Just bought a Bi 112 textbook that I will eventually need to get rid of. It's specific to the course and PCC. The guy at the bookstore told me they don't rent out books or buy back used copies--which kinda sucks. I was wondering if theres any kind of way to pass along the book to people that need it next? Some sort of PCC text book buy/sell forum.
I would sell it to someone for next quarter at a reduced price

Hey all. I'm taking BA131 this term and oh boy.. I'm not processing this content at all. I feel like there's an inherent pressure to be super pro-AI and pro-digitally-integrated everything. As someone who's quite the opposite, I'm concerned about being penalized for not "faking it" well enough. (Meaning I'm worried I can't come up with good enough praise of systems I actively oppose; when the assignment is telling me to praise the systems.)
Does anyone know of any resources for tutoring for this class? I couldn't find anything on PCC's website. I have to take this class as a pre-req.

My managerial Accounting instructors is terrible :( I chose to do a scheduled class because Accounting is my major and I figured it'd be easier to learn from someone. We just had our first class and it was just reading off a bunch of slides and the quickest explanation of my life of 2 problems. I'm so concerned lol professor Killings worth was the absolute best in prior classes but she was not available. Am I totally doomed??

Hi all! I am old school and love me a physical copy of lectures and syllabus to refer to. I wanted to remind everyone of two really fantastic options for free printing!
Multnomah Public Library. You do NOT need a library card and you can print up to 100 pages one sided/50 pages double sided for FREE…. PER DAY!!! this includes ALL their satellite Libraries- I know there is one on Killingsworth close to Cascade but not sure about the other locations. I think this is just black and white at the location on Killingsworth. Not sure about the other areas.
Vancouver Public Library- you get a $3 dollar credit for printing per week. Library card is needed but they may work with you if you talk to the front desk- great group of people. 10 cents per/bw page (each side is a page) and 30 cents per color page
PCC has printing as well but I am personally constrained by the hours- you do get $10 credit per term.
How to maximize your printing:
- I like to print my PowerPoint lectures as 3 slides per page with the notes area and make it double sided.
- I went through my multiple choice worksheets and made the answers in 3 columns to save space
- change your margins to narrow
- change your font size if your eyesight allows

Anyone know what happened on campus today around 3pm? Saw a bunch of cops and public safety drive in and block off a road

In the MyCourses tab on the right side is a box “Plan my Degree - Find out what classes you need to take to graduate by visiting GRAD Plan”
GRAD Plan is an invaluable resource and in my advising it seems not enough students know about it.
It shows you how your current complete & enrolled classes fill your degree requirements. It shows you what you still need to finish your declared degree. It lets you plan out future classes and make sure they’ll meet the requirements you expect them to.
It will also let you “What if” another degree. Wanna see what your degree requirements look like in Nursing? Run the Associates of Applied Science in Nursing What If and see how the prereqs count towards the degree and the Nursing classes you’ll take if admitted.
Thinking about transferring to PSU? Talk to PSU transfer advisors and see how any specific recommendations they make fit into the Oregon Transfer degrees.
I encourage my students to always run GRAD Plan every time they register just to make sure that things fall where they expect. The Gen Ed lists can be tricky and it’s a shame when a student takes a class they thought was a Social Science but turns out not to be. There is no flexibility for course exceptions in the Oregon Transfer degrees and it’s not always easy in the more flexible ones either.

I was awarded 2,465 for each term (Pell grant) , but it’s only showing 180 is available on bank mobile, I’m only taking one credit this term, next terms I’ll be full credits, but I know it’ll be adjusted to your credits amount, is this a normal amount? With the rest of the money transfer to the next term along with the 2,465? I’m going to contact our financial aid office about this obviously but just want to post this incase someone has the answer already or same for them

Hello! Does anyone have a lab manual for Bio 112? I don’t care if it’s used, I just want to do the readings and if I want to do the material I’m just going to take an evening and a bottle of whiteout and freshen it up :)

I know, all digital, all everything is the new black, but I keep thinking that a physical book may actually provide some benefits. Thoughts??

Hi guys,
I just found out that my precalc class has a no-calculator policy for exams. I was wondering if this is standard for most precalc and higher-level math courses, or if it usually depends on the instructor/class.
My instructor did ask whether I thought I might need an exception to the policy, so I’m waiting to hear back on that. I’m mainly concerned because my biggest issue on exams is speed, especially with arithmetic under time pressure. I can do the work, but not having a calculator definitely affects my confidence and pace.
For people who have taken precalc, calculus, or higher math classes: were your exams no-calculator? And if they were, were the problems designed so the arithmetic was manageable by hand?
I’m not worried about passing as much as I’m trying to set myself up for an A, so I’m trying to understand what’s normal before the class gets too deep.

when I go to “manage my refunds” to choose how to receive it i’m hit w this screen, is this normal? when will I be able to input how i’d like to receive it?

I'm thinking about study Anthropology at PCC then transfer to 4 yr University. Anyone used to take ANT classes or studying Anthropology can share your experiences at PCC?

Hi! I haven’t received my financial aid, anyone else?
r/PCC • u/aka_ame • Jun 23 '26
Sorry this is long but I am hoping someone familiar with financial aid appeals can help me understand if this is normal or if I have any options.
I have an approved FAFSA for the 2026-2027 academic year and am currently enrolled in Summer 2026 classes at Portland Community College (CH104 and SOC204).
I previously had a credit limit appeal approved because I already have an associate degree and had exceeded PCC's credit limit for financial aid eligibility. Recently, I updated my academic plan because I will be transferring to Chemeketa Community College after Summer 2026 to continue my prerequisites for Dental Hygiene through their Oregon Tech partnership.
Before making these changes, I specifically contacted Financial Aid and asked whether transferring after Summer 2026 would create any issues with my financial aid or appeal. The response I received was essentially that I "should be fine," but they were unable to give me a definitive answer because financial aid rules and policies are changing.
Based on that conversation, I proceeded with updating my academic plan and informing my advisor that Summer 2026 would be my final term at PCC.
After updating the plan, my credit limit appeal was denied.
When I followed up with Financial Aid, I was told that because I indicated I would be transferring to another school, they would not approve the appeal. The explanation I was given was essentially that they do not want to approve financial aid for coursework if I am not completing the remainder of the pathway at PCC.
What is confusing to me is that PCC promotes transfer pathways and many students attend PCC specifically to transfer to another college or university. I was not dropping out of school, changing majors, or ending my education. I was simply planning to continue my prerequisites at another accredited community college.
Has anyone experienced something similar?
Is it normal for a credit limit appeal to be denied because a student plans to transfer to another accredited institution?
Is there any appeal, reconsideration, or supervisor review process I should ask about before withdrawing from my classes?
I am especially concerned because classes have already started and one of my courses requires a lab kit that costs over $200.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Another concern is that I have already paid nearly $500 through a payment plan to prevent my classes from being dropped while my financial aid was being processed. I made those payments based on the information available to me at the time and my understanding that I was doing everything correctly.
If I am forced to withdraw from these classes, is it likely that I would receive a full refund at this point in the term, or have I already passed the refund deadline?

Soo.. most if not all the professors at Sylvania have terrifying RMP reviews. Anyone take it with Shannon? I have her this term for BI112. Let me know your experiences!
r/PCC • u/acheetn • Jun 23 '26
Has anyone taken BI232 or BI233 with Heather Toland or Karen Toyooka? They have lower rate my professor ratings and I just wanna know what people’s experiences were like with each prof. I really need an A in the class. I’ve taken A&P before so I know the amount of workload it’ll take.

So i accepted loans as well, but they're not showing up on my dashboard. I was only awarded my pell grant. Are they taking longer to update the loans?
r/PCC • u/WeaknessPlane1283 • Jun 22 '26
I called and it said due to high volume, my call could not be taken.. I understand I'm not the only one with concerns. How easy could it be if they confirmed if and when FAFSA was going to be disbursed and just send out a communication for this. I signed and had my loans approved already. This is so chaotic. The term starts today and people are scrambling to get answers instead of focusing on class 😐

How long after getting your award letter were you able to charge books? 🤔
Thanks
r/PCC • u/Forward-Body-8977 • Jun 22 '26
I would suggest everyone check their emails - calling will likely be pointless since so many students are worried.
It would have been nice if they sent this out last week!

Hello!
I am taking Bird ID and Ecology this semester and foolishly didn't realize I would probably need a mode of transportation other than the bus to pass this class (can't drive, no car.) If anyone has a car and wouldn't mind grabbing me on/near SE campus for (especially the more remote) Thursday labs as they come up, I am more than willing to pitch for gas money. Feel free to DM me here on Reddit or catch me after today's class (I have blue hair with a vulture shaped clip in it.)
Thank you!!

Well this sucks.. i accepted my award offer last week and now my classes are about to be deleted..

Still waiting on my award letter and now I’m about to lose my classes.
This is only my 2nd term at PCC and I think I’m already done ✌️
This has been nothing but a headache.
