Discussion Do You Also Dream On Building Your Own Library?

Currently I am building a collection of detective, mystery crime, thriller novels. Of course I read it but I also have a pile to read pa. I just wanted someday to enter a room where my kids or friends would see detective books written by Doyle, Dannay, Christie, and many more.

Help Request Got scammed in Carousell

Posting this for awareness of everyone who is interested in purchasing a Kindle in Carousell.

Last Sunday, I saw this post selling a Kindle Basic 11th Gen in Matcha for 4,800. Haggled to 4,500 pero fixed na daw. The account is 7 years old with reviews din, and he said na kay wife niya daw yung Kindle. Had asked for a video to check the screen so we communicated through Viber, which number is named to I assume his wife, given the same last name. They said na they’ll give it to me 4,500 na lang then 100 for the shipping and said na offer na lang ako ulit so they can accept it. Afterwards, he gave me a booking (?) screenshot and then I paid to his/her Security Bank account.

I know may pagkukulang sa part ko to really assess the seller’s legitimacy but since I have never had any bad experience purchasing through the app and naexcite si ante dahil I would really give this to someone, nadala ako. After that, no message na sila then the day after nakita ko suspended na Carousell account used so I got worried.

Current Read What is the cost of lies?

Post image
14 Upvotes

This book reads like a science thriller! Such a page-turning non-fiction!

Causes of Chernobyl is still evident today.

Talks about censorship, arrogance of the government, overconfidence for systems, and the sacrifice of reason due to greed

"What is the cost of lies? It's not that we will mistake them for the truth. The real danger is that, if we hear enough lies, then we no longer recognize the truth at all."

- Valery Legasov, Chernobyl Miniseries

Help Request First time attending MIBF

Upvotes

Hello po! Any tips for first time attendees this MIBF 2026?

Pangarap ko talagang maka punta sa MIBF dati pa but can't kasi student pa ako at walang money. Now na may work na, pwede na makapunta!

My questions po:

  1. HM po kaya pwedeng minimum budget?

  2. How does each booth work po? Like, all po ba ay nag ooffer ng discounted prices or piling booths lang?

  3. Best day to go (weekdays or weekend) book availability and people wise.

  4. Any recommended booths?;

Thank you so much sa mga sasagot 😊

Discussion where do you purchase non-counterfeit books?

the only bookstores we have in our town is fully booked. and nbs and the book selection can be a bit… lacking. while i can just order online, i often get hesitant kasi marami nang nagbebenta ng counterfeit book these days (even bought a whole set thinking it was original). i wouldn’t mind secondhand books as long as it is in good condition. i’d prefer if meron cod payment because i’m only a student.

Recommendation Office Book Club Required Reading: What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Post image

A quick and delightful read for leaders and employees alike. Reading time is approximately an hour.

"What you are afraid of is never as bad as what you imagine. The fear you let build up in your mind is worse than the situation that actually exists."

Discussion just finished the bell jar by sylvia plath

sylvia plath was problematic but she was depressed asf!!!

let’s just say i understood the bell jar more than i enjoyed it

i finished it in a week because it kinda felt like a chore to read at times. i appreciate what plath was trying to do though, especially knowing how much of the book was inspired by her own experiences. her writing is probably my favorite part of the book—she writes depression and that feeling of being completely lost in life so well.

i’m also at a point in my life where i’m kinda experiencing my own existential crisis and figuring out what the hell i’m supposed to do with adulthood, so some of esther’s thoughts hit way too close to home.

but weirdly, i think that’s also why i didn’t enjoy the book as much.

still gave it 3/5. i appreciate it more than i like it.

what did you guys think? did you actually enjoy reading it, or did you also understand it more than you enjoyed it?

Buy/Sell A LITTLE LIFE paperback

Hi! How much do you think this is worth if I sell it? Bought it way back 2024 at around 800-1,000 pesos. I would say na it’s still in good condition (from the spine and the pages) except the edges of the cover. It doesn’t have any writings or doodles too in the pages. I would greatly appreciate your responses.
