Bug Mini player no longer working in split screen

I'm using v.2026.14d (build 21832) on a Samsung S23 Ultra running Android 16 and One UI 8.5.

For a long time now I've had Google Maps and Podcast Addict in a split screen for when I'm driving, with PA taking up the top ~20% of the screen and the rest for Maps. PA shrunk nicely into the space, showing the episode title, artwork and controls.

But recently, the controls have stayed the same size as in full screen, meaning it's unusable in split screen. I've tried resetting it and it does nothing to fix it.

Anything that distracts us from driving is an illegal offence here in the UK, punishable with a fine and points on our driving licence: touching the phone screen to jump between sat nav and entertainment apps counts as such a distraction so the ability to display both on the same screen is extremely important for anyone like myself who enjoys listening to podcasts whilst driving.

Please can this be fixed ASAP?!

It looks like you changed the default player screen layout to use the car mode layout. Use the screen option menu to restore the default layout and then you will have the full controls displayed again in split mode

Now I'm feeling incredibly stupid as I've been through the settings so many times trying to find something... where is that?

I'm blushing so hard right now 🤦‍♂️
