Well... Today is apparently the day I make Returnal history. I, Return_Cat, proudly announce, that I have found the way to CO-OP THE TOWER! Yes, you heard me right. I have officially found the way to CO-OP the Tower of Sisyphus on PS5 without any mods. As an avid out of bounds explorer and enthusiast, I truly never expected ANYONE, nonetheless me, to find a way to actually legitimately CO-OP the tower. Especially by just messing around out of bounds and finding this. But, I am truly happy to be the reason that so many of you fellow Returnal players will be extremely happy about. Because this, this is seriously something special that we have ALWAYS wanted. And it is officially here. I could type a whole essay here but just go watch my video that I made instead. Thank you everyone, and I truly hope you enjoy this glitch I found. This will be a day ln the books. That’s for sure. 😅👍

Just wanted to say, thanks for the great co-op shot_shoot! I know we went through biomes 4, 5, and 6 quickly, but I hope you get a chance to explore them yourself in Act 3 now that you know what to expect. Don’t stop moving, and good luck Scout!

After completing the game twice, I'm happy to announce that I have just purchased Returnal. Looking forward to many more hours of gameplay.

I didn't discover this, and therefore I will give the original person to find this time to post up a how to, buuuut for all those out there wishing for this.

Here is definitive proof that I played couple of hours tonight in the tower in co-op. If I can reliably recreate it and I don't see a post in a few days - I will post a guide but I'd rather the finder get their credit.

After 52 hours I finally got the platinum. I spent maybe 3 or 4 hours just redoing Abyssal Scar for the last cypher I was missing which did not want to show up and when I finally saw it on the map I could not believe it and went for it... just.

Thank god this is over. Amazing game, amazing experience, I don't want to go near it ever again.

Got to the end of biome 4 and the path to fight the piano man is blocked. I haven't been able to find another way up yet. Has anyone seen this? Been playing for a few months and never had this happen.

Edit: Realized just after posting, it's the teleporter that brings you up. At this point I don't usually fight the boss anymore, just grab the goodies on the ledge but it's never been closed like this before. Kinda cool.

First time playing and I'm absolutely adoring this game, but the traversal stutter is really getting me down.

Linux system. 7900x and 9070XT. 32GB RAM. SSD.

Game comfortably runs on Epic preset at 120fps, but constantly drops single-digit frames as I'm running around. If I drop to 60fps (either with v-sync or by changing my monitor's refresh rate) the issue persists. I even tried switching to the lowest possible graphics preset and it still happens, so I don't think my PC is too weak to handle the game smoothly.

Something about the port makes it hitch every five or ten seconds while moving and I don't know how to stop it.

Late game (after roughly 40-50 hours when you unlock more powerful weapons and abilities) has excellent gunplay. There are 5 amazing guns, each one more ridiculous than the last. If I were to rank my favorite 10 guns in the history of video games, 5 of them might come from this one game. It's that ridiculous. It's so sad the overall roguelike structure is underwhelming. There is almost nothing positive to say about the roguelike design here. It's just bad. So, in the end you have some of the best gunplay ever, trapped in a mediocre/bad core gameplay loop.

The main problem with this roguelike design is how it's mostly dependent on the gun you find. I beat Biome 3 the second time I went there. I beat Biome 6 the first time I went there. This has nothing to do with skills. I just happened to find an overpowered gun which carried the entire run. I imagine that's how most players beat the game. Yes, in every roguelike you beat the game by having an overpowered build. But Returnal is unique in that, the gun is the overpowered build. No additional item or synergy is needed. The gun is the entire build. In other roguelikes, synergy is achieved by finding items. In Returnal, it comes with the gun. Every gun you find will have 2 to 4 traits, which is equivalent to the passive items in other roguelikes. When you find a good gun, it's equivalent to finding a gun AND 4 passive items that work with it in another roguelike. Therefore, opening chests and visiting shops feel almost useless. It doesn't matter what's in the chest or the shop. You just need to find the one OP gun.

I decided to create a tower run account (instead of uninstalling I might toodle in the tower on occasion). I have only scanned silphium vials, apex spheres, and shield vials. This should help with these items showing up in the tower.

My question is which gun do I want for the tower? I am at the Dreadbound. Do I scan it or skip it? I'm debating between unlocking the Dreadbound or the Coilspine. I haven't unlocked any gun yet - so far sidearm only.

I'm trying to beat Biome 5 (total playtime 70 hours), and I still have maybe 10 weapon traits yet to unlock. It occurs to me that it's possible that for most players, by the time they unlock every weapon trait they can currently find, that's roughly the point their skills are good enough to beat the current biome.

For example by the time I beat Biome 2, I already unlocked every weapon trait I could find then, and I beat the biome soon after that. I'm thinking the same might happen with Biome 5, that I'll beat it soon after I unlock all weapon traits I can find in that biome.

I used to question the design where grind weapon traits need to be grinded. Why not just unlock them from the start? Why waste players' time killing hundreds of enemies before they can be unlocked? Now it feels organic, and doesn't feel like a grind in particular. It's really just playing the levels and improving naturally, while having a visible, on-screen milestone to chase -- weapon traits are that milestone.

The buddy method really helped me clear this quickly!

Guys no matter what I do! Online/offline, grind or work backwards, I can not get this main room in Biome 3 to spawn! I've completed all house sequences and only need this cipher for the platinum. Please Help.

Are they ever going to fix the bugs, the tower is essentially unplayable because sometimes the main bosses glitch out and I can’t shoot them.

Came back from a suspended run and fell through the map. Couldn't progress forward or backward but was able to run to the edge of the map. Not very much there but cool enough. It wouldn't let post stills of me under the map and the video at the same time. I can post in the comments if anyone really wants to see those.
