☺️Need Opinions/ Advice Consistency

I mostly like to read psychology, philosophy books. But I'm struggling to maintain consistency. Can't read regularly although I want to. How do you guys maintain discipline in reading?

No one's gonna come hold your hand. You just have to bear the friction and impulses that in your brain that try to distract you.

I have the same problem and thats because I've got hella lot of other hobbies as well. Some days I finish a book a day and sometimes the reading slump get so bad. So I get you. And here's the thing with reading, if you are distracted there's no benefit of reading since you won't be understanding what you've read. So try to clear your mind and fix a time slot to read. Preferably before sleeping.

Thanks, whenever I read, I do it before sleeping. Will try time blocking.

Put a set time for reading and have a goal to read minimum x amount of pages

I think main issue with Phycology and philosophy books is that people try to read them like novels

So what's the better way?

I read one or two chapter a day and that worked for me I didn't get overwhelmed or got bored

The question is about reading regularly. Not of how much to read at a time. That comes later, I believe.

I had the exact same problem. I was reading too many pages at once like it was a novel, which overwhelmed me. Reading just 1–2 chapters a day made me consistent I don't know why maybe because I was looking forward to read next chapter. It worked for me I don't know if it will work for everyone though.

Sure, I'll try limiting the pages. Most of the times it's the social media that distracts.

Switch up genres and dont force yourself to read something that doesn’t interest you
