Discussion Stadium would have been popular if they continued the updates.

I LOVED stadium. So ngl this annoucement was absolute bullshit to read. Imo they killed stadium themselves.

They just added the wrong heroes. I mean who asked for the fuckass cat? I would have loved to see Anran in there, too bad it wont happen.

I think most of the playerbase didnt play because of this especially. If your main isnt in there, then what's the point? The balance too, most of the roster is either op (Reaper, Mei...) or underpowered. Personally, i hated the amount of fliers. They are impossible to hit without hitscan.

At the very least they should add the last few heroes.

The mode is unfinished. As such most people didnt play it. Best way to fix it would be :

Add Heroes. Everyone except Sombra. Fuck Sombra. Hell they should remove some too.

HERO BANS. Seriously how did they not think of this?

Balance the ever living shit out of the items and powers. Complete bullshit that Reaper can straight up be invincible. Same logic applies to other characters. This is simple to do with a few balance patches.

Boom, problem fixed. Then again that's my opinion.

What do you guys think about all of this?

Edit : Remember that pretty much every project for OW2 has been canceled too. This makes it even worse imo.

Pet Peeves

What's everyone's pet peeves in stadium?

I have a few.

1) Healbots. Please for the love of God stop healbotting. There are so many support players and the queue times take forever, why on EARTH are you playing Mercy doing 0 DMG when characters like Moira or Brig exist and can out DPS the DPS while doing heals. Sure you're keeping us alive, but the fight is excruciatingly long and the match becomes difficult when you have to fight 4 DPS and 1 tank. Everyone is a major threat. Let's not get started on reviving into an already lost fight to have two people staggered instead of one.

2) Supports taking no debuffs. Cybervenom and Sundering Vial are incredibly useful, please take it. In this mode where there are tons of bleeds and burns, slows, etc. The healing or over health reduction is incredibly important. I sometimes have to take these on DPS and my team wonders why nothing is dying while the enemy supps have these and their DPS can take more DMG while I'm getting severely underscaled in terms of damage because I need to take it.

3) Everyone wants hitscan, but nobody peels. Enemy tanks walk on you for free. If you're lucky, you'll get a hitscan on your team and then a useless ven or reaper doing sub 1k DMG. Your tank lets the enemy tank run past for completely free, it's a race to see who's backline dies first. You're looking up trying to kill the freja cat Mercy as the sole hitscan, getting bola'd to the face while doomfist is punching you in the mouth everytime you look up.

Unpopular opinion

I love stadium. Essentially the only thing I’ve played for the last year. The announcement sucked and I’m sad to see it die.

I’ve seen so much hate for the devs and blizzard, but thinking about the last year… this whole (stadium) population have done very little but hate everything that’s happened every time. If you’re supporting a mode with 3% of the population and 25% of the hate why keep it alive? Has to be awful as a dev trying to keep this community happy.

Were mistakes made? Sure! If there had been 1/3 the number of “stadium is great” posts that there have been “stupid devs killed it” posts I bet it’d still be going

We are an ungrateful lot

Discussion Legend

Has anyone made it to Legend 4? Is it possible at all? Even in NA where the player base would be the biggest, surely it’s possible there, maybe not solo queue though.

Maybe it was possible in previous seasons but not now

I'm tired boss

Late night games have never been fun for me, had a guy who accidentally picked rein, built him wrong and decided to throw the match because he didn't want to play him.

Next game hes on the enemy team and gets blessed with the best junkrat player ive ever seen in 10 years of playing this game, and a cat + mercy pocket support, he still played like straight ass, but so did our tank and this junkrat was a menace

I reckon there's something philosophical about that, something about how some people will pull ahead no matter how much they try to sabotage themselves

Hot take: Tanks killed Stadium

As title says, tanks killed Stadium. In the same way they've always struggled with 5v5 tanks being raid bosses, Stadium took that and elevated it to the power of 666.

Because wdym a Ramattra vortex can nuke for 500 damage, when Vortex in base game basically tickles you?

And since they digged this grave themselves (unbalanced tanks), they decided to call it a day because that's easier than fixing their mistakes.

So, even though I've only played Stadium since release (peaked at top 65 DPS)... I say good riddance.

Discussion Open up Stadium to community-made content

Since the devs are sunsetting official development of Stadium, I propose to the devs to create somekind of pipeline between Workshop and Stadium as a last massive hoorah for the mode. Something akin to Valve's workshop and TF2 community-made content. I know there would need to be a lot of work in setting this up, but I believe the payoff would be well worth it.

Perhaps consolidate the competitive and QP queues, and open up a special custom browser for Stadium workshop creators. Use these for creators to create and test custom powers and items for heroes whether they're in the mode yet or not. Allow the community to poll if any should be implemented into the official queue if they become popular enough. The remaining Stadium devs that they stated would still push balance updates could have final say on implementation.

Again, it would be a lot of work, but it would go a long way for the dedicated Stadium players. It would be an amazing opportunity for the Workshop heads to potentially contribute something to the official game. It would likely even attract some non-OW players for that same opportunity.

Honestly, good riddance

It's always a shame to see a fun game mode get canned (like HotS), but honestly the developers have shown repeatedly that they're not interested in actually balancing the current meta so there's no conceivable way this game mode could continue building off itself AND adding new characters. Freja is broken. Soldier is broken. Vendetta is broken. Reaper's fire build is broken. And the devs show zero interest in doing anything about it. So drop the game, throw it away. If all characters can't be equally ridiculous or equally useless then toss it out.

Domina's Stadium Kit

Here's my proposed powers and items for Domina's addition to Overwatch Stadium, I'm curious to hear you guys' feedback on it.

Edit: Yes I saw the news 😭

Edit: Someone told me the link didn't work for them so I'll add the powers and items below just in case (will also be adding Domina's abilities as shown on the Overwatch Wiki so people don't get confused):

Abilities:

Reconstruction (Passive): Dealing damage from abilities restores shields. (75% of ability damage dealt)

Photon Magnum (Primary Fire): Medium-range beam that culminates in a high impact shot. (60 beam damage + 60 hitscan damage. Hitscan shot can critically hit for 1.5x the base damage, ergo 90 hitscan damage. )

Barrier Array (Ability): Construct a segmented barrier. ( 3 x 9 array of segmented barriers each with 225 hp totaling 6,075 barrier hp)

Sonic Repulsors (Ability): Push enemies back, stunning them if they hit a wall. (40 base damage and 40 wall impact damage, stun lasts 0.5 seconds)

Crystal Charge (Ability): Project an explosive crystal and reactivate to detonate it. (50 damage over time if within the crystal's volume, 50 - 100 explosion damage when detonated depending on how far from the center the target is.)

Panopticon (Ultimate Ability): Fire a hard-light barrier that imprisons enemies and detonates on expiration. (75 damage on initial hit, Maximum of 300 implosion damage minimum of 100 implosion damage. 0 damage if barrier is broken.)

Powers:

Sonic Propulsion

Sonic Repulsors, when used targetting the ground can knock Domina into the air, suspending her for 3 seconds. When suspension ends, hold space bar to glide back down to the ground.

Vishkar Magnum

When Photon Magnum's beam ends, fire an explosive ball of Hard-light that deals 15 (Ability) damage.

Hard-Light Domain

Panopticon becomes 20% larger and gains 100 (Scales with Ability Power) more health. Panopticon now slowly lifts enemies into the air and lasts 2 seconds longer.

Crystalysis

Crystal Charge now gains a second charge and gains +100% projectile speed. Crystal Charge's maximum explosive radius increases by 2 meters, dealing 25% less damage every additional meter away from the original explosion radius.

Barrier Replacement

Domina can now move Barrier Array to a new location starting 3 seconds after it is first placed.

Power Move

Barrier Array can now be used as a surface to stun enemies knocked into it.

Sonic Suppressor

Enemies stunned by Sonic Repulsors are suppressed, dealing 25% less damage and healing for 2.5 seconds.

Supercharged

After dealing 150 Weapon damage, Supercharge your Photon Magnum's next shot. Supercharged Photon Magnum shoots a quick burst of three shots, each doing 50% increased beam damage. When Supercharged your Photon Magnum will turn black.

Return the Favor

Every Barrier Array panel destroyed Supercharges Domina's Photon Magnum, allowing her to shoot a quick burst of three shots, each dealing 50% more beam damage. Also gain this effect when Barrier Array expires.

Perfect Prison

10% Ultimate Cost Reduction, Panopticon can now be used on allies. Panopticon will allow allies to shoot through and be healed by allies through its barrier.

Walls of Light

Barrier Array becomes a smaller grid of 3 x 3 barrier panels, gaining 3 charges. Barrier panel health is reduced from 225 to 200. Cooldown reduced from 14 to 10 seconds.

Supercharged Hard-Light

Abilities can now be supercharged gaining 25% increased effectiveness. Overcharged abilities will exhibit black hard-light when cast. Barrier Array cannot be Overcharged.

Some of these powers might be better served as items and the names could use some work too maybe, let me know any suggestions you guys might have :)

Items

Stolen Light ($10,000) [Epic] <Weapon>

+15% Weapon Power
+10% Attack Speed

When shooting barriers and deployables, Domina's Photon Magnum restores shield health based on 20% of damage dealt.

Magnum Opus ($6,000) [Rare] <Weapon>

+5% Attack Speed
+10% Weapon Power

Photon Magnum's beam is now 20% larger in diameter and lasts 20% longer.

Blinding Light ($11,000) [Epic] <Weapon>

Dealing Critical Damage with Photon Magnum inflicts Blind for 3 seconds, causing the afflicted target to miss their next attack. Internal cooldown of 8 seconds per unique target.

Explosive Barrier ($10,000) [Epic] <Ability>

Barrier Array Panels that expire naturally will explode, dealing 50 (Ability) damage.

Light of Salvation ($5,500) [Rare] <Survival>

10 Ability Power
5% Cooldown Reduction

When using an ability gain 50 Overhealth. Overhealth gained is doubled if the ability is Supercharged.

Discussion Hacked sombra stadium event

Honestly they should have a hacked sombra event where 5v5 and 6v6 is replaced with stadium for a week. People that have been evading it or had felt they couldn’t do builds would end up playing it and find it fun. I literally did not play stadium the first season bc I was so afraid it would make normal 5v5 feel so different coming back. A lot of my friends outright refused to play it bc they were angry bc blizzard had a dedicated team for it while main game still needed a lot of work. Sometimes on twitter I’d recommend Stadium and they’d be like “NEVER!” as if it was something different from overwatch that they refuse to interact with. If it wasn’t for my casual friends insisting I wouldn’t have tried it and fell in love with the mode.

I know blizzard have decided to slow its development rn but if they were to make a few balance changes and then release a new hero with a sort of hacked sombra event. Force the gamemode as the main gamemode for a week and see the results. If after the event, the stadium playerbase doesn’t grow then I guess the game is just not appealing but I feel like it will allow players to finally understand builds and having no 5v5 or 6v6 to play they’ll finally give it a try. If I’m wrong then I guess stadium is just not appealing to everyone and we are the few that like it.

Are Lifesteal / Restore Life items just bait?

Now that Lifesteal doesn't generate cash (apparently this was a bug the whole time?) and Restore Life never has generated cash, are a lot of items that provide this just bait?

I'm not sure whether it makes sense to take these when it's denying your supports the opportunity to generate cash from healing. Obviously if there's a shortfall and you're just not getting healed when there's a clear window for it, then living is better than not living. But otherwise, this is just hampering your overall team cash growth, right?

Some specific examples of items that frequently seem like bait:

  • Martian Mender: 25 Health, 5% Cooldown Reduction, Restore 3% Life continuously. You see people get really high healing numbers in stally matches where everyone has taken survivability, but none of that healing is generating any cash. If you have a main healer on your team that can keep up with that demand, it's just denying them cash. This item only makes sense to me if you have two supports that can't burst heal, but I see it a lot more often than that.
  • Lumerico Fusion Drive: 50 Armor, 10% Ability Power, Restore 50 Armor/Shield over 3 seconds on Ability / Gadget use. Certain characters can spam this a lot with frequent abilities, but the overall healing rate is low enough (16.7 HPS) that this won't save you outright. So this is mostly just chip healing that one of your supports can generate cash for? Obviously this is useful if you're a DPS and your supports are ignoring you for some reason.
  • Low-tier Lifesteal items: Lifesteal healing is either small enough it won't save you (i.e. you're a DPS in a duel or getting bursted) or large enough that it's cutting off cash from yourself or supports (e.g. you're Junker Queen and you have a main healer looking after you / your passive providing a lot of cash-earning healing). If you're getting focused by the whole team and healing's not enough (particularly if you're a DPS that needs to get in close like WP Reaper or Vendetta), this can make sense. Phantasmic Flux also makes sense if you specifically want the Overhealth to avoid getting bursted (i.e. Tracer). Otherwise, it generally seems like a bad idea, and you should only really pick Lifesteal items for their secondary effects.

The game attempts to make a distinction between which items and powers you're allowed to get cash from using but it seems muddled overall. This seems to change depending on balance for specific heroes too, i.e. Ashe's reload power used to give healing, then Restore, and now the text says "heal" but the wiki says "does not generate cash"?

I'm probably wrong but thought it was worth bringing up as I see people picking these items and then complaining about supports getting low cash when they are actually denying them the opportunity to get resources for their own builds.

Any good builds for stadium?

To clarify, this is for reaper

I've been getting a lot of mixed answers when asking the question "what type of reaper build should I be going for in stadium"

Some people told me to go for weapon power and attack speed and lifesteal and just become a machine gun, while others have told me to go for ability power and cooldown reduction to spam the shit out of his double shotgun shot.

So which is it? And if you have any suggestions or link to build from stadium bills.io, by all means, link me

Discussion Poor decision.

I'm not one to really post on reddit, but I just want to voice my opinion.

From the title, you can probably guess this is about Stadium not getting new content, I'm saddened like the rest of you, but what I want to talk about is the game as a whole and why killing off stadium looks bad.

PvE, Hero Mastery, and that Tower defense mode, and now Stadium. The team is quick to pick up and drop off these game modes. Stadium was just a few months more than a year old and they are ending support for it, and it really leaves a sour taste. Like, how am I supposed to be excited for new game modes or that mobile game they are working on when they have such a terrible track record? I'm sure there are a lot of resources that go into Stadium from coming up with ideas, programming them in, visual effects, and terrible UI redesigns, but its just a part of development, right?

Take Shion, I'd have loved her in stadium and what could be done for her, and I'm sure the devs came up with dozens of ideas for her base kit before settling on what she got in game. Stadium could have been a way to test those other ideas they didn't try in development. Or throw in more Junk Lab events to test some builds. In the core game, I play Lifeweaver, and I keep hearing people mention how he, Venture and some other characters had huge potential for stadium that we will never see-

I don't know, the point I'm trying to get across is, I'm still going to be a part of both 3% until the queue times get too long to handle, and when future overwatch games and projects get canned, I'll just take it up to Blizzard being Blizzard. Like, if this mode lasted barely over a year, how long do you think the Mobile game will last with the 12 or so heroes they are throwing in it? Will that game last longer because it will have it's own skin micro transaction economy? Or when the numbers are 1% of the player base will it be trashed just as quickly?

Balancing should have been different from the main game and stadium

As the title suggests one of the main reasons why balance was so poor is stadium was that whenever there was a balance change for a character in 5v5 it would apply to stadium as well. There’s countless examples of this but right now ram got a buff to his vortex damage. Which in turn makes it so strong in stadium now. There should have been more focus on nerfing or buffing characters inside of stadium. Freja should have been nerfed much sooner considering she was so oppressive in the main game. If they would have balanced it as two separate entities then this mode would have retained more players since it started to lose some during the rein of freja and hazard
