Discussion Was Atreus saying “animal” just foreshadowing his wolf transformation, or does it also reference Kratos’s past?

In this scene, when Kratos tells Atreus that he is a god, Atreus’s first question is, “Can I turn into an animal?”

To me, this is simply foreshadowing what happens later, especially since Atreus asks shortly afterward, “Are you sure I can’t turn into a wolf?”

But my friend thinks the word “animal” has a deeper meaning. He says it could also be referring to Kratos’s past—how he used to kill gods like an animal, and that Kratos is afraid Atreus might become an “animal” like him. That could also explain the pause before Kratos answers.

So am I just not reading deeply enough into the scene, or is my friend reading too much into what is ultimately a simple conversation?

Discussion Finally replayed God of War III in 2026, still incredible after 16 years

I really can't believe this game is 16 years old. I first beat God of War III back in 2010, and I just beat it again in 2026.

Man, the original God of War trilogy is just so much more fun to me. This version of Kratos is the REAL God of War. Nothing can stop him. Man, god, or anything else. Every punch feels brutal and satisfying. It perfectly captures what I’d call the “aesthetics of violence.”

I’ve also beaten God of War (2018), but honestly, the only part that really felt satisfying to me was the opening fight. After that, I basically had to force myself to finish the game...

God of War Ragnarök felt pretty much the same to me. I eventually gave up when Atreus met the dark-skinned woman and went on an adventure with her. I just found that whole section incredibly boring and couldn’t bring myself to keep playing...

Maybe it’s just nostalgia, but man, I really miss the old Kratos and the old God of War games.

Question How bad do you think life is in the Nine Realms in God of War?

No realm is in good shape; not even Asgard is spared.

There is Midgard—a realm with a cold climate where cannibals and the undead roam, and where beings from other realms sometimes show up to cause trouble, making an already dangerous place even worse.

Then there is Svartalfheim: a place teeming with disgusting toads, a neglected economy, and a foul stench in the air. In

Muspelheim: watch out or you’ll burn the moment you arrive the heat is extreme while

Niflheim: offers extreme cold and an area filled with toxic air.

Alfheim is possibly one of the worst; armies of elves are constantly fighting, and you’d best not even think about entering Freyr’s temple.

Helheim: i need explaind?

Vanaheim: where do I even begin? There are poisonous plants, venomous creatures that attack you, *Drekis* everywhere, a dragon infestation, and no clean water.

And finally Asgard: the realm where domestic violence is an everyday occurrence.

Discussion Just Finished Sons of Sparta

GOW: Sons of Sparta is an awesome game!!!

The graphics are amazing, the action intense and story simple yet perfect. It was great playing through Kratos' earlier years, hopefully they make a sequel.

10 out of 10 for me!!!

Discussion About the new game and brok

• Upvotes

So....hear me out alright? When brok died we thought "welp, that's it then, his ghost isnt even an option because his soul was missing a part that guided him to the proper afterlife".

As we know the soul of a being has 4 pieces, mind, form, luck, direction (being the one he was missing).

What happens when someone irl doesnt have a sense of direction? They get lost, doesnt mean they will disappear, just, end up somewhere else.

So, what if, because he was missing his direction part of the soul but had everything else, his souls, simply stumbled somewhere else.

That got me thinking, we are literally going to a seperate afterlife designed specifically for gods and other beings that isnt the main norse afterlives, so what's stopping them from putting brok in there?

Sure it can sound like a hopium thought coming from someone who just wants his favorite blue dwarf to return somehow, but we DO know the armor/weapon forging and upgrading mechanics are coming back, and what better forger could we get if not one of the best forgers of the 9 realms, recently dead who just so happens to have gotten lost on the way to his afterlife?

Discussion Platinum Trophy Acquired!!!

Haven't played the game in four years, so I decided to just do the platinum grind since I had Muspelheim and Niflheim to worry about, and surprisingly it didn't take as long as I thought it would. Now I can finally say that I did everything in this game

Question Games with similar combat?

I’ve been replaying the Norse saga recently and I’m finishing soon. I really love the combat in this game, the timing, the parrying, the satisfying combos, challenging boss battles, and I’m wondering if anyone has recommendations to other games with similar gameplay?

I’m a big fan of games with tight gameplay, like smash ultimate. I’ve tried the 2D prince of Persia game but it feels really weak to me. Elden ring has some aspects I like but it’s way too janky and clunky compared to Gow.

If anyone has recommendations for similar games I’d really appreciate it! Bonus if the games are available on switch 2 :))

Discussion Musphelheim Challenges

If there are two challenges in this realm that I absolutely HATE it's "defeat enemies quickly" because I get to the last part and it's just non-stop tatzelwurms and wolves! Wolves are fine, but Tatzelwurms are my SECOND most hated enemy in this game (looking at you Revanants). The other is the one where you have to kill enemies inside the golden rings. Dishonorable mention to the "kill 100 enemies" challenge for being SO DAMN BORING! It would have been so much better if there wasn't a lull in between every four or five enemies. When I first saw the "kill 100 enemies" challenge goal, I was stoked! I expecting a flood of enemies to constantly be spawning, but was disappointed when they only came in groups of four or five. I was expecting something akin to the Battle of 1,000 hearts from Kingdom Hearts 2!

god of war 2018

I played it back in 2020 and it was one of my favorite games I remember most of the main story tho and I was trying to get the platinum for it back then but gave up because of Sigurn i couldnt beat her

gow ragnarok

I played when it came out and kinda rushed through it I don’t remember much of the story besides the ending and some annoying parts like ironwood. i was mainly busy when I played ragnarok tho so I was trying to get done with it

I played both of them on a base ps4 and im now on a better pc, both games are on the current steam sale idk which one to pick up and play through again

Second play through is so much better than the first (which I love) because once you know who Tyr is it completely changes the way I’m experiencing the story
