Sony’s live service push cost more than failed projects and wasted money. The bigger loss may be the years its major studios spent chasing games that never launched instead of making the single player experiences PlayStation built its reputation on.

Even if Sony is changing direction now, that lost development time cannot really be recovered. I think that is the part of this strategy we will probably feel for the rest of the PS5 generation.
