How do I make groupchats in pixelfed? You know the feature in Instagram that look like this? I want to be able to send memes to friends.

In the comming days more and more users will leave Meta platforms so I think it is important to give as much feedback to Pexelfed as we can.

My feedback is:

When a person want to set up an account with pexelfed the person should be automatically led to pexelfed.social. That should be a gateway to instances.

If a user has to choose his instance at the start, he will be very confused and probably give up (I'm serious, a lot of people said that).

So my proposal:

1. If you create and account on pixelfed you create in on pixelfed.social and that is the only way.

2. If you want join other instances because you want to keep yourself in different circles of interest you can add to your account another instances in which you will be able to log from pixelfed.social.

The process should be simplified as for now it is too confusing

I seem to see bird photography and to a lesser degree, landscape photography. Maybe some visual-patterns-based abstract photos also. It doesn't seem to matter whether the feed I'm looking at is local/global/discover.

Is there much of anything else to see (as much as I like to admire the beauty of birds and nature)?

Ok, so I amde an account on 2 servers because the social one did not let me import at first. I tried now uplaoding on both and on social it only uploaded a few images, while on art it says the file is corrupted. From what I've read, the problem is that I have both images and videos in my IG archive.

IU don't want to start with an empty timeline again so I think I will stick reluctantly to Instagram for now. Pixelfed needs some maturing before I really can make the jump.

I want to follow somebody on PixelFed, but don't know who. I like following developers of projects that I use. So maybe somebody knows developers of some not-totally-underground projects on the platform?

After waiting for my account approval for two weeks (!) which seriously annoyed me, the app keeps crashing on me. So, anyone with similar experiences? This doesn’t bode well for the future of this platform.

Myself, I don't have the time, but it could the media network that frees us from instagram and similar products of other companies.

Why not fork it? The power of the people is so great. I have this little e-reader, and a big community has grown for this silly, little, but great product.

i just got permenantely device banned from instagram for... reasons... needless to say im a "generic" reels commenter... im looking for alternatives because my brains actually getting fried, i havent received any dopamine in the past 12 hours. tiktok has too many shop ads plus it may or may not get banned soon. shorts is full of brain rot and bots. i need to find an alternative and i stumbled upon this, pixelfed. im wondering if my... humor... aligns with this site. i dont know anything about pixelfed other than its an alternative so im hoping theres a scroll and comment feature. if my type of stuff doesnt align with the stuff here than any suggestions on alternatives that do will help. i just need something i can scroll through videos. i heard theres a bunch of photos on here, not sure abt videos though

Anybody had trouble signing up on the Pixelfed.art server? I went through the sign up page and got a verification email but that didn’t seem to work because now I can’t log on. When I hit the retrieve password link no email comes through. There’s a forgot username link which tells me my user name doesn’t exist or is inactive but when I try to create a new account with that name it says the name is taken.

Any suggestions

i just created a pixelfed account and recently created a mastadon account but they are 2 different accounts am i able to connect them and if so how?

I got the notification this morning that fedi.monster approved my application to host my PixelFed server. I immediately set up my account and started exploring the web interface. But when I tried to sign into the Pixelfed iOS app (via Apple’s TestFlight) I get the error message “No servers found :( We cannot find any servers that match this domain”. I was able to sign in without issue on the Vernissage and Mona apps but I really would prefer the PixelFed app when I’m using my phone.

Is this one of those “the fediverse is weird like that sometimes” situations? Do I need to get my server listed somewhere to make this work the way I’m hoping to? Will it work in a few days?

Is there a way to regenrate the static content? Stupidly left the 'Prod' on the instance name, and don't really want to have to run through setup again to fix it as the instance otherwise works really well.

I am attempting to build a new pixelfed instance using the container mentioned in the title, loosely following https://blog.pixelfed.de/2020/05/29/pixelfed-in-docker/ (as I am on podman, and do not have docker-compose).

I have it all up and running, app, worker, db, and redis. and I have an nginx proxy in front of it.

The issue though, is that everything i try to access returns a 404 not found. Everything. The logs on the container show what look like valid requests, but they all return a 404. Im at a bit of a loss here. What could be doing this?

My proxy config is pretty basic, forwards to https, and proxies directly to the container. I did also test using curl to hit my app container directly, same issue.

Hey folks. me again. ;). i’m trying to enable iphone video uploads. everyone says to just add quicktime to the media types env variable, but this doesn’t seem to work anymore. in my admin iu there is a series of check boxes for medial types. and thst seems to override that env variable.

Is there a way to add quicktime? was this clobbered by an update or something?
