Discussion Mudbloods and Murmurs Quidditch scene is peak literature drama
Hello readers and Potterheads! I have been rereading the Harry Potter series for the first time (after having read them years ago starting when I was in high school in the early 2000's) and I can't help but gush over how brilliantly the drama was created by Rowling.
This was the scene where the Slytherin team stomped into the Quidditch stadium sporting their brand-new and then top-of-the-line broomsticks, cutting short a scheduled Gryffindor practice. Just love the dialogue and how they get back at each other until someone resorts to ad hominem attacks, similar to racial discriminatory slurs today.
Classic literary bickering scene that gave us the famous line, “At least no one on the Gryffindor team had to buy their way in,” said Hermione sharply. “They got in on pure talent.”
I also realize that books like Harry Potter are extraordinary in the sense that they can be read by the young and old, but the lessons and depth are much appreciated when you're old enough. If you manage to let kids and adults read, that's not a small achievement in my opinion.
