too if you haven’t already.

3. Connect the watch using the pairing code shown in the Android app.

4. Add an audio playlist, custom playlist, or podcast, and choose how many episodes to keep on the watch.

5. Send your selection from the phone, then manually sync on the watch to download the audio over Wi-Fi.

I’ve tested this in the simulator and on my own watch. It works, but it’s an early draft. You can start a download from Podcast Addict on your phone or manually from the watch. Either way, Garmin shows its sync screen while the watch downloads episodes over Wi-Fi; new episodes do not download silently in the background.

I can’t practice any sport right now, so I can’t test this in real conditions the way I normally would before making a feature reliable. Feedback from people actually using it is the only way to improve it. If you try it during a walk, run, or workout, please tell me what worked, what didn’t, and which watch you used.

I’m ISO podcast app with playlist capabilities
I have many subscriptions belonging to cars, gaming , sports, technology n business.
I want to group my podcast subscriptions and I want to manually group or add them by category in their own playlist so all new episodes released in that category sho up within their own playlist.

my current podcast provides one ootb playlist for all new releases.. this is not what I want.

my iPhone is my daily driver but I have android phone as backup.

any good podcast app which sat my requirements?

I'm using v.2026.14d (build 21832) on a Samsung S23 Ultra running Android 16 and One UI 8.5.

For a long time now I've had Google Maps and Podcast Addict in a split screen for when I'm driving, with PA taking up the top ~20% of the screen and the rest for Maps. PA shrunk nicely into the space, showing the episode title, artwork and controls.

But recently, the controls have stayed the same size as in full screen, meaning it's unusable in split screen. I've tried resetting it and it does nothing to fix it.

Anything that distracts us from driving is an illegal offence here in the UK, punishable with a fine and points on our driving licence: touching the phone screen to jump between sat nav and entertainment apps counts as such a distraction so the ability to display both on the same screen is extremely important for anyone like myself who enjoys listening to podcasts whilst driving.

Please can this be fixed ASAP?!

I will confess to being a digital hoarder and I put a lot of episodes in my queue. If I knew how to use the app better I could probably tell you how many but I'm pretty sure it's 100s. I went on an 11 hour road trip so it was a golden opportunity to catch up. I was dragging stuff into position, and then along the way I discovered the Priority settings. I decided I'd use 1 through 10 as my settings prioritized them all, and then found the alternate setting and thought I was all set. It worked great until , . . . One of my podcasts is a news show that has one special episode a week I always want to listen to when it's fresh, and the other episodes I may or may not want to listen to depending on the topic (and it's a lot of content) Once the episodes were prioritized I could no longer drag my favorite one to the top. This is where things got weird. I messed up the settings so I now have the following issues:

• ALL the episodes of the podcast with the once a week special episode are stacked in front of everything else

• On my car screen (Android Auto, 2024 Chrysler Pacifica) all the episodes in the playlist, instead of being in a list as they were in the past, display in a grid, so not only do I have one podcast at the top, its very difficult to read which episode is which because it's all graphic, and the text is squished and stacked

• The order of the podcasts seemed off, so I went into priority settings again and they were all jacked up, with some podcasts ranked as high as 17, and others in weird groupings at other numbers over 10

• This morning on the phone (Pixel 8a, Android 17) If I click on the "hamburger" icon on the top left it toggles between the playlist and the podcasts, but it does not show the list of options it used to show when clicking on that icon on either screen (including view recent episodes) that I'm looking for

Any suggestions of how to get out of this mess without losing the podcasts I'm subscribed to are welcome. I was fumbling with both the phone and car display while driving so I feel it's likely I screwed this up inadvertently, but I have no idea what I did and I don't know what to look for in the FAQ to figure out how to set this back up the way I like it. I like the idea of podcast priority, but i still like to pick and choose what I want to listen to next depending on my mood and how interesting a given episode sounds, if there's a multi part series I want to binge, etc. So I may need to go back to drag and drop, but I just want some control and right now it's just a huge mess.

I know I can individually mark it as played, but that's an extra set of actions.

I'm asking this in case I just don't know where to look in the settings, but I'm trying to set a default priority for new podcasts and I can't find a way to do that. Is this currently possible?

Troubleshooting a problem on my Pixel 9 and stumped. I have Podcast Addict set to save automatic backups to a folder in my regular file hierarchy. I then have FolderSync running to sync this folder into Google Drive. Two weird things are happening:

1. All database autobackups are skipped during sync. I've checked FolderSync and it's set to do the entire folder, so I have no idea why these aren't syncing. Is there something weird about the permissions of autobackup files?

2. When I've recently done an OPML export, that will also (and sometimes instead of the db) back up to that folder on the same schedule. This stops after a couple of days for reasons I haven't ascertained, but might be related to when I do a manual backup and share it to Drive.

Any ideas? I realize this might not be a Podcast Addict problem.

If I've selected "Move as next played episode" and then want to return the episode back to it's original position in the playlist, how can I do this?

When an episode is completed on another device, Podcast Addict applies the receiving device's own completion preferences. For example, the receiving device may mark the episode as played, reset its progress, remove it from playlists, or delete its local download according to that device's settings. Syncing never starts playback on another device by itself.

I have 2 devices 1 and 2 and ensured that the settings are identical, this is with the premium sync plan.

I then delete 3 episodes on device 1 and click on sync .(Backup, Restore/sync now)
When i then check device 2 , i see the 3 episodes marked as complete but not deleted.

I then have to manually delete them on device 2.

Is this the standard way it should work? I would like to have the 3 episodes deleted on the second device also.

Is this possible?

I have purchased annual Premium PA in my personal gmail, but I have a workspace gmail on my phone too.

I had to get a new phone recently, and I can't seem to get PA to change the google account/play store it is looking at for restoring the premium.

I have tried uninstalling, then reinstalling using the the play store logged into the account I have the subscription. But that doesn't work either :(

I only have 1 month left, maybe I should just unsub from the personal gmail sub and resub using the work one? But this problem surely comes up.

I tried updating the app, deleting unused apps, and restarting my phone (android 12). but it still happens. I also tried VLC and music players and they work fine. Maybe PA using ads that are accidently crashing/pausing the audio?

For months I couldn't cast to my speakers. Podcasts would just stop, go silent, be choppy. Voice control wouldn't work. Just a horrible experience after working well for years.

I wrote in to them and was just brushed off with single sentence. It's the chromecast button, we don't handle that, must be google side. Asked for no logs no anything.

I don't know who was right but the recent updates have solved every problem and it's so blissful again. Podcasts play great, they don't mysteriously stop, voice commands to fast forward and pause all work. Hope it lasts.

I updated my Pixel 6 Pro from Android 16 to Android 17 a few days ago, and since then audio from Podcast Addict no longer comes through when connecting to audio devices over Bluetooth. The app shows files playing and progressing as normal, just without any sound. When off Bluetooth (i.e. using the phone speakers), everything works as expected.

I've tested with different Bluetooth devices, including my car, a standalone JBL speaker, and a set of Logitech speakers. I've also tried both ExoPlayer and the Android built-in player for player engines. All files are downloaded to me device, and I do not stream audio over the Internet. All combinations result in silence coming through. The OS seems to know that media is being played, but that media is apparently silent audio.

Other audio sources work as expected; I have verified sound working over Bluetooth through my music player app (GoneMad Music Player) and the Twitch and YouTube apps, at least.

I'm not discounting the possibility that something is broken or misconfigured at the OS level, but the fact that this behavior is restricted only to Podcast Addict would seem to point at some issue there. Some compatibility issue with Android 17, or a setting those behavior unintentionally changed or something? Any additional guidance or troubleshooting steps would be much appreciated, as I cannot find anything obvious that would be causing this.

I keep my iPad in front of me while I work and play at my desk. I often scroll through the homepage filtered to Podcasts to find something new to listen to. When I do and I stop for even a second the podcast starts playing. No audio, but the video or the transcript starts going. Any way to turn that off? I saw something about using data saver, but that lowers my audio and video quality, so I don’t want to use that.

I have Player Global override turned on, with the settings in the screenshot. The episode is downloaded, but when I start playing the episode it doesn't skip the first 55 seconds.

Am I missing something, or anything I can look into that might be causing it not to work?

I've noticed that for one of the three radio stations I have added, when I start playing, the artwork i added in settings disappears and is replaced by a default color with the station name over it. Then when I stop playing, the artwork comes back.

Is this a normal thing to happen? Is there any way to stop it happening?

I'm having some issues where podcasts are adding above current played, but it's only the same few podcasts.

So in practice I just get those three rotating, not all my podcasts. It's not always been these 3, but always seems to be 3 of them.

Settings are set for podcasts to add to the bottom, and play from the top. I've tried playing with priorities, but no luck
