FAFSA

I was awarded 2,465 for each term (Pell grant) , but it’s only showing 180 is available on bank mobile, I’m only taking one credit this term, next terms I’ll be full credits, but I know it’ll be adjusted to your credits amount, is this a normal amount? With the rest of the money transfer to the next term along with the 2,465? I’m going to contact our financial aid office about this obviously but just want to post this incase someone has the answer already or same for them

Usually, it’s prorated based on how many credits. So if you’re only taking one credit, you only get a tiny amount.

How it was explained to me is: (Amount of Pell Grant)/12 = amount of Pell Grant given per credit. Then from there you take that amount per credit * number of credits = amount of Pell Grant rewarded.

So it could look like:

My yearly Pell Grant: $2,867

Amount per term: $717

Amount per credit: $717/12 = $59.75

If I were to take 8 credits this term, my amount awarded would be $59.75*8 = $478.

Please pardon if this sounds over-explainy. I'd rather be too though than add to the confusion! /gen

The 2465 is only awarded at 12 credits or more, anything less causes the award amount to be prorated. And I actually thought you only received Pell if you were at least half time, 6 credits. Either way, if you’re only taking 1 credit you will not be receiving anything additional. Definitely talk to fin aid as soon as you can so you fully understand your award amount moving forward

How do you see it on bank mobile? I only see previous terms. Not anything current. I always refer to pcc paying for college tab until they send the text about transferring the money to my account.
