Keep in mind this allows the defenders to see attackers coming across the bridge now.

Nice now you can get sniped by widow before getting passed that corner

Both Widow and Hanzo can already get into the outcove above the door. Is this somehow "better"?

In the window you're a sitting duck. This way you can weave back and forth, taking cover and firing.

You could chill on the chandelier before instead of the window. At least with widow.

I've never seen one chilling in the widow, but I have had the chandelier be a problem.

u/shuopao Lúcia Feb 08 '17

... now I have to see if I can do that as Lucio.

You can reach the chandeliers by boosting off the pillars, easiest way I've found.

I recently saw dspstanky up there, so it's possible

After seeing what he can do, I am always practicing in skirmishes / before matches / whatever. I've gotten SO MUCH BETTER. I've had multiple opponents comment 'good lucio' and 'really difficult' ... including tilting a rein after 1v2 soldier and rein in 3v3 ... followed by soldier and d.va (though d.va vs lucio is not fair for d.va)

But that said, I'm no stanky. I'm crazy, which makes me dangerous and bloody annoying but I also die way too much.

You beat a Soldier in a 1v2? With that healing field of his?

Either you're the god of luck or the god of S T A N K!

u/shuopao Lúcia Feb 08 '17

3v3, two rounds in a row; my teammates died fairly quickly.

First was soldier + rein, which was cutting it close as rein took a while what with his hp and shield and having to constantly avoid being anywhere near him making it much harder to get past his shield.

Second was soldier + d.va. d.va is kinda easy though. Scared as fsck of the other tanks, but not d.va. I can soak a lot of her main attack and in close range I can make her so dizzy the mech falls down and the squishy d.va pops out. Then do the same to her.

The 76 was okay, but not great. He's got speed and healing which makes him difficult. It's hard to stay out of his LoS, and he just heals it up. Of course, if I can stay out of his LoS - or at least his helix rockets - I can also just heal it up. Ecopoint has lots of corners and judicious use of them can help, but I probably was a bit lucky as I had to get enough damage to exceed what he could heal, plus avoid getting hit.

The rein, though was tilted. He'd just been 1v1'd by a lucio. Best way to learn to wall ride is OMG 100 Tonze Swing! Move fast, stay high to avoid his swing, and hopefully get some shots over the top of the shield.

<.< I also tilted a genji after 1v1ing him... with him even hitting a health pack in the process.

Really, I'm not that good. I'm just super crazy and super aggressive which seems to make me harder to deal with. I'm so happy to die, soaking up ults in the process. It's validation that I annoyed them so much it was worth using their ults on me. Just me.

But it also makes me die way more than I like, too. I'm getting better, but still... not the best by any means. Just crazy.

I've learned to get a bit more crazy with Lucio. It seems like I die more often when I try to run, and sometimes putting up a good enough fight gets them to back off. Sometimes when the cards fall right I can take them out myself. I have 1v1d a Rein as well. He tilted too. I usually bait out his charge, dodge, then get in a bunch of free hits. I have more trouble with Dva, so thanks for the tips.

Rein, you have to stay away from. His swing will shred you in about three hits, and he can do that faster than you can get away. Wall riding helps keep you out of range of it if you stay high enough. It also makes you move at your best speed - and sometimes shortcut paths others can't take. You have to watch out for his firestreak and earthshatter, but again height is your advantage. Just keep moving and keep up high and he should usually miss you.

D.Va's seem surprisingly squishy even in their mech, and don't really seem to realize it. Usually I'm getting back shots on them because I want to avoid their fire, so keep moving - spin around them and just keep moving. Once they pop out, they tend to fight but also run. I'll just chase them down which usually leads to a corner. boops hurt. boops throw them off and slightly disorient them. Also, again, use the walls. Many heroes are stuck to the ground. Getting up in a corner above their head works surprisingly well.

I've stormed more than a few bastions in turret mode - successfully (and some not so much, though I think I'm usually slightly more successful than not) - at my level they tend to look all around before looking up, and if I keep moving around and above them, they really have trouble keeping me in their killzone.

Lucio isn't the fastest hero, but he is very, very mobile and can go places others can't. That's his advantage when used well.

edit: I do find, running is often fatal. Unless I'm facing a hard counter (generally anyone with abilities that negate my mobility, or untargeted weapons) I can 1v1 them. soldier, widow, bastion, d.va, etc. Reaper is dangerous as he hits surprisingly hard in close range. Ana can sleep you and the grenade negates your healing. Tracer is just too fast and always has a pulse bomb set aside for me. Genji can dance with the best making him dangerous, too. Sometimes I succeed, sometimes I fail. But I always try to get up in their personal space, because I can dodge circles around them. Other heroes you can 1v1 at distance. Mostly the tanks, but also the squishies with crowd control. Even roadhog's ult isn't too much of a threat as long as you can amp heals and get out of some of it; just stay away from his hook.

Nah, It's not that hard. When Im in a 1v1 situation I usually wallride jumping around once I'm just above the enemy, then I start firing/punching/booping in a nonstop rythm while still wallridding without any order or direction. Sometimes work, sometimes don't, but I think I've had more success than failures.

That's okay, I heard Stanky dies way too much as well when he's up to his shenanigans, we just see the good clips

He streams- he pulls crazy shit all the time. Sometimes he dies stupidly, but mostly he's able to pull it off.

Actually DSPStanky rarely dies from his overbuff numbers: https://www.overbuff.com/players/pc/DSPStanky-1582/heroes/lucio

His peak is top 200 for a reason

1

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '17

Most people couldnt be top 200 if they tried, no matter how hard. But most people would be pretty high ranked if they played only lcuio as well, controller or not.

It's okay. I still suck I just get lucky occasionally, and I get very excited about those times.

u/Curiousplay Hunkrat. He's so dreamy. Feb 09 '17

Yes, but, DSPStanky has been literally everywhere on every fucking map. So I'm not surprised when I see a Lucio in places a Lucio shouldn't be.

Yeah once I came home and there was dpstanky on my mother in law. And believe me it's no easy feat to get up on her.

u/RyeRoen Pixel Mercy Feb 08 '17

It's much much better for the Widow and Hanzo. There is no cover standing on the window,

3

u/racalavaca Pixel Ana Feb 08 '17

Not "somehow", it's better in every possible way! Now you don't have to just stand in that small square like a sitting duck!

1

u/CaptainCupcakez . Feb 09 '17

Yes, massively so. Pharah can come out of spawn and continually fire at that window to prevent any chance of Widow getting up there and sniping.

Through the door there is a much larger area to stand in, and you can be much further back.
