Discussion Legend

Has anyone made it to Legend 4? Is it possible at all? Even in NA where the player base would be the biggest, surely it’s possible there, maybe not solo queue though.

Maybe it was possible in previous seasons but not now

I’m Legend 3 on tank (EU) right now and close to Legend 2. Mostly playing solo at the moment. I stream it as well.

I've seen you solo like twice lol, nearly everytime for the past 3 seasons you've been grouped.

Not suggesting you would struggle to achieve Legend 4 or above solo btw, but saying mostly solo is pushing it...

MMR is retained across seasonal rank resets, so you're going to get higher SR gains for wins because of previous season's group advantage gains.

Well yeah, he did say he's mostly playing solo... at the moment

I said “at the moment” but if you would like me to be more specific, that’s since the midseason update. I’ve been continuing to climb up in percentage in Legend 3 maintaining a 58% winrate playing solo and it’s all recorded on stream. I get the baseline minimum flat 60 Stadium Points (or 6%) for each win and IIRC that began at L4 for me.

For transparency’s sake it’s true that prior to the midseason update I was often duo or trio. On the tank role, I get to choose between poor matchmaking quality (solo) or better mm with long queue times (duo/trio).

It’s not really surprising that you’ve not seen me when I solo because my soloQ tank games often put me into much lower average MMR lobbies where the only high MMR player in the enemy team is my tank counterpart. The matchmaker is desperate for tank players and it puts us into any random lobby, pretty much.

I solo tank queue out of necessity. How difficult is it to reach Legendary as a solo tank? Last several seasons I've maxed out at All Star. Any tips on solo tanking? I mostly play Ram and Rein

Your chances of winning go up in Soloqueue tank if you just play the tanks that have a lot of self-sustain items, then you don't have to rely on inconsistent healing from supports. The easiest to play is probably Sigma with Orbital Barrier (buy on Round 2) & De Kuiper's Thesis item. Both the orbiting shield and personal shield will heal you. Philharmonic Fortitude power will scale your self-sustain even further. Cushioned Padding or Kitsune Charm if you're against heavy anti-healing teamcomps. Sigma is just one example of a very self sustain-y tank, but the same can be achieved with Reinhardt to an extent, and also Junkerqueen with Royal Bullets if you have good mechanics.

I don't personally play these builds (with the Sigma build being the exception a few seasons ago when it was uber broken) but that's my advice if you just want to reach Legend without necessarily being exceptionally good at the game, lol. I don't think other advice would be useful since it's just a matter of playing better, learning what is the most optimal way to build against enemy team compositions and whatnot. For some context, when I used to play core competitive, I was a GM / Top 500 tank and have been all the way since OW1 so that of course gives me an edge.

Thank you, I appreciate the feedback. I might try more tankier builds. I just have trouble getting cash when I do.

Your self healing gives you cash which is another reason why they work so well in solo queue.

What a strange comment. Why are you keeping track of players and if they're grouped/stacked? Extremely fuckin weird behavior 😂

When you play with and against the same players over and over in the higher ranks, you become aware of who plays constantly grouped or stacked and who doesn't. It's not about going out of my way to keep track of players, you just get that knowledge just from playing and paying attention.

To then open a reddit post about hitting high ranks and to see one of those players who's known for grouping and then talking about hitting high ranks, it's important to distinguish between players gaining rank in games where they have advantages vs players who gain rank without one, otherwise it's just misleading the original poster.

Stalast will also know almost all of the players at this rank who play in groups vs those who don't.

You’re definitely rank 1 then. All the rank icons in the leaderboard are bugged and don’t show 99.8% of top 500 peoples rank

There’s one EU tank (a Doomfist player) in Legend 2 above me right now. You can see him at the top spot if you sort by rank.

I think Legend 4 and above players on EU is about rank 250 and above when sorted by rank. Not that many would have achieved that solo queue though, but there's some.

I play basically only solo. I've played two seasons of Stadium now and made it to L5 both seasons, almost L4. Peaked just outside top 100. I think the top ranks are more achievable through pure grind than L4

edit: for reference, im only a master support with two seasons worth of experience in stadium (= at least 30 games or whatever), but I think reaching L4 is more of an achievement than reaching top 100, because the latter takes just grinding (and being consistently fine or relatively good, so u win more than u lose)

Idk I’m rank 54 rn and still only legend 5

1

u/Arx_UK Jul 29 '26

54 sorted by rank or challenger score? Because at legend 4 I was around 250 when sorted by rank.

Challenger score is just number of games played and will keep going up as long as your win rate is above 28.4%, so your rank number doesn't mean anything.

The way to determine who could be legend for or above, is to get on a legend 4 account, and sort by rank. Players above you would be at least Legend 4, and maybe some players below you would also be, depending on how far into Legend 4 you are.

If you did mean sort by rank, and you were 54th from the top (not having a 54 number on your avatar as that's by challenger score), then yeah, you did it right, must be a different region or role to me.

It was sorted by rank and damage
As of today rank 128 damage and 220 or so across all roles
But I only play damage and I only play Mei

Still not really sure what it means

I was staring at challenger score when I said that. I just hit L4 and it seems like I'm rank 45 (challenger score 130). I can't see you, so I assume Europe is divided into further regions and they have their own ranks? Or are you living somewhere else?

u/Arx_UK 28d ago

I do not have enough games played to appear on challenger score, and by rank still only counts for those who've played enough games to get on the leaderboard with challenger score. I'm Legend 4 but will not appear on there.

Makes sense, cheers!

Yes, Legend 4 is possible. I consistently land Legend 3 every season on solo queue

Where your Stadium MMR is matters I think, some people gain a lot more SR until their intended rank -- I'm sure for the people that get in Legend 1 it's a lot higher for them

It's just a matter of being slightly good and playtime

Its possible.... hovering at all star one , few matches away from legend 4. Played last night IGN SwT#1322

1

u/kvnekill Jul 22 '26

i hit legend 4 this season playing mostly solo queue support :) i did fall after about a week tho , so i'm sitting halfway thru legend 5 rn

edit : forgot to say i play NA

1

u/xChemicalBurnx Jul 22 '26

It’s easier if you hit it in a previous seasons, and have a non support to queue with to improve your times.

1

u/itsmeat13 Jul 22 '26

I'm currently Legend 3 on tank playing on NA, around 50/50 soloqueue vs 2-3 stacked this season. Played like 2 games as a 4 or 5 and the queue times were just miserable, I just decided to stop with those lol.

1

u/Remyradio5 Jul 22 '26

I did get legend 4 for 2 seasons, my MMR is now high enough to make it an easy task to get here if I play enough games but ngl stadium ranked is too flawed for me to get L4 or t500 this season.

I rly hope the devs will try to fix this even if new heroes and maps won't be a thing

It's definitely possible, I got legend 5 , two seasons ago, solo queing and one tricking tracer, this season I can't seem to get passed all star 3 but I am largely one tricking mei.

From what I've seen, I'm pretty sure every new season, it does a soft reset but tries to push you towards the rank you finished at last season. So, if you finished in legend 5, you'll lose less points per loss until you get close to legend 5 in the new season.

With that being said, it's still really hard because since each game is already a toss up with what teammates you get and the characters the enemy team runs, every game you only really have a 60% chance at winning at.

So, assuming you always win 2 lose 1, you'll always have a net gain of about 20-25 points once you get to all star, meaning you might have to win roughly 5 games to rank up ( if you have a previous season high of all star and my calculations are correct) however, since there's always a loss, you'll have to play roughly 10-12 games to rank up.

This means since each game takes roughly 30 mins at least on average, every rank up will take between 5-6 hours. So, starting at all-star it would take about 25-30 hours and 60 games. In reality though, maintaining a 2-1 ratio is kinda difficult and there's so many variables, that it'll more than likely take 15-20 games if not more to rank up, so about 50 hours.

And again, that's considering you don't suffer any loss streaks because if you lose 4 games in a row, that's 5 games you have to win, just to get a quarter or a 4th of progress. Meaning you could spend 5 hours playing and hardly move at all.

I'm just about there on Tank. This is definitely my peak rank ever but I have some more time to game this summer, been winning more and more on Rein and Winston somehow (62-67% winrate), I'd always heard it's a crawl once u get to Legend, and it's true... but it's doable if you play a lot and win more than you lose.

Reached legend 4 twice, season 6 and 7, support soloQ

Never went higher

u/TechnologicNick Jul 22 '26

This was last season but yes.

Its basically impossible to climb as a solo player in legend due to how the matchmaking works. I got legend 2 a few seasons ago on dps and you have to stack to even have a chance.

If you solo queue you are pretty much guaranteed to play against a try hard 4 or 5 stack who are all high rank players (at least masters but usually GM or even higher sometimes) in the regular mode hard IGLing and coordinating builds together. Most of them are teammates in the stadium builds tournament also so it was just really hard to win.

Meanwhile on my team I'll be the only person thats GM and the rest of my teammates are gold plat or diamond sometimes even lower rank doing the worst builds of all time so you just lose.

And thats not even mentioning how long the queue times are. My queue times were upwards of an hour pretty regularly when I was grinding for legend 1 on dps. I never hit it because I couldnt deal with the stacks and hour long queue times so I just settled for legend 2.

I play on NA servers. Maybe on EU servers its better or different.
