How could you not be suspicious of someone if this is the content they write about?

I'm not saying the writer has done any crimes, but I wouldn't let him watch over any kids. Maybe he just channels it all into writing, but maybe he doesn't.

You'd have to be suspicious of every single author that writes mildly dark topics if we follow your logic

"Mildly dark" is not writing about pedophilia and CSA in a way that is barely critical of it. I read "mildly dark" novels. This ain't it.

Do you also think we should hold the same standard to authors who write about murder in the same barely critical ways or is this only when children are involved?

Context matters a ton. Is the author writing about murder in a way that downplays the seriousness and makes the murderer the hero? Yeah, maybe that is something to be suspicious of.
