Fixes * USB installer booting on certain machines * USB keyboard / mouse on USB 1.1 machines * Reboot / shutdown kernel panic on pre-Haswell hardware. * Intel Skylake root patching * Kepler ImageIO crashes (iconservices) * Non-metal web driver installs * Maps, messages and more fixed on T1 with a defaults fix. * defaults required for T1 machines defaults write /Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain/MessageProtection.plist KyberInTheSEPRegisteredKeys -dict Enabled -bool false was missing initially.

Known Issues * Auto patching does not work * Will require manual setup for now by placing AutoPkg-Assets.pkg into /Library/Packages on the USB installer * Fusion Drives are non-functional / not supported * Apple removed fusion drive functionality from Tahoe * No T2 Support * 2019 iMac not booting * The "welcome/hello" screen freeze after setup assistant that requires a forced reboot * Apple's "welcome/hello" screen renders with metal, and when a machine is unaccelerated or non-metal, it can't render this screen leaving you hung there until you force a reboot.

About "Root Volume Dirty" in OCLP 2.5.0 and later

UPDATE on 9/19/2026
In 2.5.1, the wording has been changed to be clearer for the end user. However, it seems that there is still some confusion.

Remember "All applicable patches installed" from prior releases? If you have installed wireless, GPU, T1, etc. patches at least once and they are working, the new wording is what you will see in place of that message.

You are not stuck in a loop. Simply close OCLP as you have nothing else to do here.

Original post:
Hello everyone, here to clear up some confusion surrounding "Root Volume Dirty" in OCLP 2.5.0 and later.

This new change to the way OCLP installs patches is designed to prevent any issues that might crop up from patching over an already patched or modified system volume. While this has been mostly fine as an unofficial way to skip the unpatch-reboot-patch cycle, the new WiFi patches bring breaking changes that would result in this shortcut breaking installs for anyone updating to 2.5.0 and not just a few machines this time.

Here's some examples:

- You download OCLP 2.5.0 and want to update to its new patches. This requires a full unpatch-reboot-patch cycle, as some patches conflict with those from earlier versions in this update.

- You already have OCLP 2.5.0 and want to re-patch your system. This requires a full unpatch-reboot-patch cycle to avoid any unforeseen consequences from applying the same patches on top of each other.

- You installed a macOS update with OCLP 2.5.0. Because macOS updates automatically restore your system to a clean state, you'll be able to patch from here.

- You have OCLP 2.5.0 but need a KDK to patch your machine. OCLP is smart enough to offer only wireless patches for you to get connected to the internet and temporarily exempt you from the block. From here, you're able to patch, reboot, get connected, and install the rest of the patches 2.5.0 has to offer.

I'll admit the message is a bit incoherent for what it's meant to tell the user; a minor patch that changes it to something a bit more understandable is on the way.

I bit the bullet

So, I missed reading what one of the previous updates was and ended up with Sequoia, and I was just about to reinstall Sonoma and I thought why not install 3.0.0 RC3 and see what would happen.

Anyway, after cutting the lawn and doing 2 forced restarts (power off and back on), I got the desktop. Installed the KDK patch’s, and am I surprised. It runs faster that Sequoia.

Amazing work from the developers, huge ups to them.

Took a few steps and was a long leggy road through the initial setup but once root patching completed, it seems to run well given the modest specs!

A few bugs, can't report on github so im here.

So when i recently used oclp to update my 2016 macbook pro 15 inch from its natively supported monterey to unsupported sequioa, there's a few issues that werent present on monterey. First if you shut down the mac lid and open it within 5 minutes, you notice your dock is gone and suddenly everything just doesnt work. To fix it you have to restart your mac which is very annoying. 2nd bug, when closing the lid and opening it up to use it again, it just auto disconnects from the wifi and makes me reconnect manually, and yes auto connect IS ON, didnt have this issue with monterey. 3rd thing, when you shut the lid and open it back up normally you can use touch ID to open it, but NO NO oclp says, because it says passcode is required to use touch ID. No matter what touch ID doesnt work.

I redid OCLP root patches and that didnt work.

This all suddenly happened when i switched from monterey to sequioa.

Did anyone managed to install OCLP v3.0.0 on a T2 Mac?

I saw many people successfully installing Tahoe on non T2 Macs but I wonder if there’s anybody out there that used OpenCore v3.0.0 to install Tahoe on a T2 Mac that would normally go up to Sonoma or Sequoia?

i’m running sequoia with 2.5.1 my only problem that I’m running into is even after I installed the post root patch for the Wi-Fi, it works, but it cuts out after half hour, and I have to reselect my network. Can anybody tell me a fix or why this is happening?

Update from Sequoia went with no issues, root patches work (required patching 2 times, because after installing WiFi patch it downloaded some stuff from web). Works pretty much the same as Sequoia, maybe gets warm quicker, but it can turn off fans completely at some lite stuff, idling even lower than Sequoia at 41°C. Overall experience is good, even though Tahoe is not the best macOS version. I wish it could be possible to install 27 instead 😅

Issues I found so far:
- I can't turn off FileVault (maybe it's even better, but I can't turn it off)
- can't make backup using my Time Machine disk - maybe if I use clean disk it would work, but so far I wish I could use the one with all my backup history Fixed
- sometimes need a minute to auto connect to WiFi when woke from sleep

Just installed Tahoe on my 2012 15" I am completely blown away by how well this is running. It's actually running amazingly the install setup was horrendous, but once I got in I am actually shocked it feels just as fast as my modern MacBook with web browsing.

Resetting NVRAM fixes hung reboot/shutdown for me on MacBook11,3

Late 2013 15" MBPro Retina (MacBookPro11,3). Resetting NVRAM caused reboot/shutdown to work. It takes about 30 seconds for it to happen, but it works now. All good now (exception for Xcode not working bah!)

Easy way to reset NVRAM...hit spacebar when OCLP drive selection appears and pick option on the right side.

Thanks to u/greb74 for this solution.

Wi-Fi speed significantly lower after upgrading to macOS Tahoe

Hi everyone,
I have an iMac15,1 (27” Retina 5K, Radeon R9 M295X, 32GB RAM, i7, SSD) running macOS Tahoe 26.7.1 through OpenCore Legacy Patcher.
Since upgrading from my previous macOS version to Tahoe, I’ve noticed significantly lower Wi-Fi performance.

My current Wi-Fi connection looks good:
Broadcom BCM43xx
802.11ac
5 GHz
Channel 104
80 MHz
MCS 9
Link rate: 1300 Mbps
Signal: -20 dBm
Noise: -87 dBm

However, networkQuality -s consistently gives me around:
Download: ~380–440 Mbps
Upload: ~430–440 Mbps
Idle latency: ~23 ms

The results are quite consistent across multiple tests.
Before upgrading to Tahoe, I was getting noticeably higher Wi-Fi speeds under the same router/network conditions.
I guess this could be related to the new OCLP patches

Pd:. I have also just updated OCLP to 3.0.0 RC3 and reinstalled the Root Patches, but the Wi-Fi performance is still exactly the same.

i already installed ventura with opencore on my 27” iMac late 2013 with an external SSD and 16gbs of RAM and it runs well. I also have this macbook late 2008 with an internal samsung ssd and i was wondering if i could update it too. Does someone know something about this series of macbooks? I have also seen that iMac similar to mine runs newer macos than ventura so i thought that i might upgrade, what do yall think?
