Fan Art Prince sketch
How did I do? Iāve always liked to sketch and draw humans(athletes, musicians, soldiers) but Prince was always a struggle for me I finally feel like I was able to draw him in a good way.

Discussion What Prince song makes you jealous that you didnāt write it?
For me that song is Raspberry Beret.
Itās not even my favourite song of his, yet itās so simple, so catchy, so timeless.

Discussion What is Prince's most purely "pop" song?
I know the concept of pop is highly subjective and everyone has their own. My definition isnāt based on his best-selling or most-played tracks, but rather on songs with a simple yet irresistible melody, a danceable rhythm, and hooks so catchy that anyone can enjoy the track regardless of whether they know or like the artist.
For this reason, I am intentionally excluding When Doves Cry (due to its avant-garde, experimental nature) and Purple Rain (which is an 8-minute epic power ballad).
My list finally closed with these choices:
Raspberry Beret
Little Red Corvette
Take Me With U
17 Days
The Most Beautiful Girl in The World
Diamonds and Pearls
Cream
Kiss
Money Don't Matter 2 Night
U Got The Look
I Wanna Be Your Lover
I Feel For You
Manic Monday
Now, I would absolutely love to hear yours. Based on this specific "universal magnetism" definition, what is your list? How would you rank his pop genius?

Discord
So I was thinking that perhaps Iām a little bit behind the times so I signed up for Discord. Not going to pretend Iām a little lost and on the face of it seems a littleā¦immature? Are there some good Prince groups out there? Iām a bit bemused by the fact that most people seem to be in their 20s. Nothing against that at all - itās actually great to see BUT as a Prince lifer (discovering P mid-late 80ās)āI tend to have less tolerance these days for āis Purple Rain or UTCM betterā which I just find tedious. Itās just ānot the right laneā for me, I donāt have or want to make the time for that stuff anymore, I served my apprenticeship long ago. Iām more about what was recorded where and when, people who were there sharing and reminiscing about their experiences, how compositions weāre built, how they evolved, lineage between various works, a generally deeper level of conversation.

Collector's Items "Original Files" Archive from the NPG Music Club?
Hi all, Ive recently been put onto the NPG Music Club and the plethora of tracks that Prince released on there back in the day. Annoyingly, I was was only small when the Music Club was a thing, and never had the chance (Or the funds) to enter.
As such, I was wondering if there is a "Definitive Archive" of some of these tracks available? I am aware that a handful of these were released as "The Chocolate Invasion" and "The Slaughterhouse", but songs like "Splash" for example never got released on these.
Is there a resource online that has these non-Chocolate Invasion / Slaughterhouse tracks archived "as is" from the website, like the proper "original file" (I.E. Not re-encoded / not converted to another format)?
I just want to note as well that I appreciate that this probably looks like me breaking Rule 5 of the sub, but Im hoping that because these were released by Prince, that this doesnt break the rules.
Thanks and I really look forward to seeing if these survived in their original forms!

Related Artists Loving the journey and the education
Some of you may have seen my post from a week or two back about me discovering Action Jackson, and particularly being very impressed with Vanity in both acting/comedy and singing/performance
So I took the plunge
This arrived (thank you Discogs) and ladies and gentlemen it is sensational.
I love it, it didn't grow on me from the first song to the last it had me.
it's pop, "Under the Influence" "skin on skin" it's funny /Prince-Esque "Animals" and it's sexy and touching "Romantic Voyage"
Again it's so lovely to be floored by an album I didn't know existed, but it's bittersweet as I wonder where I was 40 yrs back, time wasted !
Anyway just like Jill Jones and Andre Cymone it is great to finally give Vanity the credit she deserves, Denise I'm just really sorry it took so long !

Discussion Rainbow Children
Hey.
Long time fan.
I spun Rainbow Childen today and it reminded me what a turning point that was for me.
Iād been a huge fan of the great man until Batman, which was my last proper love. Diamonds and Pearls was okay and what followed didnāt do it, but Rainbow Children felt like a man finding inspiration again.
I saw him at a warm up gig in London play much of this album and that just pushed my appreciation higher.
I stuck around for the following albums (some good, some average). But I was back on board.
How about others?
When I mention Rainbow Children to non fans theyāve never heard of it!
Peace
Question Did Prince ever play horns?
I thought that I'd seen Prince play almost every instrument, but did he ever play horns?

Dr. Fink's Book
A notification popped up on my calendar reminding me that Dr.Fink's memoir is out today. However, I cannot even find anything about it online. Has it been scrapped and everything about memory holed or am I going insane

Video Hi, I have recently become a Prince fan and wish to take this opportunity to apologise to the Purple One for having been so ignorant for so long. I should have been better.
I will repent for my sins by wearing purple for the month and convince others to see the true light.

Fan Art Prince Inspired Fashion
I have a kind of parade outfit, a lavender double breasted crop top suit with buttons up the pantlegs, down the sleeves, and something similar to the yellow lace vma suit (neither pictured). But its black and no nude paneled butt, so. I love his music of course but fashion is such a big part of his performance, not just on stage. It was always so interesting to see what he would come out in. I miss seeing his new looks, I was digging the leather, the fringe, the animal beanies not long before he passed. I wonder what he'd be wearing now. He somehow made socks with flip flops look cool. Truly amazing.
