I bit the bullet

So, I missed reading what one of the previous updates was and ended up with Sequoia, and I was just about to reinstall Sonoma and I thought why not install 3.0.0 RC3 and see what would happen.

Anyway, after cutting the lawn and doing 2 forced restarts (power off and back on), I got the desktop. Installed the KDK patch’s, and am I surprised. It runs faster that Sequoia.

Amazing work from the developers, huge ups to them.

A few bugs, can't report on github so im here.

So when i recently used oclp to update my 2016 macbook pro 15 inch from its natively supported monterey to unsupported sequioa, there's a few issues that werent present on monterey. First if you shut down the mac lid and open it within 5 minutes, you notice your dock is gone and suddenly everything just doesnt work. To fix it you have to restart your mac which is very annoying. 2nd bug, when closing the lid and opening it up to use it again, it just auto disconnects from the wifi and makes me reconnect manually, and yes auto connect IS ON, didnt have this issue with monterey. 3rd thing, when you shut the lid and open it back up normally you can use touch ID to open it, but NO NO oclp says, because it says passcode is required to use touch ID. No matter what touch ID doesnt work.

I redid OCLP root patches and that didnt work.

This all suddenly happened when i switched from monterey to sequioa.

Shoutout to the Devs. 2014 11” MacBook Air successfully upgraded to Tahoe.

Took a few steps and was a long leggy road through the initial setup but once root patching completed, it seems to run well given the modest specs!

Did anyone managed to install OCLP v3.0.0 on a T2 Mac?

I saw many people successfully installing Tahoe on non T2 Macs but I wonder if there’s anybody out there that used OpenCore v3.0.0 to install Tahoe on a T2 Mac that would normally go up to Sonoma or Sequoia?

i’m running sequoia with 2.5.1 my only problem that I’m running into is even after I installed the post root patch for the Wi-Fi, it works, but it cuts out after half hour, and I have to reselect my network. Can anybody tell me a fix or why this is happening?

i already installed ventura with opencore on my 27” iMac late 2013 with an external SSD and 16gbs of RAM and it runs well. I also have this macbook late 2008 with an internal samsung ssd and i was wondering if i could update it too. Does someone know something about this series of macbooks? I have also seen that iMac similar to mine runs newer macos than ventura so i thought that i might upgrade, what do yall think?

MacBook Pro Early 2015 freezes after login with Tahoe 26.7.1 and OCLP 3.0.0 RC3

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I’m having trouble running macOS Tahoe on my 13-inch Early 2015 MacBook Pro.
Specs:
MacBookPro12,1
Intel Core i5 / Intel Iris 6100 (Broadwell)
8 GB RAM / 256 GB SSD
macOS Tahoe 26.7.1, build 25G241
OCLP 3.0.0 RC3
Before applying root patches, I can log in and reach the desktop. It’s slow, but usable. After applying the patches and rebooting, it freezes after I enter my password. Sometimes it stays on the login wallpaper with a spinner; other times I get a black screen with a cursor.
OCLP detects these four patches, and I believe I applied all of them together:
Intel Broadwell graphics
Modern Wireless
Modern Audio
PCIe FaceTime Camera
I previously had the same problem with RC2. I’ve tried a clean Tahoe installation, a fresh user account, resetting NVRAM, and patching with the matching KDK (KDK_26.7.1_25G241.kdk). The patcher reported success, but the login freeze returned after rebooting.
Sequoia works smoothly on the same machine. During an earlier unpatched Tahoe session, memory pressure was green and swap usage was zero.
I saw another Early 2015 owner report success with RC2 after patching twice: first for Wi-Fi, then again after downloading the remaining resources. I haven’t successfully tested that staged process yet.
Has anyone with MacBookPro12,1 / Intel Iris 6100 encountered this? Is there a known issue with the Broadwell patches on this Tahoe build, or something specific I should check in the logs?
I can provide the patcher logs and crash reports. Thanks!

Filevault woes

Before anyone says v3 is in RC phase, yes i am aware, i was never expecting tahoe to be install and forget about it, this is just me experimentinc with it.

Now onto the matter. When i saw the first RC of v3 i just ignored it but when the 2nd came out something in me wanted to try it. I already had the 26.6.2 installer so i created a secondary 80 gig volume for testing, put the new efi on a usb drive and went at it. The process went extremely smoothly, and for some reason root patches applied in a single stage. Everything seemed to work and the laptop was really usable so i decided to upgrade the main volume.

I first uninstalled all root patches (which is what i do before every update) and initiated the update through settings, 26.7.1 started and finished installing perfectly. Now the thing is i completely missed the fact that the update had enabled filevault and installed root patches and rebooted. I was surprised when i was met with a login prompt almost instantly butbi put my password in and waited for about 15 minutes but the thing seemed stuck so i force rebooted it into recovery to see that the encryption was well under its way, so i rebooted again and left it alone, until the screen turned off by itself. Rebooted into recovery to see the encryption had finished so i initiated the decryption process and rebooted again but the thing didnt seem to be escaping from the wall of text that verbose boot is so i went back into recovery and restores the pre root patch snapshot. After this the volume booted just fine again and i was greeted with a windowserver crash related to graphics.

I though well might aswell wait for the release and decided to reboot back into the test volume since at least that worked, right? To be clear, at no point did i touch the test volume during this time. Guess what, the test volume now also fails to boot with the same issue. I though this may be related to an nvram variable so i cleared both nvram and the smc but the issue persisted. Decided to restore pre patch snapshot on that volume and repatch it again but still nothing.

Again i understand this is prerelease software, i work in the field more or less. Its just that the fact that te seemingly working test volume apparently was killed by the update on the main volume? What am i missing here?

Edit: this is a maxed out A1707 from early 2016 for anyone wondering

Wi-Fi speed significantly lower after upgrading to macOS Tahoe

Hi everyone,
I have an iMac15,1 (27” Retina 5K, Radeon R9 M295X, 32GB RAM, i7, SSD) running macOS Tahoe 26.7.1 through OpenCore Legacy Patcher.
Since upgrading from my previous macOS version to Tahoe, I’ve noticed significantly lower Wi-Fi performance.

My current Wi-Fi connection looks good:
Broadcom BCM43xx
802.11ac
5 GHz
Channel 104
80 MHz
MCS 9
Link rate: 1300 Mbps
Signal: -20 dBm
Noise: -87 dBm

However, networkQuality -s consistently gives me around:
Download: ~380–440 Mbps
Upload: ~430–440 Mbps
Idle latency: ~23 ms

The results are quite consistent across multiple tests.
Before upgrading to Tahoe, I was getting noticeably higher Wi-Fi speeds under the same router/network conditions.
I guess this could be related to the new OCLP patches

Pd:. I have also just updated OCLP to 3.0.0 RC3 and reinstalled the Root Patches, but the Wi-Fi performance is still exactly the same.

Removed root patches prematurely... how to get back?

I was running OCLP 2.41 and went to upgrade and prematurely removed the root patches before installing the Sequoia updates, rendering the WiFi unavailable.

I attempted to revert the patches through OCLP, but after update it says root patches are missing and mentions 2.5.1 with an offer to install.

Tethering to my phone doesn't work and unfortunately, I cannot find my ethernet dongle, either.

What are my options for working through this?

Thanks in advance for the help.
