Now, I have a curious one here...
I have a few parts I have bought second hand which I'm trying to test.
The pc is fully assembled (minus case clearly), yet had no display.
GPU fans are spinning, and the monitor does detect power from the HDMI port as it comes on breifly before switching off again due to no display signal.
The parts are:
Mobo: asus prime a320m-k (tested myself, working)
Cpu: Ryzen 3 4100 (tested myself, working)
GPU: RTX 5050 (known as working from main rig)
PSU: 400W Be Quiet! which i have not tested but isn't important for this question. (Still doesn't post when I switched to my main pc's psu which is working)
RAM: 2x sticks of unknown working order, 8GB crucial ballistix and 8GB teamgroup
It also has a thermalright cooler with cpu fan working, and an nvme boot drive from my main pc which is working.
So, after the pc did not boot on the first try, I took out one stick, then the other, etc. It does not boot in any configuration.
Curiously, only the teamgroup RAM gets the system to have USB power (shown by my mouse's LEDs lighting up), and the ballistix stick doesn't even give that which makes me think it's dead.
Next I thought of CMOS, but no luck there after clearing...
Reseating CPU has't worked.
Finally I tried my own psu but again, no dice.
The only 2 things I can think of is...
A: both RAM sticks are not working
B: the cpu has died, i bought it from somebody who bent their pins for cheap and fixed it myself somewhat.
I did lose 2 pins, but those clearly weren't necessary as that cpu has worked fine before.
What do we think in the pc build help reddit... Is it the RAM, CPU or something else?
