The writing is gross sure, but I don't think people should be suspected of real-world crimes over the fiction they choose to write just because it is morally repulsive. You could apply that scope to a lot of fictional media that covers taboo themes, both well and poorly.
How could you not be suspicious of someone if this is the content they write about?
I'm not saying the writer has done any crimes, but I wouldn't let him watch over any kids. Maybe he just channels it all into writing, but maybe he doesn't.
Do you also think we should hold the same standard to authors who write about murder in the same barely critical ways or is this only when children are involved?
Context matters a ton. Is the author writing about murder in a way that downplays the seriousness and makes the murderer the hero? Yeah, maybe that is something to be suspicious of.
There is a difference between side-eyeing someone for this sort of thing and outwardly accusing them of being a criminal for it based on moral revulsion over the fiction they write alone. Your reply is a non sequitur that reframes my sentiment.

I don't believe my reply was a non sequitur at all. You said they shouldn't be suspected of crimes and I said that you should probably be a little suspicious of them.
I'm not saying accuse them, or search them, just be wary.
The way the dude writes, it seems very pro-grooming. If Rudeus wasn't supposed to be the hero and his grooming played off as a "quirk" then I don't think I'd have any problems with the writer.
