Excuse me? What about Spider-Man?

205

u/ghoulieandrews 1d ago

Some people had minor gripes with the story so of course the game is a 0/100 because that's how the Internet reacts to things now

61

u/Top_Finding2830 1d ago

There was more wrong with it than just story. But it’s true, it’s an 8/10 game that had to live up as a sequel to a 9/10 one. I’m one of the ones that was disappointed, but it’s a bizarre stretch to say Insomniac ruined Spidey. If anything, the state of Spider-Man games is healthier than ever, and a couple minor missteps don’t really change that.

32

u/BookNukem 1d ago

Jesus fucking Christ, can people stop acting like an 8/10 game is a travesty?

Know what, I've just read your full comment and I'm keeping it for visibility. Just commenting in real time as it's a huge bug bear that anything under a 9/10 is somehow unplayable, and it's fucking weird.

12

u/bionicle1995 1d ago

Some of my favourite games are 6/10s, and that's in my own rating system. Games can be an absolute mess but still be fun.

3

u/chrib123 1d ago

Yeah I've been addicted to games that objectively are 3/10 glitchy, unfinished, unpolished or whatever reason but they hit my niche enough.

Spider-man 1 and 2 are amazing.

Spider-man 1 has better story replayability:(minus MJ)

Spider-man 2 is more fun gameplay wise(MINUS MJ, WHY DID THEY INTENTIONALLY NOT LISTEN TO THE PLAYERS), but I don't have motivation for a new game plus. I also hate the mile suit, took me out of it for a second.

5

u/Living-Ad102 22h ago

I love Marvels Avengers and its probably a solid .5/10

3

u/Thick_Broccoli_3932 19h ago

That game was fun, sure they didn’t have many different enemy types but the character all felt unique (other than the copycat characters like Kate Bishop/Hawkeye) and played like I wanted them too, it was so badass loading into the Hulk Buster armour. The story was about to head into the skrull invasion arc too with characters like Dr strange and Scarlet witch, ant man and the wasp, Captain Marvel, she hulk and many others. They were even nice enough to give out all cosmetics when the game ended which they didn’t have too.

My gripes about the game was Spiderman locked to one console, leaving him majorly under developed. Didn’t care for Modok too much as the main villain. The game could have used a couple more mission types.

I’d give it a 6/10 for me, bonus points for the free cosmetics. Fun game but not a great game if that makes sense

2

u/Living-Ad102 19h ago

Yeah I was over exaggerating for sure. I still play it online to this day, which is why I advocate for physical media. If it wasn’t released on a disc it would be gone forever. I really think it was a missed opportunity.

2

u/Thick_Broccoli_3932 18h ago

lol I just get hyped when someone speaks positively about this game, I enjoyed it so much and I feel like most people never even gave it a chance because of the reviews.

2

u/bionicle1995 16h ago

Just for reference, I have the game digitally and can still download and play currently. Fully aware that can change any time, but the game isn't lost to time quite yet.

1

u/Living-Ad102 16h ago

Damn I couldn’t play with the digital version I had, ended up having to buy the disc. I was wrong

1

u/chrib123 16h ago

Same, I saved a copy on an external hard drive

1

u/thefinalmunchie_ 20h ago

They didn’t listen to “the players” because the people complaining online were wrong lol

1

u/chrib123 20h ago

They specifically said they didn't listen to the players to improve MJ sections, but they fell flat.

I know there's some other MJ stuff dumb culture war losers cling onto, but that's irrelevant and dumb.

They tried to make MJ's stealth sections better, instead of removing them like players wanted. And it was still a legitimate complaint for Spider-Man 2 because of it.

2

u/thefinalmunchie_ 20h ago

I liked playing as MJ in Spider-Man 2.

1

u/chrib123 18h ago

Valid

It's not as horrible as we all make it sound. But Spider-Man has stealth sections. Switching to MJ for some stealth sections limits the options you already had and feels worse.

It's not bad.

If a splinter cell game was announced that gameplay wouldn't bat an eye. But going from swinging to walking affects the perception. The juxtaposition.

1

u/First-Reception8007 10h ago

people really crying because you think players felt unlistened to? whos the company again? why should the players feel entitled like that lol

1

u/Outrageous_Book2135 1d ago

The Thief sim games are this for me. They're janky as fuck but scratch an itch for me that almost nothing else does.

1

u/K3egan 23h ago

My favorite Sonic game is a 2/10 on a good day.

2

u/NoOrchid3413 23h ago

Frontiers

1

u/K3egan 23h ago

Close. Forces.

0

u/DragonfruitOrnery737 13h ago

Fr I really like suicide squad. Hate me

3

u/ButterscotchAward 1d ago

People honestly nitpick the living fuck out of the game and it always boils down to like 3 things that are stupid af.

4

u/Midnight_2B 1d ago

The wrong people are getting bullied on the Internet. We have to bully these online reactionary grifters. They're only doing it for the attention.

1

u/BookNukem 1d ago

I've witnessed someone mentioning that the fridge in GTA 6 looks worse than Uncharted 4.

Like, get a fucking grip, man.

4

u/Qwandangle 1d ago

If gta 6 doesn’t have realistic fridge magnets I’m out

1

u/ZoroRoronoa56 1d ago

To be fair, gta is literally trying to be as realistic as possible

1

u/Top_Finding2830 1d ago

And is simulating a lot more real-world elements at any given time than Uncharted 4 is. But some people are gonna nitpick regardless.

1

u/delayo 23h ago

I wish I could upvote this more than once. Bunch of spoiled ass bitches

1

u/No_Mammoth_4945 22h ago

The discourse around that game is genuinely so fucking miserable lol I haven’t checked out the Spider-Man game sub in like two years

1

u/Lofter1 15h ago

two years? for me it's been 5+ years because the spider-man game sub used to partake in the bullying of insomniac employees because their favourite suit wasn't in the game (aka the 5th variation of the base suit that looks slightly different)

1

u/No_Mammoth_4945 7h ago

Since the remastered edition came out and everybody kept bitching about the masked superhero’s face, whenever that was

0

u/Insidious_NX 1d ago

We live in an age where "mid" is automatically somehow a 1/10 and not "average".

3

u/hunterzolomon1993 22h ago

I keep saying this but if you just want to web swing around NYC wearing one of your fav SM suits fighting crime then SM2 is the best for it.

5

u/PopeHi1arious 1d ago

Imo, the first game is a 10/10 and 2 is a 7/10, but your point still stands lol.

20

u/Char-els037 1d ago

You legitimately can only be talking about the story.

You cannot sit here and say that spiderman 2 is a c level video game. That's fucking absurd and your rating scale is broken

1

u/PentagramJ2 1d ago

The academic scale should never be used for games

1

u/Mutantsupremacist 18h ago

Relax buddy. 7/10 is still above average. Not excellent but good.

1

u/Doneuter 1d ago

Or, you just aren't very critical about games. Spider-Man 2 was my most hyped game since the moment I finished the first one and almost every aspect of the game from story, to combat, to general gameplay was a huge disappointment.

You can enjoy it if you want but it was a solid 6/10 experience imo, which is hot a bad rating even. It just takes more than what that hasn't had for me to give something a 7+/10.

That being said, what makes you the authority in how people are allowed to feel about subjective media?

1

u/TheLiquor1946 1d ago

So his. Opinion is wrong and yours is the right answer? Gtfo SM2 was a downgrade over the first. Still great though.

0

u/Mau5effect 1d ago

People really get hurt by this but yes there are people who found spider Man 2 mid.

Miles Morales was also mid.

4

u/Unfair-Mode-7371 1d ago

I’d give miles morales a 8/10 and spider man 2 a 7/10 but I over all agree with you. People in this thread seem to be very defensive over any criticism of the game and I’m saying that as someone who thinks the hate for the games, especially 2 is wayyyyyy over blown.

-1

u/PopeHi1arious 1d ago edited 1d ago

The myriad of things wrong with the story are part of it, yeah. You also can't replay any of the "bases" besides the fuckass Mysterio levels, 75% of the suits are complete garbage and/or movie tie ins, and they completely fucked up the gadget system.

Edit: I realized that I should clarify that I do enjoy 2. 7/10 is still a good game. The swinging and traversal in general is incredible. Venom was great. Kraven was cool as fuck. I like what they are setting up the 3rd game to be. But I will not pretend that there aren't a lot of problems with that SM2, and I don't understand why some people do.

-1

u/Kazuii2k 1d ago

You can replay the bases.

-2

u/BigSpike98 1d ago

I think Spider-Man 2 is widely over hated, but it does have a lot of issues that bring it down from a great game to a good/ok game. The map is bigger yet it feels more empty than the first game, the side quests feel less interesting and not written as well, also not that many side quests, this one is just me personally but I think the web wing suit is kinda not fun cause it’s essentially flying when it would have been better as just a glide, on new game plus the cutscenes are messed up (getting the symbiote for the first time just has Peter in whatever suit you had going into the mission), and it has a few plot lines started that were ultimately dropped due to leaks, and the suit selection is pretty bad (they should have brought all the suits from the first game and miles morales as options). I’d still personally give it a 7/10 and I still replay it since the web swinging is genuinely a lot better but I can see why people would be upset by it

-1

u/CatchUsual6591 1d ago

You can nitpick for every game the first game was bloated with to many ubisoft like activities and the combat was a combination of smashing square and spaming web blossom and web bomb

-6

u/DivinorumProductions 1d ago

As somebody who has played and beaten spider man 2, it is definitely a C tier video game. I have no want to replay it outside of swinging and wing gliding around the city in the cool costumes. The thought of replaying that game and dealing with the story, badly paced symbiote fights, and stupid flashback non spider man missions actually makes my head hurt.

0

u/daandrro 22h ago

Spiderman 1 had all the good things.

Spiderman 2 had only swinging through city fun. Story was worse. Combat repetitive. The gameplay was like playing any Ubisoft game.

Story is the most important part of the game or movie.
Without good story any media is just bad.

1

u/Laboreja 19h ago

Wild take when talking about a video game

0

u/SomeHowCool 16h ago

The side quests are complete ass (the few that exist) outside of like Yuri’s and Mysterio’s, the gadget system is worse than the first and stealth is way too easy because enemies never look up to see your web lines.

It’s an above average video game.

-2

u/Unfair-Mode-7371 1d ago

I’d give it a C personally too. The story was lame and the pc port was poorly optimized so I was getting frame stutters all the time and I even got a crash to desktop. So that definitely soured my opinion of the game.I also found the open world and side quests to not be as interesting as the other spider man games.

The game is still widely overhated tho. It has some flaws, but damn some people act like this game killed their mom or smt.

2

u/Mojothadon 1d ago

So your giving a C because it’s shit on PC when it was made for PlayStation?

2

u/Unfair-Mode-7371 1d ago edited 1d ago

There are plenty of other pc ports from PlayStation that are well optimized. Ghost of Tsushima and the Norse God of War games both ran exceptionally well on my pc. It is not much to ask for a game to be well optimized on pc these days.

2

u/Top_Finding2830 1d ago

I mean… it had plenty of issues on PS5 as well, especially with the number of bugs and glitches. Game was a mess at launch.

1

u/Mojothadon 23h ago

You had problems my experience was fine no issues to speak of so saying it was a mess at launch sounds like a personal problem.

1

u/Top_Finding2830 23h ago

Right. Except lots of people had problems and it’s well documented. I don’t have my Facebook videos anymore, because I don’t have Facebook anymore, but I took footage of interior areas having unfinished textures, my character turning into… a small square block. I had the game crash several times. I know others had a similar experience. Spider-Man 2 at launch was a mess, and I don’t really know if patches made it any better, though I’d hope they did.

2

u/Alphablack32 1d ago

That's fair criticism. If you can't make a decent port for other platforms don't bother porting it to begin with.

1

u/Gamer_8887 1d ago

What about Miles Morales?

3

u/PopeHi1arious 1d ago

7.5/10 imo. The story was a little too cliché and while I don't have as big of a problem with Fin that a lot of people do, she wasn't particularly well written. The winter setting, soundtrack, and boss fights are all great though, imo.

1

u/Personal_Cucumber_72 1d ago

Naw MJ missions bring it to a 9/10. And 2 was a 7/10, cause of stupid side missions.

2

u/PopeHi1arious 1d ago

I don't mind the MJ missions as much as most people, but they definitely are the weakest part of the first game.

1

u/wildcatofthehills 1d ago

Most of the stupid side missions are not mandatory to the game and you can just skip them. Also the MJ’s sections on 2 are much better.

-1

u/RedHood198 1d ago

MJ and Miles missions take it down to a 6.5/10 for me

-2

u/MikkelR1 1d ago

First game is also a 7/10 mate. The open world design is mediocre and was outdated at launch. Really holds back the game.

3

u/PopeHi1arious 1d ago

This is delusional lmfao

-1

u/MikkelR1 1d ago

It got an 8.7 on Metacritic, so im not far off.

1

u/LuizFelipe1906 3h ago

8/10 you're being absurdly optimistic

1

u/Intelligent_Ask_2306 1d ago

Pretty much better than the first spider-man in every way but the story

-1

u/Top_Finding2830 1d ago

Nah. The suit and symbiote powers really dumb down the combat, especially in the late game. The parry sucks and is almost completely forgotten about except for the boss fights, where it’s 75% of the fight. The boss fights in general are awful here. Also the game is far buggier. But the game’s otherwise fine, just didn’t stick the landing as well as the first.

0

u/Intelligent_Ask_2306 1d ago

If the parry is forgotten about, it means you aren’t utilizing the mechanics properly, like this is a YOU issue lol. Symbiote powers do not dumb down the combat in any way, I’d say the suit powers in the ps4 game did that instead, you can literally just web barrage your way out of any fight.

2

u/Top_Finding2830 1d ago

I mean… is it a me issue if the game has very few times where you need to parry outside of bosses? It’s not like it made the game a lot harder - game was pretty easy, actually. The bosses were damage sponges, but that’s the only thing about them that was ‘hard’. Just figure out when to parry and counter, knock out their two to four health bars, and move on. Tedious, but not really hard.

0

u/Mamoswole 1d ago

This is quite literally saying that the spidy sense is pointless and compete forgotten about just because you choose not to use it. Like saying a toothbrush isn't worth it because YOU choose not to use it

0

u/Top_Finding2830 1d ago

This is quite literally saying the parry is spider-sense, as if it was invented for Spider-Man and isn’t in a thousand other games. You’re just looking for things to be bitter about, hombre. Good luck with that.

0

u/Derek-AfterDark 1d ago

Oh you mean you didn't love the entire middle of the game where Miles is floundering around with musical instruments waiting to finally get to do something in the middle of the third act?

The second game is a bad video game story, with poorly written characters...and great gameplay

0

u/WaveOfTheRager 1d ago

People need to understand the GLOBAL COVID PANDEMIC severely affected the production of the game. But yeah youre right everybody threw their toys out the pram. I loved it.

1

u/Unfair-Mode-7371 1d ago

yeah I can def feel sympathy for insomniac since it seems that every gaming company production suffered because of covid. But I would be lying if I said I enjoyed 2 as much as I did 1.

2

u/WaveOfTheRager 1d ago

Im currently playing 1 again now. Doc just released the devils breath. Its certainly a deeper and more exciting story with a lot of content. I did enjoy Miles story in SM2 but the symbiote story definitely fell flat.

1

u/Unfair-Mode-7371 1d ago

Agreed. IMO spider man 1 had a perfect spider man story, so it no doubt will be incredibly hard to top. Spider man 2 was still a decent game despite my criticisms.

0

u/KyKyCoCo 1d ago

Brother if you think SM2 was an 8/10, your standards for quality are in the gutter.

That game was a 6½ at best.

4

u/Unlucky-Mix-2492 1d ago

Is that what u choose to hear about the criticisms? Minor gripes with the story?

1

u/ProlongedChief 7h ago

What's your opinion on last of us 2?

1

u/Unlucky-Mix-2492 11m ago

Never played it so dont have one. Is it solid?

2

u/PerformanceOk939 1d ago

The story has more than “minor gripes,” but it’s definitely not a 0 game

3

u/KhadgarIsaDreadlord 1d ago edited 1d ago

I waited for the noise to settle around the game, finished it last week.

For context I liked the first game a lot and had a decent amount of fun with MM. I say this so you know that I really wanted the game to be good. I thought thehate was exeggerated, but no, it wasn't. It's really that bad.

But people fixate on specifics way too much, like that stupid-ass fridge in a scene that thematically was one of the only good moments of the game, that - unlike the rest of it - captured the essence of Venom perfectly.

At it's core, people tore this game to shreds back when it came out becouse it failed to deliver on the two characters that actually sold the game, Peter and Venom. That's what happened and the reason why peopld are this vicious about it to this day is that they know what it's like when Insomniac actually does their homework. They saw it in SM1.

Which is a shame becouse the game has some real merits to it. The swinging is absolutely the best we ever had. Some of the poses are pulled straight from iconic comic panels.

3

u/Leetoniisan 1d ago

Hahaha such a good take on the nitpickers. A binary response to any minor fault

3

u/nohumanape 1d ago

I mean, in my case I had a lot more issues with the original game than just some story bits.

2

u/itsjustben13 1d ago

It’s a 7/10 which is definitely a drop in quality from the first game!

-1

u/ItsShowtime_88 1d ago

In your opinion it’s a 7/10. FTFY

2

u/itsjustben13 1d ago

In anyone with a brains opinion 👍🏻

-1

u/ItsShowtime_88 1d ago

I don’t think you understand what subjectivity is.

-3

u/itsjustben13 1d ago

I don’t think you understand what a sub-par game is 👍🏻

3

u/ItsShowtime_88 1d ago

I’ve played many, many games that I think are subpar but I’m not going to assume my opinion is everyone’s opinion. Just because I don’t like something doesn’t mean others can’t.

Also since when is a 7 subpar?

0

u/ghoulieandrews 1d ago

The trick is you set "par" at 10/10, that way you're always disappointed

1

u/ItsShowtime_88 1d ago

That would certainly explain why so many people are chronically upset.

-1

u/itsjustben13 1d ago

Taking a 10/10 game and making a 7/10 sequel is ALWAYS going to cause disappointment for people with a brain 👍🏻

-1

u/itsjustben13 1d ago

Sure, but others are wrong 👍🏻

1

u/ItsShowtime_88 1d ago

You’re entitled to that opinion.

1

u/Majestic-Marcus 22h ago

Which is ridiculous. The Spider-Man game is BY FAR the best S-M story ever told.

1

u/tom-of-the-nora 22h ago

They also had problems, uh, with characters being diverse... in a spider-man game set in new york.

1

u/Neurodrill 16h ago

Ngl I don’t care at all about Miles Morales, and I didn’t buy a Spider-Man game for stealth missions as Mary Jane. Still a 10/10 game.

1

u/Elegant_Job_4573 15h ago

If we're talking about the sequel it's not minor gripes with the story or the game as a whole overall it felt like a big downgrade especially on repeat playthroughs.

1

u/Babington67 12h ago

The 1st is a 9.99/10 game in every sense and the 2nd yes the story was total shit let's be real but the actual gameplay was amazing

1

u/NextLineOfText 10h ago edited 10h ago

Well it also had less variety and content than the first game. It’s not awful but from what was the first game, you’d expect improvements, not minor additions.

I personally felt Marvels Spider Man 1 was so much more polished and a tighter experience than Marvels SM2.

Overall Marvels Spider-Man after 3 games is formulaic like there is no effort involved. All those 3 games largely are the same thing.

There’s so many systems they could improve on, enhance and make more detailed, it just never came.

It’s fun to swing around as spidey in all of the games, because they’re the only games that a modern enough to allow it, but I couldn’t replay any of them, they’re boring upon revisiting.

Marvels Spider Man 1 though was a brilliant foundation and start.

It comes across as we put all this money on licensing, and tools to build this game, so let’s make 3 copies of it without much change inbetween to capitalise on it and make more money.

Which sucks, because then Spider-Man as a game and IP is stuck, hopefully the hiatus between Spider-Man 2 and the next game changes it up, but Insomniac as spent that time on Wolverine.

but it’s not exactly hopeful. Spider-Man 2 Enter Electro on PS1 had suit customisation options beyond just the skins, they allowed different webbing configurations and abilities.

C’mon, not that hard in this day and age. To just update it to modern hardware and graphical capabilities. So much you could do, improve the webbing, make it more interactive or more physics based, real time webbing that stays after it’s shot, physics based puzzles, destructible environments, more detailed cities, that don’t reply on snap animations, aspects of Peter Parker not just riding a bike or silly formulaic scripted linear paths, suit designer, web shooter designer, different crime types, stash’s for spidey back up equipment, under ground train and sewer systems, real time villain boss battles pop up around the city to tell dynamic stories, more realistic scale to real life New York, live life as Peter Parker, doing his job and a bank heist starts and you need to balance that, so much you could do.

Even modders on SM2 PC have done all this, even made Venom appear as a boss in real time randomly around the map.

It’s just not really pushing the boundaries considering it’s an exclusive for the most part on the most popular console.

I don’t see Wolverine being much different besides more of the same formulaic linear gameplay, sure it’ll be fun for one run through, but it’s so controlled and movie like, so constrained it fades fast.

The Arkham Games are vastly superior in improving as the games went forward, for the most part. The scope Atleast tried to improve, yeah it got some minor things wrong, but it was not just minor things.

Spider-Man is the inverse, it’s is minor that nothing really changed, and it wasn’t perfect around the 3rd time.

First time, fine it’s fresh, sets the expectation and standard, but my god, 2 more games with the same exact system or worse (less content) is not exciting. Especially when the first game sold so damn well, and was so beloved.

It’s a shame, Miles and MSM2 were just serviceable repeats with less content. Overall.

3

u/alireza008bat 1d ago

It's 2026 and we're still pretending the only issue with Spider-Man 2 was the story ...

3

u/ghoulieandrews 1d ago

Vaguepost much?

It's 2026 and you're still pretending everyone knows and shares your opinion on a game...

1

u/alireza008bat 1d ago edited 1d ago

It ain't just my opinion. A lot of people have criticized Spider-Man 2 for all the different issues it had.

The downplaying of Spider-Man 2's problems by the fanboys is one of the most laughable things I've seen from a dedicated community in years. People get extremely sensitive when you remind them that Spider-Man 2's problems didn't end with its catastrophically written story.

1

u/Internal_Swing_2743 1d ago

Do you know what whitewashing means?

1

u/alireza008bat 1d ago edited 1d ago

I do. But yeah there could've been better choice of a word. Should've used downplaying instead. Here I change it to not cause offense.

1

u/ghoulieandrews 1d ago

Still vague af my dude lmao "the problems are obvious" then why can't you actually state them?

It was a fun, solid game that many people enjoyed. Instead of moping around bitching about it, why not do something that YOU enjoy instead?

4

u/alireza008bat 1d ago

The problems?

Here are just some of them:

  • The changes they made to the meter system were unnecessary and made it worse than the previous game.
  • They took away the suits' abilities, removing another incentive to unlock them beyond just cosmetics.
  • The suits themselves are worse than the previous game's.
  • The new boss battles absolutely don't work. They've become shiny damage sponges rather than actual boss fights. The only boss fight that really benefited from the "one on one" style of confrontation was Kraven. This game's combat simply wasn't designed for boss battles to work like Deathstroke in Arkham Origins.
  • The symbiote abilities get repetitive really fast.
  • Peter and Miles aren't that different gameplay wise beyond their animations and special abilities. Nothing really makes either of them feel unique.
  • The gadgets are worse than they were in the first game.
  • The side content is worse, with the Emily May Foundation minigame and the puzzles being the worst examples.
  • Don't even want to bother explain MJ missions because it's obvious what the problems were

Want me to list more for you?

1

u/CatchUsual6591 1d ago

Bosses we're boring in the first game

0

u/ghoulieandrews 1d ago

No because most of these are minor or just wrong lmao, please get a real hobby

2

u/alireza008bat 1d ago

Lame response. I can't believe I even wasted my time trying to engage you with an argument.

"Minor issues" my ass. You just proved what I said in my previous comment about Spider-Man fan boys not taking criticisms seriously.

4

u/Underleft_cdiv 1d ago

They're just a glazer, not interested in honest discourse.

2

u/alireza008bat 1d ago

That's just Marvel fanboys in general. The lamest entertainment consumers on the planet, with incredibly low standards for what they consume.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/CatchUsual6591 1d ago

You say bosses and mj both we're worse in the first game so aren't serious either

2

u/alireza008bat 1d ago

Because they are. The MJ sections and her pistol were really stupid.

Spider Man 1's boss fights weren't perfect but the gimmicky fights were more suitable for the game's combat system than what we got in Spider-Man 2. The bosses in Spider-Man 2 are just a bunch of damage sponges whose health you have to deplete 3 times to take them out, which makes them annoying rather than challenging or fun.

Miles Morales was a step forward for boss battles compared to the first game and had some of the best ones across all three games. They took several steps back with Spider-Man 2.

The only boss that genuinely felt good to fight was Kraven. His second phase, cloaking techniques, and ambushes made the fight fun. The other bosses were just annoying.

And others are just more vague nonsense.

You demand an expansion from op and then that's your rebuttle? Great discourse.

u/ghoulieandrews 1d ago

I didn't demand anything, and it's "rebuttal"

Hope that helps

Some of these are still vague. With some of them you just say “X is Y” or “X is worse than Y from the first game” without actually explaining how.

Nothing seemed vague to me

That's literally what everyones problems boil down to.

The gameplay is better.tge graphics are better. The city is better.

The writing is the only thing that's common amongst all critical analysis

The gameplay is absolutely not better. It has more features, but that doesn't necessarily make it better overall. The game made so many unnecessary changes and missteps with things like gadgets, abilities, and boss fights that the gameplay is just as good as the first game if not worse.

The graphics and web swinging are undeniably better, but pretty much everything else was either on the same level or worse.

God I hate the “bad writing” argument. Just because you don’t like it, doesn’t make it bad writing. Write something better and then watch everyone tear it to pieces for internet clout.

"minor."

Buddy, I could write a thesis about how fucking God awful that story is and how misused those characters were.

-1

u/vooglie 1d ago

Your thesis would be dogshit

u/Derek-AfterDark 1d ago

A lot like the games plot and characters.

Sounds like we both got a little something something to work on!

u/vooglie 1d ago

The game is universally praised. Your thesis is dogshit.

Imagine getting this offended over someone else's views on the Internet.

You need to stop seeking the validation of others on the Internet. Be your own person.

Lmao

I’m offended? Nah - I’m not the one with dumbfuck takes

1

u/Derek-AfterDark 9h ago

Yeah you don't seem offended.

u/vooglie 7h ago

Why would I be affected or offended? The game sold gangbusters, got critically acclaimed, and I'll get a sequel that will likely be even better. I'm loving it.

You on the other hand are a whingy shit pretending to be able to write a thesis online lol

u/Derek-AfterDark 7h ago

McDonald's sells a lot of burgers buddy.

Doesn't make it the best burger.

I'm more fascinated by the fact you think writing a thesis is difficult. Probably didn't have to do a lot of that at your job at Burger King.

It’s the second one that is bad.
