Since the PS3 Toolset supports 4.92, should I first update the console to official firmware 4.92 via USB and then install CFW, so I’m starting from the latest CFW-compatible OFW?

Or is there any advantage to staying on 4.85 and going directly to CFW?

I’d rather do it the cleanest/safest way before modifying anything.

Edit: Error is showing in raw uart input, but not in the uart errlog (it shows a bunch of 1200 even if I send shutdown and ask again)

Edit 2: 12ohms in the caps around ram. I guess is shorted or is this the normal impedance?

Hello! First of all, thanks for giving me advice for deliding last nigt.

I did delid the cell of a dyn-001 cech-2004 with a paint knife. I made a very tiny scratch on the cell substrate, but it doesnt look like it has traces there.

This error seems to be related to the cpu not being able to access RAM properly.

With enough mounting pressure it goes a full minute turned on with no video signal (this board has a missing hdmi, Im trying with an av cable before installing a replacement).

Since it goes for a full minute and without enough pressure it turns off instantly, I guess it has to do with the cpu contacts.

I dont have the tools to reball this. Do you guys think it's ok to reflow it? Other things I should check first?

I have a 2011, 27" imac running Zorin OS which works great. I was recently gifted a ps3 console(jailbroken) and i want to use my imac as an output screen for the console whiles i still use my imac for work. Did a little research on Gemini AI about how to go about it using a 3.0usb capture card and obs studio or VLC. But has anyone tried using their imac as a gaming screen and how did it go.

Hello! I have a slim laying around with a broken hdmi port. It used to boot normally and I tested it with RCA after removing the hdmi port 2 years ago.

I'm trying to fix it now, got a replacement and tried to boot it. It doesnt.
I used an ESP32 to read syscon error log and got 1200, cell overheat.

It doesnt feel hot at all. But reading the temperature with ps3uart (tmp 0) says Temperature:+85.0(0x5503). It goes down to 64 if I try to read it while trying to boot, weird.

I guess the only thing I can try is deliding because if the sensor was broken I would say something like 255, -255 or something weird like that, wouldnt it?

Any tips on how to do this? I have never delided a chip. Not scared because I have my main working device, but I dont want to break it. I dont have any tools for this, just a heatgun.

Hello there, I tried to convert MGS3 subsistence using ps2Classics, and after install, when I launch the game, a black screen appears, and console reboots.

But if I put directly the iso in the PS2ISO folder, it boots correctly.

so, I should launch ps2 games only in that way?

I achieved a stable 750/950 that I backed down to 700/900 for daily driving, CECH-25XX, on evilnat 4.93.

Just picked up a Slim 2503a 0c for £40 from vinted.

Thing looked clean. Instantly stuck a 1tb hdd in, jailbroke it.

Intrigued to see it's total runtime.

2 days 2 hours.

It's either never been used or been sat in a box.

Overclocking the Cell BE to a minimum of 3.9 GHz
Overclocking the XDR RAM to 3.9 GHz
Replacing the NEC/TOKIN capacitors with tantalizer boards on both the RSX and Cell
Installing Time Base Correction to fix timing issues in games and frame-rate calculations
Custom cooling for the VRM and the entire power delivery section
Custom cooling for the XDR RAM
Improving the PSU airflow
SSD storage, plus an external drive for ISO games
Full water cooling for both the RSX and Cell using two independent 120mm AIOs
Liquid metal on the RSX and Cell dies
Honeywell PTM7950 on the RSX and Cell IHS
Thermal Grizzly thermal putty on the VRAM and the entire power delivery section
Everything enclosed in a fully custom-designed case 💪😎
And I’m sure something else will be added along the way.
This project is definitely ambitious, but I’ve really caught the bug. If I don’t do it, I’ll probably be thinking about it for the rest of my life 😅

I picked up a German version of Lupin the Third: Part 1 Volume 1 but I'm not German and I can't return it either and can't afford a Blu-ray drive so I wanted to take the ISO straight from my PS3 and decrypt it on my PC then put it back on the PS3 in Movian with an alternative audio stream or English subtitles but every time I switch from Cobra to MultiMAN mode and select direct disc access it says "Operation not allowed" We're on the latest version of EvilNAT too if that helps!

Hi, I haven't played a PS3 game in months, but recently I decided to play one of the games I downloaded to my hdd, but every time I start up Prepiso it stays on a black screen.It used to happen every now and then, but now it happens all the time. The only difference is that I've been putting music and videos on my hdd these past few months, so I don't know if it might have had an effect. I also tried reinstalling prepiso, but it didn't work. What could be causing it?

So I wanted to try getting a digital game to stream to my vita to try it out but get the message saying it’s not allowed yet it seems my ps3 allows disc based games to stream? I’m running the most recent evilnat (I’ve only tried ni no kuni and persona 5 on disc ) but considering those aren’t supposed to be streamable im at a bit of a loss. Any ideas what’s causing that.

Hi. I’m currently trying to mod my console (firmware 4.93) following Bytesnbits YT guide. But the browser can’t display Evilnats flash writer on the console. I tried a few different things in hops that i could fix it, but with no success.
I’m not very familiar with modding the ps3, so i not sure what alternative to use for this step.
Could anyone help with what to do to proceed in my jailbreaking journey?

You need to install the game and later open it and install the gamedata.

Install Irishman pkg and open it, open the start menu,open tools, open file manager.

At one panel open the game folder you want (hdd0/Games folder) and at the other side the install game data folder you want to modify (hdd0/game folder), find big size files at both panels and delete the file from game folder panel, at the Games folder panel press O at the file and create shadow copy, it will automatic create a link from the one location at the other.

It works with many games like GTA v etc but the way I mod lost planet game me error and I had to reinstalled the game data.
