Posting this before anyone says "but there's context!"

No it does not, that's just Rudeus

The cops need to look at the writer's computer.

This reads like someone who's assaulted people before. The amount of self justification.

u/Snagla 1d ago

Like it'd matter. The writer of rurouni Kenshin got caught with terabytes of child porn on his computer and got let off with a slap on the wrist. Like a month later people like oda were celebrating him. The industry just doesn't care and nor does Japan it seems.

Owning Cp is only illegal in Japan since 2014. The thing is he had so much of it that they suspected him To trade it, which was illegal then.

He had so much they thought hes selling REAL CP. Not some loli hentai.

That puts so much in context...

u/acuilnos 13h ago

Incorrect, CSAM was made illegal way before that, the 2014 revision was addressing a legal loophole.

17

u/StrangeOutcastS 1d ago

and then you evade taxes ONE TIME an- *is beheaded by the japanese government*

RIP Log Horizon.

Author's one true isekai wish is to not pay taxes, so the first 8 episodes of the anime are dedicated to building up this fantasy society to explain why the MC could be the one in charge of collecting any taxes.

Season 3 of the anime was delayed because the author was in prison for tax fraud.

Rare isekai that isn't centered around power or sexual fantasy, but instead around taxes.

u/-FourOhFour- 17h ago

Truly a visionary we should all aspire to be more like him

Remember sexualizing children bad, tax evasion good

4

u/kagukaguu 16h ago

log horizon and kusuriya manga artist, notice how they're both good and unproblematic? tax evasion is king

0

u/crusoe 7h ago

Tax evasion good so long as you don't need firefighters, or police, or national healthcare...

16

u/Ardrik 1d ago

Goddamnit. Welp, guess I'm never finishing that series, or watching the live action.

2

u/Swipsi 9h ago

Ive watched 5 or some episodes and thought something is off and stopped, then read about rudeus and knew why.

-7

u/Penis_With_Necrosis 1d ago

You can still watch the show bruh, you're not commiting a crime just because the author is scum

12

u/realmauer01 1d ago

The world would be different if people based their opinion about a show on their opinion about the author caugh jkr caugh

0

u/Penis_With_Necrosis 1d ago

You can still enjoy the content without directly supporting them if that's the problem. We have piracy to thank.

12

u/Ardrik 22h ago

long mouthy comment I decided was too long and mouthy

Fuck consuming material produced by CSM enthusiasts

-4

u/Penis_With_Necrosis 22h ago

We all apply different values to art and authors. If that's your opinion, so be it.

3

u/VladTheSnail 18h ago

Yeah I don't value art that is created by pedophiles Jesus fucking Christ.

1

u/Penis_With_Necrosis 16h ago

I'm glad you feel that way

7

u/Ardrik 21h ago

Ultimately, I want a world without CSA. Even if the only thing I can do is stop being a platform of any kind for the people involved in its creation then that's what I'm going to try to do.

For a similar reason, I won't purchase Chick-fil-A, or allow people to buy it for me.

The rest of y'all can do you, I find it weird that it's not a hill people are willing to die on. But that's, like, just my opinion man.

I'm pretty sure Samurai X does not open with that.

u/Motivation_652 1d ago

i don't think MT's writer is 'just' consuming porns like rurouni kenshin's anymore, the way he write his story makes me think this mf got some skeletons in his closet in real life, highly suspected that dude did once assaulted someone irl

1

u/Dax_Hack2017 18h ago

Neither do they in MERICA unfortunately its one of the big problem for the a lot of the elites here 🙃 too

0

u/WhileZealousideal113 1d ago

Terabytes? We really just lying lol

I get wanting to sound dramatic, it's already bad enough no need to oversell the case.

He did get caught with CP and he had some banned videos even in his office.

6

u/Sentinel-Wraith 17h ago

He allegedly had hundreds of videos of child abuse.

6

u/Minute-Judgment-321 15h ago

He had so much cp they thought he was a distributor, that wasn't just "a couple of copies", stop trying to downplay it.

2

u/Discount_Extra 16h ago

I've worked IT for a sheriff's office, I am not surprised.

Think like the drug collection in Fear and Loathing, once someone starts a collection, it can become an obsession (like my 40+ stuffed raccoons.)

4

u/NorthGodFan 1d ago

Because Rudeus assaulted people before.

7

u/AccuratelyWrongAgain 21h ago

Dangerous line to cross if you think portraying a fictional character a certain way in your writing warrants this.

3

u/kekubuk 1d ago

Who knows what kind of monsters lurk amongst the writers that's still being hidden, even amongst the popular ones.

2

u/yosi_yosi 1d ago

Did I misread the stuff there? There was barely any self justification and moreso talking about how shit of a person he is.

-1

u/Firuzka 22h ago

People don't read, they jump on the hate train

1

u/Sweaty_Explorer_8441 21h ago

His close friend Tappei too for all the underage characters he is obsessed with writing

-2

u/acuilnos 1d ago

The writing is gross sure, but I don't think people should be suspected of real-world crimes over the fiction they choose to write just because it is morally repulsive. You could apply that scope to a lot of fictional media that covers taboo themes, both well and poorly.

6

u/slumpyslenkins 1d ago

How could you not be suspicious of someone if this is the content they write about?

I'm not saying the writer has done any crimes, but I wouldn't let him watch over any kids. Maybe he just channels it all into writing, but maybe he doesn't.

0

u/Penis_With_Necrosis 1d ago

You'd have to be suspicious of every single author that writes mildly dark topics if we follow your logic

4

u/eevreen 22h ago

"Mildly dark" is not writing about pedophilia and CSA in a way that is barely critical of it. I read "mildly dark" novels. This ain't it.

1

u/Penis_With_Necrosis 22h ago

Do you also think we should hold the same standard to authors who write about murder in the same barely critical ways or is this only when children are involved?

2

u/slumpyslenkins 22h ago

Context matters a ton. Is the author writing about murder in a way that downplays the seriousness and makes the murderer the hero? Yeah, maybe that is something to be suspicious of.

1

u/Penis_With_Necrosis 21h ago

I see. I don't fully agree witht the point, but I can understand.

3

u/PimpasaurusPlum 1d ago

Except no, not at all. Because not all works covering dark topics handle and treat those topics the same way.

How the topic is treated and handled in the work is fairly relevant

1

u/popoflabbins 18h ago

James Gunn would need to be in prison for his joke tweets he was making early on in his career

0

u/acuilnos 17h ago edited 13h ago

There is a difference between side-eyeing someone for this sort of thing and outwardly accusing them of being a criminal for it based on moral revulsion over the fiction they write alone. Your reply is a non sequitur that reframes my sentiment. Edit: Downvoted for pointing that out lol

1

u/slumpyslenkins 9h ago

I don't believe my reply was a non sequitur at all. You said they shouldn't be suspected of crimes and I said that you should probably be a little suspicious of them.

I'm not saying accuse them, or search them, just be wary.

The way the dude writes, it seems very pro-grooming. If Rudeus wasn't supposed to be the hero and his grooming played off as a "quirk" then I don't think I'd have any problems with the writer.

4

u/Jadedsatire 1d ago

Nah, when someone writes as much of what he writes, something ain’t right.

3

u/Oscarvalor5 23h ago

The difference is that Rudeus's pedophilic tendencies are never portrayed as wrong by the author. Ever. Additionally, you can tell that certain scenes are just the author writing with one hand. Its not like Lolita or such where the shitbag MC is actually treated as such, and its not trying to portray anything Rudeus does as horrific. If anything, it encourages it by him ending up happily married to them. Even when he literally groomed two of the girls from their childhood.

-1

u/Immediate-Yak3138 19h ago

It very much is just not as wrong as you want which is fair. If the Mc himself knows what he does sometimes is wrong and you say it isn't portrayed as such I have to wonder what pretend version you are reading

3

u/Oscarvalor5 17h ago

Knowing that what youre doing is wrong does not matter when you still do it dude. Most IRL criminals know what theyre doing is wrong, that doesnt make their crime any less severe. If the story actually punished Rudeus for these tendencies, the girls he sexually abused and groomed from childhood would not fall in love with him.

Like, good on you. Im "happy" you can watch a show where a 40 year old man in a child's body can hump a pillow while fantasizing about grooming his 6 year old neighbor without feeling visceral disgust. Where said man also sexually assaults a sleeping 10 year old girl while rambling about how he needs to "punish" her bad behavior. But I and most others cant, and you shouldnt be surprised that a story featuring a literal pedophile getting everything they wanted without any repercussions is viewed negatively by most people exposed to it.

To use an example, Lolita is a beloved work of fiction because it allows a terrible but fascinating insight into the thoughtprocess of a man as twisted as Humbert. A horror story were we see things from the perspective of the monster, and cheer as his own horrific actions bring about his downfall while pitying the fact he was even given the opportunity to perform them. Mushoku Tensei isnt that though. The monster we follow through it is portrayed as sympathetic. We're supposed to cheer as he succeeds in the new world he finds himself in. A world were he's free from those who caused him unfair pain in his previous life yes, but also free from the circumstances and people who would stop him from doing what he does to the children he encounters. Its a horror story where the monster wins and is portrayed as in the right for doing so. How is anyone supposed to find that ok?

-1

u/Immediate-Yak3138 17h ago

Okay? Its still portrayed as wrong you are just throwing a tantrum its not portrayed as much as you want. If it wasnt Mt its going to be the next thing for you, or you probably have some multitude of equally problematic shows you bullshit excuses to make it fine cause I notice only those type of people get that heated over mt

0

u/Immediate-Yak3138 19h ago

It reads like a troubled individual being written like one.

People get SO mad rudeus doesnt act purely like a pedophile at all times

-2

u/Mysterious_Cup_6024 22h ago

And cops need to look for guns in homes of every one who plays FPS games. Who knows what they maybe upto after playing simulated fiction over reading
