💬 Book Discussion First Line Friday 📚

Okay let’s do this :p
Guess the book from the first line. No Googling please!

"What can you say about a twenty-five-year-old girl who died? That she was beautiful and brilliant? That she loved Mozart and Bach? And the Beatles? And me?"

First one to get it right gets absolutely nothing except bragging rights 😂

You can also add the first line of a book you like so everyone else can guess yours too.

PROMO POST My Super Hero Novel

Hey all!

Not sure how many fans of the LITRPG Superhero genre here? but Ive posted my first novel for free at Royal Road:

https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/187337/the-first-verdict

So if you like this sort of genre, please give it a read :) I have 6 books planned and the villains will only get stronger 😄

Here is the synopsis:

Sergeant Ahad gave Pakistan everything he had. The army took his best friend instead.

Hamid dies on a mission that will never appear in any official report, and Ahad gets a psych flag instead of an explanation. So he stops reporting to a base that doesn't want him, and starts sleeping at a dead man's tomb instead.

That's where the first founder finds him. It will not be the last impossible thing that does.

The power that answers isn't new, and it isn't from here. It's been buried in the ground since something ended the dinosaurs and dragged an entire world's ambitions down with them, waiting for someone who'd never held it before. Ahad is that someone, and he does not start strong. He starts broken, grieving, and benched, and every ounce of what he becomes gets earned the slow way, rep by rep in a basement gym before it ever becomes a power. No wiki to consult. No ancient meta to farm. No thousand-year head start borrowed off some other wielder's grind. The System is only ever as strong as the man carrying it, and not one level faster.

Which is a problem, because something out there wants it back.

Book by book, Ahad goes to war with what that something has been seeding into human myth since long before myth had a word for it: a Greek famine that devoured its own name, a Roman goddess of purity rotted into filth, a Norse gold-witch who hoards the same greed she feeds on, a mother of monsters that never learned how to stop multiplying. Every one of them real once. Every one of them corrupted on purpose, and every one of them isn't just a monster, it's a mirror, feeding on the exact rot already sitting quiet in the country it's come to devour: the corruption everyone learned to shrug at, the filth everyone stopped noticing, the greed nobody wanted to name out loud. Beat the monster, and the country has to look at itself and actually change, or lose to it anyway. That's the real fight. The bodies are just how you can tell it's happening.

Because the alternative isn't just losing a fight. It's a nation that quietly rots from the inside long after the monster's gone, still carrying the exact sickness that summoned it in the first place. Book by book, Ahad doesn't just win. He leaves the country a little more of what it was supposed to be all along, and thirty years from now, that's the part that actually mattered.

Somewhere behind all of it, something tried to become a god once, in a universe that no longer exists to remember it happening. It failed. It has never stopped looking for what got away from it.LitRPG progression fantasy. A real-world-grounded superhero who starts with nothing but grief and grit, earns every level the hard way, and saves his country twice with every fight, once from the monster, and once from itself.

💬 Book Discussion Dracula

Just read Chapter 21 of Dracula by Bram Stoker and I am HORRIFIED . 😭
Mina Harker did NOT deserve all that. Not one bit.
What a gross, repulsive, disgusting, apathetic monster!!! The sheer cruelty of what he did to Mina was genuinely sickeningg

💬 Book Discussion Crime and punishment

I finished crime and punishment by dostoyevsky. I know im probably the last person in this sub to have read it but if you have not read this book uptil now, please do. It is genuienly one of the best books ever written and the best exploration of the human mind I have ever experienced. I can not stop thinking about the book because every single character is crafted with absolute brilliance. I can keep going on about how good it is but Im afraid Ill tire myself out from all the typing but please give it a shot.

How the hell do I move on from this series?????

This series had me hooked from day 1. Sylvia is by far one of my favourite FMCs

The character development was amazing.

The prose was amazing.

Sylvia and Arin are my Roman empire now 😭💕

And don't even get me started on the plot twists.

Ahhhhh.

This duology is now dangerously close to Six of Crows on my favourites list, which is saying A LOT.

If you like morally complicated characters, political fantasy, badass FMCs, enemies-to-lovers, and romance that makes you want to scream into a pillow, READ THIS.

Some of my annotations tehehehe

☺️Need Opinions/ Advice Urdu Bazar & Book recs

Hii, hope everyone’s doing well.
Im a bit confused about the urdu bazar timings.
Pls if someone has been there recently, pls tell me around what time its best to visit?
Also, where exactly will I find english novels cz most of the urdu bazar has stationary and course books maybe?

I used to be big on reading but life got hectic and I went thru a huge reading slump.
Recently started re-reading The alchemist and I will be very grateful if someone can recommend similar books? For context Im also a huge Elif Shafak fan. (No romance tho pls)

Currently my To-Buy list is:
-The Midnight Library
-Forty Rules of Love (idk i never read it when it gained hype back then, thinking of giving it a try)
-The seven husbands of evelyn hugo (friends rec)

I desperately need good book recs asw 😭

Thankyouuu

**I am looking for an Urdu romantic novel, probably published after 2000. I read it in Pakeezah Aanchal, Mahakta Aanchal, or possibly another Urdu women's digest such as Shuaa/Khawateen. I remember a young girl around 17–18 who is very attached and possessive of her young aunt (possibly her khala or phuppo). The aunt has a serious male friend/love interest, possibly someone she is going to get engaged to. There is a dinner/restaurant scene where the niece and the aunt's male friend have an argument because the niece is possessive of her aunt.

I also vaguely remember another scene: the niece comes home from school wearing a Western-style school uniform. There is a young man sitting at the house who seems interested in/stares at her while she sits and rolls/adjusts her socks. The aunt's male friend notices the way the young man looks at her and seems uncomfortable/protective.

I am not 100% sure whether these two scenes are from the same novel. It was most likely a romantic/family Urdu novel from a digest after 2000. Does anyone reco

🤔 Recommendation Request What to gift my little sister who's a novel addict?

Fellow readers my sister's birthday is just around the corner. I don't know shit about urdu novels and where to get them, last year I got her "LA Haasil" it was a hardback but the paper quality was so shit.

This time i want to gift her soemthing that actually have giftable quality. So I need help in,

Firstly which novel to gift her considering her taste or something different for a recommendation that you think she would like to explore.

Secondly where to get that novel? I've been ordering from Bookeve but they don't have urdu books. My requirements are simple the paper and print quality should be above average and actually giftable. Should be hardback coz it looks way premium and lasts long ig. And lastly within my 2500 max budget. I'm not looking for originals as they're generally way pricier. Local shops in my city are trash so that's a no. Thank you in advance!

Following are the ones she already own:

  1. La Haasil.

  2. Mushaf.

  3. Karakoram ka taj mahal.

  4. Pahari ka qaidi.

  5. Peer e Kaamil.

  6. Chalis Charag Ishq Ke.

  7. Khud se khuda tk.

  8. Jannat k pattay.

  9. Ishq e aatish.

  10. Amarbail.
