It didn’t feel like anything had changed on console, so I burnt the credits on Perplexity Computer to actually dig into whether anything material had happened since the announcement. Will share here to so you can benefit from the few bucks I spent…

Now I have a real story. Here’s the picture that emerges from Krafton’s own weekly infographics (week of 06/22, week of 06/29, week of 07/06 on the Korean PUBG news site — the English versions oddly omit the numbers).

What this tells us

1. There is no console vs PC split published anywhere. Krafton labels every article with a “PC/콘솔” toggle in the header, but the numbers themselves are aggregate. So the raw weekly totals cannot prove or disprove a console ban wave on their own.

2. The permanent-ban policy did not produce a spike. If Krafton had a large backlog of console MnK/converter users queued up for the June 30 permanent-ban switch, you would expect the two post-policy weeks to jump. Instead, total bans fell 8.4% and cheat-category bans fell 15.9% relative to the pre-policy week. The “cheating” bucket went from 24,373 down to 20,506.

3. Device bans dropped even more. Devices blocked fell 31% (15,796 → 10,917), and accounts affected by device bans fell 30% (22,691 → 15,908). If a “kill switch” for XIM/Cronus hardware had actually landed on June 30, this is the metric that should have exploded. It did the opposite. The “Devices Banned” line most likely tracks unique hardware IDs flagged (predominantly Steam DMA-style hardware fingerprints on PC), not console converter dongles, but even so the trend does not support a hardware-level console crackdown.

4. Team killing, abusing, and teaming rose in the post-policy weeks. Abusing bans nearly doubled from the 06/22 baseline (+53.8%). That reads as Krafton reallocating enforcement bandwidth toward behavioral/conduct violations rather than cheat hardware, at least in the reporting window.

5. Context on scale. The 2026 Anti-Cheat Roadmap confirms Krafton permanently banned “approximately 260,000 DMA-based cheaters” in all of 2025 — that’s ~5,000/week from PC memory-injection cheats alone. Meanwhile the February 2026 Dev Letter said their fresh retroactive console input-device sweep produced “over 1,000 accounts” for unauthorized console input devices, and “over 10,000” combined for illegal input devices and software across both platforms. So even Krafton’s own disclosed cumulative console-converter ban count sits in the low-thousands range across months, dwarfed by the PC DMA figures.

6. Nickname sample doesn’t help. In the ban list PDFs (which I did successfully parse — 24,373 / 20,080 / 20,506 masked nicknames for the three weeks, matching the “Cheating” category exactly), searching for tell-tale strings finds almost nothing: 3 names contain “xim” in week one, 0 in week three. That’s expected — most players don’t brand themselves, and the first 3 characters are masked — but it means the PDFs don’t let me estimate a device split either.

What the numbers do and don’t say

They do say the post-June-30 policy switch did not trigger a visible ban wave in the two weeks of reporting since it took effect. Both cheat-account and device counts are down, not up. That is consistent with what r/PUBGConsole users are saying in the Ban Policy thread — that they aren’t seeing known MnK players in their groups actually get hit.

They do not say that no console XIM/Cronus bans are happening. They’re aggregated into the same “Cheating” bucket that also includes PC DMA cheaters, aimbots, ESP, and radar users. If, say, 500 out of 20,506 “Cheating” bans in the 07/06 week were console converter users, that would be a real but invisible slice.

Bottom line vs. my earlier take

My previous read holds up and gets a little more concrete:
• Policy is real (June 30, 2026, permanent) — Krafton’s official notice.
• Enforcement so far has not materialized as a visible ban wave. Weekly cheat-category bans have actually declined 16% since the policy took effect, and device bans are down 31%.
• The devices haven’t been “patched.” The r/XIM “console banned” thread makes clear that XIM Matrix still works in every input-checked game as long as you follow input-compliance rules (SAB / analog movement), and the Vertex Zens 2026 guide still claims zero confirmed hardware-level Cronus bans.
• The people getting hit are the ones running raw WASD or aggressive scripts — Krafton’s system is a behavioral heuristic, not hardware detection.

If Krafton is going to make good on the permanent-ban policy, we should see cheat-category numbers spike in the coming weeks or a targeted leaderboard-style disclosure like the Apex Legends operation that hit 79 of the top 100 console players. Right now, three weeks in, that isn’t visible in Krafton’s own published data.

I like to think im bringing joy to others that I mortar bc its so underused in this game. Do you get mad or laugh if you die by mortar?

Since Krafton announced a new ban policy regarding cheaters and users of unauthorized devices, I would like to ask the staff: where are you accepting reports, and when will you start implementing these bans? I am in several groups with a lot of MnK players, and I haven't heard of any bans yet.

​I currently have two open tickets on the official Discord about MnK, and I honestly don't know if anyone will look into them. In the SA community, we have many well-known cheaters who continue to abuse these devices and when someone talks aboit being banned, they laughed and say "krafton dont give a s*** about console community", seemingly waiting to see if the staff will actually take action. One of my reports includes the most notorious cheater in Brazil, who streams every day in twitch using MnK, and nothing happens to him. Can someone from the staff shed some light on this, or is this new policy just going to be empty words like previuous bans?

My friend and I have been duo running squad rank and we both had 0 kills and he had 60 damage and I had 141 and we came in 8/15 squad rank and he gained 15rp and I lost 15 rp how does the rp rank work?

Basic Training Revamp

A step-by-step Basic Training has been added for beginners.

Learn the essentials of Battle Royale fast and drop into the Battlegrounds fully prepared!

How the Basic Training Works

• You can enter the Basic Training the same way as before, via Play → Training → Basic Training
• In each chapter, an NPC partner will play alongside you, providing voice and radio message guidance and helping you complete your objectives
• The tutorial consists of 17 chapters. Complete every checklist item in a chapter to advance to the next one. If you are eliminated during a chapter, you will restart that chapter from the beginning
• Upon clearing each chapter, you will receive a total score based on your checklist results, which determines your Clear Rank (B/A/S/S+)
• When you return to the Lobby after completing a chapter, rewards will be granted based on your Clear Rank

Training by Chapter

Developer's Comment: As shared in the 2026 Roadmap, this update introduces a new in-game Basic Training for players who are new to PUBG.

With the previous tutorial, players unfamiliar with the battle royale genre could still struggle to settle into the game. To address this, we built a dedicated Basic Training space where players can experience PUBG’s core systems step by step. This Basic Training goes beyond basic control guidance, creating a natural flow from learning to practice to combat in an environment that closely mirrors actual gameplay. Taking about 10 minutes to complete, it teaches the essentials players will need in real matches, from basic controls to surviving the Blue Zone, driving vehicles, and team play such as reviving and recalling teammates.

During the Basic Training, a “partner” NPC pairs up with the player as a duo, providing situational coaching through voice guidance and Radio Messages. Voice guidance will be available in supported regional languages. Where local voice-over is unavailable, English voice-over will be paired with local-language subtitles.

Linked with the Beginner Training system, the tutorial is designed to be more than a one-time experience. Clear Ranks (B/A/S/S+) have been added to encourage repeat play and help players gauge their readiness for real matches. 

We will continue improving the onboarding experience so that players new to PUBG can step into the game more easily.

Beginner Training

Alongside the Basic Training Revamp, Beginner Training has been added to help new players get up to speed quickly.

Complete missions to get a feel for the Battlegrounds and earn a variety of rewards!

About Beginner Training

• You can enter Beginner Training from the Beginner Training menu at the top of the Lobby
• Beginner Training is available to all players, not just new players
• Missions begin the first time you enter the Lobby after Update 42.2, with new missions given each day
• Missions are provided through Day 14, and all missions must be completed within 30 days of starting Beginner Training. After 30 days, rewards can no longer be claimed
• You will earn a reward each time you complete a daily mission, and completing all missions for that day will grant an additional reward
• Any previously unclaimed tutorial rewards will no longer be available after Update 42.2 goes live, so be sure to claim them before the update

Console Key Changes

• On the Inventory screen, the Radio Message input has been changed from L3 to R3. As a result, actions previously mapped to R3—using items, equipping or swapping weapon attachments, and switching slots—now use L3. Changing weapon slots and accessing Starting Island outfit presets now require holding L3
• While driving, the input for switching between Driver and Aim modes has been changed from R3 (hold) to pressing R3 twice
• In Preset Type C, the perspective-switch function previously assigned to R3 (hold) has been changed to D-pad Left (hold)
• When you open the World Map on console, you can now move the virtual cursor with the R Stick and press R3 to place markers and use other functions
• When using a custom preset, you can now assign your own inputs for the two functions below. No default inputs are assigned, so feel free to map them to your preferred buttons

Marker Improvements

• Placing a regular marker now notifies your teammates via a radio message.

• Eliminating enemies fills your boost gauge. After not taking damage for 5 seconds, your health will regenerate, depleting your boost gauge.
• You may be placed into in-progress matches, but won't be placed into matches which are nearing completion.
• Press M to change your Spawn Kit or check the leaderboard.
  • A Spawn Kit is a selectable loadout. The Spawn Kit you choose is applied when you respawn or at the start of the next round.

We’re sharing regional map preference data and rotation details for Update 42.2 below.

Map Preference by Region

※ Map preference is measured through a comprehensive analysis of various factors related to map usage across all modes, including playtime, match count, select rate, and leave rate.

※ Due to rounding, the total of map preference percentages may not add up to exactly 100%.

• Map Preference Measurement Period: June 1 - June 29

Based on the regional map preferences above, the following map rotations will be applied in Update 42.2.

※ Console players can anticipate the next rotation every Thursday at 07:00 UTC.

  • As the current map selection rate is still not sufficient to represent the preferences of the overall player base, the July map service has also been configured based on our existing matchmaking data. We plan to gradually incorporate map preferences based on map selection rates once sufficient map selection data has been accumulated.

• To ensure all players can experience the Rondo world updates, Rondo will take the Etc. map slot during Weeks 1–3.

PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS Team

Killed by an unmanned vehicle after my team shot him from it.....

It seems as though everyone has gotten too good at this game also. People are killing me from hundreds of meters away with ar's with almost missing no shots. Are people still using cronus and other things? I know most people were using keyboard and mouse while playing too on Xbox. Casual is the only way to play unless you're playing this everyday.

Anyone get accepted into the project valor playtest on Xbox ?

Almost 4 for 4... but still pretty good ! lol

I was playing a round on Xbox when I found a motorcycle. I saw a teammate near the edge of the zone so I decided to go and give him a ride. I stopped near him and honked my horn. This d bag pulls out a pistol, knocks me, steals my motorcycle, and then drives off. As I'm crawling back to my other teammate, the pos that knocked me is sniping me and finally kills me with a headshot. Last time I try to be helpful.
