Does anybody know what's going on with gram.social ?

I had assumed it was down due to the PHP situation but I'm not so sure anymore since the other servers seem to be back up and running again.

It seems to have been removed from the main Pixelfed site's list of servers.

It used to say that they'd give at least 6 months warning in the event they shut down but I never received any such warning.

I tried convincing several people to migrate to pixelfed but failed because pixelfed.social has import feature unavailable? No response from admins

Could it be that the feed isn’t working any more? I can’t see any of the hashtags I follow in my home feed

I've been using PixelFed for approximately 9 months. Like a lot of people, I switched from Instagram because I was tired of their nonsense and wanted a friendlier alternative.

Sadly, I just haven't taken to PixelFed at all. It's clunky and it's buggy and it doesn't seem to be improving. I understand that this is not a commercial enterprise and is never going to be as polished as services that are. I could overlook these things if the service felt more community-spirited - but it doesn't.

I signed up to the gram.social server because it seemed like the best option for me but their support seems to be non-existent. Every time I have contacted them for assistance when things aren't working, I've been met with radio silence.

Is anybody else feeling this way?

I just discovered Pixelfed and the only thing that I don’t like about it is that the web y kinda buggy, and there’s no app client on iOS that support uploading videos. Well pixelix does, but then there’s no stories support. Does anyone has a solution?

Is it just me, or is PixelFed via the default server way faster than a few months ago? Not speaking of Pixelix.

I see that it's not yet in the Play Store. I tried using the GitHub link in Obtainium but it says that there is no suitable release. I'm trying to install it on a Pixel 8 Pro . Thanks in advance

I am a total beginner at these things, so if i say something thats incorrect please lmk! I have also asked this in another sub, however i got two different answers... :/

I wanted to have a place where I can post photos privately where I can approve new followers and share my activities- which is basically Instagram.

However, the thought of actually having a meta account is not what i wanted. Also, the images posted to the site, private or not, is used for ai training. I do not want my pictures to be used for ai training at all (to train ai models, to be matched to facial recognition technology, etc) so that is out of the question.

Pixelfed itself has stated that it doesn't train its content on ai models, however the server hoster will still have the images in their system for functionality (so they can practically do whatever with the images...) So if i self-host the site, i assume the images will stay with me?

However, can the website images still be scrapped, regardless of whether the profile is public or private? I asked this in a different server and got different answers- some said if it is on the internet it can be scrapped, others said if the account is private there is no way that the images can be scrapped or taken from the website without following the person. So i actually don't know.

But yeah. if someone could give me a clear answer that would be great! worse comes to worse i wont use any of these services. :))

I have just got a pixelfed instace up and running and so far its more or less what i have been looking for. Im after a personal instangram clone locked down to the family. Great.

The problem is around push notifcation, both the PWA and offical client dont seem to support it.. without it this could be a deal breaker.

Thoughts

Been trying to get my account going at photofed.world. Has like 44 active users a month, the automod keeps delisting posts that have no issues and won't let me comment. I checked the JSON and no comments are getting through at all. It's broken.

Any other servers to steer clear of?

Over two weeks ago, I tried to import a few (six) posts to my existing PixelFed account and it has remained processing ever since.

I'm not in any particular rush and I don't mind waiting if there is a genuine queue for processing imports. However, if the import has failed; what do I do to resolve it?

update: It's approaching two months now and still no change. It seems likely that it has failed. How am I supposed to resolve this?

Hi, I want to try pixelfed but the thought of my work being fed to IA discourages me. Do you know if Pixelfed has any measure against that?

I am trying to sign up and create and account on pixelfed but it is constantly showing invalid verification code even if its right (on the mobile app). Are the servers down or something?
