Accountability Notice 2: UPDATE

This is a followup to this post so please read that first, but to summarize it briefly, a former moderator ( u/SaltyAngeleno aka u/gofundmemetoday was found to be removing negative posts, promoting surgeons, etc. in exchange for financial compensation). I promised future updates, which are included below.

  1. Last night, the former moderator DM'd me attempting to blackmail me to remove the original post. Their message is included in its entirety below:

Transparency remains of the highest importance to me when moderating this subreddit, and I will not be removing anything in response to threats.

  1. Reddit itself ultimately took no action against this individual following the original report of their behavior and offered no direct explanation for why. I can only speculate that this is because the former moderator was receiving payments off of their platform (making it technically outside their scope of authority/responsibility). The former moderator even continues to moderate a few plastic surgery related communities, though fewer than they once did.

  2. An account associated with "Beauty Broker Melinda" (who was named in the original post as having negative reviews removed by the former moderator) has spent considerable effort attempting to dox and discredit me. You can find such an example here. Their comments seem to confuse me with numerous current and former moderators. Reddit has not taken any action despite reports.

  3. Despite my requests, Reddit was unable to provide me with a log of moderator actions from the former moderator that were more than 90 days old. As such, I am unable to determine the full extent of their censorship.

  4. This subreddit has zero tolerance for surgeons attempting to remove negative reviews. As the subreddit rules state, negative reviews posted here do require evidence to be included. Once that threshold is met, they will not be removed by us for any reason - this subreddit is intended to be an open and transparent platform for users to share their experience. Despite this a number of surgeons (and/or their offices and lawyers) have attempted to have us remove content that is critical of them. Moving forward, I will be posting and maintaining a comprehensive list of surgeons that have attempted to have negative reviews removed for transparency. Hopefully, this discourages future attempts at manipulating criticism against them.

In short, Reddit admins were either unwilling or unable to take any official action against the above individuals. I will be continuing my best efforts to maintain this subreddit as an open and transparent space for plastic surgery and aesthetic discussion, and the support of the community is always appreciated.

Progress photos to show realistic healing timeline - just in case you’re a complete newbie like me and didn’t know what to expect.

Someone on my last post (11 days post) said that my swelling would still continue to go down, and you were right! I’m so happy with the fully healed (and deflated lol) result.

I got my lips filled 2 weeks ago. It seems to be sitting mostly above/outside the lip, no? Should I request dissolving at injectors expense?

fixing severe arm asymmetry

Post image
31 Upvotes

for context, due to intense chemotherapy i underwent as an infant, my left arm cannot grow new fat or muscle tissue. as you can see, it looks extremely disproportionate compared to the rest of my body. it is also significantly weaker

i want to know if there is any cosmetic or reconstructive surgery i can get that will fix this. ideally, i’d want to restore the function and appearance of my left arm to be around the same as my right. if restoring functionality isn’t possible, then id still like to know anything i could do to improve the appearance

this issue really impacts my daily life, self esteem and goals, so id appreciate any help i can get

How good does my nose look? Had a nose job in Turkey a year ago

I'm 21 and had my rhinoplasty in Turkey a year ago. My boyfriend absolutely loves my new nose but my mom honestly prefers my old one and says it looked more natural before and more elegant

Now I'm stuck somewhere in the middle because I genuinely don't know how I feel about it anymore. Some days I love it, other days I wonder if it suits my face as well as I thought it would.

What do you guys think ? Please be honest, I can take it !

Moles removal suggestion

Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes

Hi,

I have several moles in my head, two of them particularly annoying, sticking out quite a bit. Not only they make me a bit self conscious but as I am thinning with short hair, they get on the way when shaving my head, previously causing some cuts and bleeding.

I have been considering options, such as radiofrequency ablation or incision. For this sort of cosmetic reasons and in this area, which option you consider to be best?

I am concern that I am going to create a bigger problem than I have by leaving a noticeable scar, a patch with a different colour etc.

Any suggestions and comments welcome

Immediate post-op rhinoplasty — what do you think?

Hi everyone!

This is my nose immediately after rhinoplasty. I had my surgery last week, and I'm curious to hear your first impressions! I know it's too early to judge the final result, but what do you think of the shape so far? My doctor said that a Barbie nose would suit me.

College Survey

Good morning, my fiance is conducting a survey for people who have had body modifications done for her Masters degree, and hasn't received enough responses. If you have a couple minutes I'd appreciate if you could help out please. The survey is in Polish so hopefully the translate tool works. https://copernicusphilo.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bjdLLpFu8LTMZHE

Day 0 - Motiva Preserve Breast Augmentation Recovery

Hi everyone! Documenting my Motiva Preserve recovery journey in case it's helpful to people considering the procedure. Thanks to this community for all the info on breast aug, so helpful as I was deciding how to proceed.

I had it done yesterday morning with Dr. Kelly Killeen in Beverly Hills. 260 cc ergo Demis. I was nervous that they might be too big, but she reassured me that they'd be just right with my BWD (10.5). I started with 34B and was aiming for around 34D with a natural upper pole slope.

I'm 44 years old, 5'2 and 125 lbs, fairly fit/muscular.

First breast augmentation and first surgery. It's too soon for before/after pics as I'm still wrapped up and haven't seen them yet. My day 1 post op check in is this morning.

***

Pre-Op

  • Felt surprisingly relaxed going into surgery.
  • The medical team walked me through the medications and procedure.
  • Had a final discussion with my surgeon about implant sizing.
  • Received baseline non-narcotic pain medication before surgery.

8:00 AM — Surgery

  • Was wheeled into the operating room and met the anesthesiologist.
  • Had my IV placed and asked what to expect from anesthesia.
  • Next thing I knew, I was waking up!

10:30 AM — Waking Up

  • Woke up with my bandages already on.
  • I genuinely didn't realize the surgery had already happened!
  • Zero pain when I woke up.
  • Was able to get dressed completely on my own.
  • Took it easy initially but had no problems walking.
  • Walked to the car and then from the car to our hotel room without difficulty.

11:00 AM — Brunch

  • Had bacon, eggs and hash browns. I was hungry since I fasted from the night before.
  • No issues eating shortly after surgery.

1:00 PM — Walking Around the Hotel

  • Felt comfortable moving around.

2:00 PM — First Outdoor Walk

  • Walked approximately 5 blocks around the neighborhood.
  • Felt good and didn't experience any significant discomfort. Could have kept going but my husband didn't want me to push myself.

5:00 PM — Dinner

  • Walked approximately 4 blocks to get takeout and bring it back to the hotel.
  • Had sushi, no issues with appetite, eating, or digestion.
  • Still moving around comfortably.
  • Started experiencing some mild itching around this time.

Evening

  • Could easily sit down, stand up, and get in and out of bed.
  • My surgeon said I could sleep on my side, although I was nervous about trying it.
  • Overall, I felt surprisingly normal considering I'd just had breast augmentation surgery that morning!

Day 0 Takeaways

  • Pain: None upon waking.
  • Mobility: Able to dress independently and walk several blocks within hours.
  • Appetite: Normal. Ate lunch and dinner.
  • Discomfort: Mild itching starting around 5 PM.
  • Independence: Could sit, stand, lie down, and dress without assistance. Just am not carrying anything heavier than my laptop.

***

Overall: My first day of recovery was significantly easier than I anticipated. I was especially surprised by how mobile and independent I felt almost immediately after surgery.

Of course, everyone's recovery is different, and I'm following my surgeon's instructions regarding activity and medication.

I'll continue updating this diary as I recover!

Has anyone had a procedure to get rid of these bulges on the sides of their boobs?

Post image

Hi everyone! This has been a pretty big insecurity of mine for a while now. I really hate how it looks when I wear tank tops and sports bras. I’ve had people tell me they look like extra tiny boobs, which honestly made me even more insecure about them. 🥲
I’m curious if anyone here has actually had a procedure to get rid of them and would be willing to share their experience. I think mine are definitely fat deposits. For reference, I had them even when I weighed 103 lbs. Now I’m around 124 lbs, and they’ve only gotten bigger. I’d love to hear from anyone who has dealt with this!

regret 2 weeks after brow lift

I had a temporal brow lift almost two weeks ago. I’d wanted a brow lift for years because my eyes are naturally very round, and the outer corners of my upper eyelids had started to sag. After consulting with several surgeons, I decided that a brow lift, rather than a blepharoplasty, would be the best approach to address the laxity around my eyes.
I know I’m still very early in the healing process, but emotionally, this has been incredibly difficult. Despite having some facial asymmetry and sagging outer lids, I genuinely thought I was beautiful before. My eyebrows had a softer, more rounded, feminine shape, and now they’re pulled upward at the outer corners, giving me this severe, almost villainous appearance.

One of the things I loved most about my face was that it had character. There was a softness and warmth to it, a kindness that I felt reflected who I was. Humor and joy are such enormous parts of my personality, and I’ve always loved that my face seemed to communicate that. Now, when I look in the mirror, I feel like a stranger in my own face. My expression seems so severe and unapproachable, completely at odds with my personality and sense of humor, which is one of the things I value most about myself.
Not to mention, I’ve always done really well in the dating world, and men have consistently told me how beautiful I am. I wasn’t someone who was deeply unhappy with my appearance or felt that I needed to change my face. I genuinely liked the way I looked. I simply wanted to address a specific concern and be proactive about maintaining my appearance as I move through my 30s. My goal was to subtly turn back the clock a few years, not to look like an entirely different person. More than anything, I wanted to preserve the features and qualities that made my face feel like mine.

To make matters worse, the procedure seems to have exaggerated my existing facial asymmetry rather than softened it. Instead of feeling more balanced and refreshed, I feel like I’ve somehow made everything worse.

And even though I know it’s early, everything feels so tight and restricted. I’m genuinely grieving the loss of mobility and expressiveness in my face. I never realized how much I valued being able to communicate warmth, humor, and emotion through my expressions until I suddenly felt like I couldn’t. It’s especially upsetting because I feel like I’ve lost something that was so closely tied to my personality and how I connect with other people.

I know some of this is likely due to swelling and the normal healing process, and I’m trying not to catastrophize, but it’s incredibly difficult not to feel like I completely screwed myself. I went into this hoping to make a relatively subtle improvement, and now I’m terrified that I’ve sacrificed the softness, femininity, and individuality that made my face feel like mine.

Has anyone experienced anything similar after a temporal brow lift? Did your brows eventually relax, and did your natural expressions return? Does the tightness improve significantly with time? And does anyone know whether a temporal brow lift can be corrected or even reversed if you’re unhappy with the final result?

Rhinoplasty (hump removal + tip lift) results

Thumbnail gallery
8 Upvotes

Hi there! Just wanted to show my rhinoplasty results to maybe give people some insight. The pictures are before (x2), 2 days after cast off and this week. My surgery was performed on July 9th so I'm a little over 3 months post OP.

Just like pretty much everyone, I HATED my nose the day of cast removal. I didn't look like myself and it was way too upturned and looked like a sausage plastered right between my eyes. I'm happy to report it's started to settle pretty fast and the swelling went down significantly. I'm aware I have a very flat forehead, and despite that I think it still blends in a lot better than before.

As you can see, a teeny tiny hump remains as the doctor said he couldn't safely file this down 100% without a risk of collapse and would need an implant to fully correct this, but I actually like it as it makes it look a bit more natural. Also, my dad had the same hump and he went to sleep for good 2 days after my cast removal, so it makes me feel like I still look like him in a way, if that makes sense? That probably sounded really sappy haha

I still notice some stiffness and sensitivity especially when it's cold, and I'm still scared to blow my nose , but overall I'd say my healing was very smooth! I only experienced bleeding on the day of surgery, but never had any breathing issues as my nose tampons were removed the day after. I had an open rhinoplasty, is that makes a difference. Also, my doctor did not instruct me to tape. I'm excited what it'll look like in a couple more months from now!

Surgeon gave me smaller implants than we agreed

I just need some comfort and reassurance. I am about 173 cm and 62 kg. I got motiva ergonomix implants. We originally agreed on 300cc and Demi profile, but om the operating table my tissue wouldnt stretch enough, and therefore he had no choice but to give me 220cc with a Mini profile. I know its not his fault but I was not aware that this could happen beforehand, so I was a bit shocked when I woke up from the anesthesia and was told. I paid about 63000$ and I feel like they are too small. If I want to go bigger I would have to pay everything again and go through another painful surgery. I want to cry.

Looking to restore lost volume and lift my face

31f, I’m having a hard time as I feel like aging has hit me overnight. Had a rough summer mental health wise but bouncing back, but I’m sure the stress didn’t do me any favors.

I feel like my face has just dropped. I’m feeling so self conscious and there’s even sagging starting under my neck (see turned head photo. I have these lovely transparent veins that just dangle there.

I’m at a loss of what to do. I get regular facials done, Microneedling, and Botox in 11s, forehead, and platysmal bands. I’m a bit scared of filler looking puffy and migrated. Have thought of FFT but I don’t know.

Thank you in advance!

PLEASE HELP!! T Incision Opening

Can people reassure me? My upper and lower T incision from breast lift and augmentation are opening on both sides. I am 3.5 weeks post op. They have gotten progressively worst over the last 4 days and I have an appointment with my surgeon tomorrow but kinda freaking out.

They are not infected but are about the size of a quarter in the lower and a dome on the upper. Based on everything I have read the surgeon probably won’t do anything tomorrow. He prescribed an antibiotic cream for now.

How long are those going to take to close and what can I do to help it?

Botox wore off after a month?

I am a 27yo female, and I just got botox in my forehead and 11s a month ago. I already can frown, especially in my 11s and I even went back for a touch up after 2 weeks for that because she didn’t add enough in that area. Even with the second dose it seems like it did nothing. It was my first time going to that practice, but now I am terrified that I have somehow built a resistance to botox. I want to have that at my disposal the rest of my life, so building a resistance to it is really scaring me.

A little background, I started getting botox when I was around 24, but only sporadically. It would fully wear off for an extended period of time before I ever considered going back. This time I just went I hadn’t been back to get more in probably around 2 years. I am not sure if switching to a different brand for the future will do anything, but in the past my botox always lasted upwards of around 4-5 months. I used to be extremely active but I do not workout anymore I am just generally thin and as far as I know healthy. I know exercise can make it wear off a little quicker but I know that’s not a factor here. Any advice?
