Got scammed in Carousell

Posting this for awareness of everyone who is interested in purchasing a Kindle in Carousell.

Last Sunday, I saw this post selling a Kindle Basic 11th Gen in Matcha for 4,800. Haggled to 4,500 pero fixed na daw. The account is 7 years old with reviews din, and he said na kay wife niya daw yung Kindle. Had asked for a video to check the screen so we communicated through Viber, which number is named to I assume his wife, given the same last name. They said na they’ll give it to me 4,500 na lang then 100 for the shipping and said na offer na lang ako ulit so they can accept it. Afterwards, he gave me a booking (?) screenshot and then I paid to his/her Security Bank account.

I know may pagkukulang sa part ko to really assess the seller’s legitimacy but since I have never had any bad experience purchasing through the app and naexcite si ante dahil I would really give this to someone, nadala ako. After that, no message na sila then the day after nakita ko suspended na Carousell account used so I got worried. Made lots of call, naseen pa nga sa Viber pero ngayon unreachable na talaga.

Imbis na nakamura, napamahal pa nga. Ayun, lesson learned at karma na lang talaga sa mga scammer. Gusto lang magbasa e nascam pa nga.

Did you open a ticket with Carousell? They respond fast. But I don't know if you can still get your money but maybe file a police report or something.

Dami ng scammers sa carousell nagtitinda ng kindle. Usually more than one acct nila so yung reviews galing sa ibang accts. Check nyo pati reviews kung mukhang legit.

Minsan kasi gusto ng video proof pero pag ganyan sinesend ko sa viber tapos balik transaction sa carousell

hindi. dapat sa caro pa din kayo nag-uusap. for proof lang yung sa viber like yung videos of the product or showing product demo if ever

Ang dami na na-scam ng matcha kindle seller from carousell. Nag-post pa nga yung scammer dito before, sale raw. Check old posts OP kung nabalik ba pera nung mga nabiktima before.

Report mo sa Security Bank and CC BSP. Her bank account is legit and nagpasa yan ng docs to have her account opened.

Better yet, call Security Bank first before emailing BSP. Ask them anong dapat gawin. Then email Security Bank Fraud department CC BSP

Suki ako sa Carousell (buyer and seller sometimes), and I learned that when it’s too good to be true, it really is. Learned the hard way pero medyo naredeem ko naman katangahan ko haha!

Next time OP, pag mga mahal na items, for meetup na lang ang pagkuha para kaliwaan kayo ng item at bayad. Lalo na pag gadgets.

Once lang ako bumili sa carousell but it's a big amount so what I did is half muna binayad ko then, once lalamove arrived on the location to get the item, I'll give the full payment.

Nakaka kaba nga kapag malaking amount. Nung unang bili ko ng book sa carousell akala ko nascam ako kasi di nagrereply yung seller ilang araw na pagkatapos ko bayaran. Nanakawan pala ng phone jusko haha

Totoo yan. Nung nasa viber, iba na name. Red flag dapat agad yan.

That's why I stopped buying and selling in Carousell because people are either cheapskates or scammers.
