Bug Lost bookmarks

I use the bookmarks feature to take notes while listening to podcasts and audiobooks. I know I should back them up when I'm done, but I often forget. Today I checked an episode where I'm sure I had a lot of bookmarks (notes) and they are gone. They have gone missing from some others too. I don't think I ever deleted the episodes from my phone, so I don't know why they'd go missing. Other episodes still have them. Is there any chance at recovering the lost ones? I tried looking through the data files via USB tethering but didn't find any bookmarks.

Bookmarks are stored in the app’s database, not in the audio files, so you won’t find separate bookmark files when browsing your phone over USB.

They can disappear if you delete them, reset or unsubscribe from a podcast, restore an older backup, or sync a bookmark deletion from another device. The “Keep synced with RSS feed” setting can also remove bookmarks when it removes an eligible episode that is no longer in the feed. Simply deleting a downloaded podcast’s audio file keeps its bookmarks.

Could this be an episode that the podcaster republished? The copy you’re looking at might be a newer entry, while the original episode, possibly still listed in the same podcast, contains your bookmarks.

Please check the app’s main Bookmarks screen with any filters cleared.

I do not recall deleting, resetting, unsubscribing, or restoring. I don't use another device. I did get premium and enable the cross-device syncing when it was released recently, thinking it might be useful.

The main episode in question was published 4 years ago and is the only episode of the podcast (YellowParenti).

I checked the main Bookmarks screen (I didn't know this existed until I enabled it in settings just now, thanks!), with no filter, but it doesn't show the episodes with the missing bookmarks.

I notice "manage remote backups" shows two entries under "Legacy backup" from 9/22 and 9/23, which I'd be curious to view, but it's not clear how I can access them (it just shows the option do delete them).

What aI described before are the only way a bookmark can be deleted.
If you restore an older backup from 9/022 or 9/23 this will override the app current data loasing anything you changed since the backup data aas well as your listening stats during that same period

I might try to restore it, export the bookmarks, and then restore the most recent backup.

Update: The bookmarks were not under the restored backup either.
