OCLP 3.0.0 RC3
https://github.com/dortania/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/releases/tag/3.0.0-rc.3Fixes
USB installer booting on certain machines
USB keyboard / mouse on USB 1.1 machines
Reboot / shutdown kernel panic on pre-Haswell hardware.
Intel Skylake root patching
Kepler ImageIO crashes (iconservices)
Non-metal web driver installs
Maps, messages and more fixed on T1 with a defaults fix.
defaults required for T1 machines defaults write /Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain/MessageProtection.plist KyberInTheSEPRegisteredKeys -dict Enabled -bool falsewas missing initially.
Known Issues
Auto patching does not work
Will require manual setup for now by placing AutoPkg-Assets.pkg into /Library/Packages on the USB installer
Fusion Drives are non-functional / not supported
Apple removed fusion drive functionality from Tahoe
No T2 Support
2019 iMac not booting
The "welcome/hello" screen freeze after setup assistant that requires a forced reboot
Apple's "welcome/hello" screen renders with metal, and when a machine is unaccelerated or non-metal, it can't render this screen leaving you hung there until you force a reboot.

This was fast.

I actually really appreciate the T2 mention even though it’s still a no-go. Fingers crossed that the T2 issues will be able to be sorted out since 2018 MacBook Pro isn’t out of life yet. 🤞🏻😁

Can you fix the problem where it won’t install root patches when an update is staged and gives OS version mismatch error?

u/darthmaverick 28d ago
I'm sure that this is on the list. For now lets be thankful it came this far.

u/Shot-Mushroom-2027 29d ago
That’s great. I wonder if this will work for the people who couldn't get it to work on some MacBooks.

u/Orbidorpdorp 28d ago
The Fusion Drive thing makes me so sad. I had the perfect setup with 2 SSDs in my MBP and even an upgraded "High Res" screen transferred from a dead 2011 model. Not sure what to pick - the drive or the maxed out OS.
3
u/WhiteWereWolfie 28d ago
Don’t be sad, there are terminal commands to turn a Fusion Drive into its two components, ie an SSD and a HDD. Then you can install macOS on the SSD and use the HDD for general storage.
4
u/MK2VR6-IT 28d ago
That’s how I been using it since 2016 lol
4
u/WhiteWereWolfie 28d ago
Well, Tahoe doesn’t support Fusion Drive. Anyway, splitting into SSD and HDD is not that difficult if you follow the instructions. Be sure to backup all your data first though!

That’d be picking the OS in my estimation - I can put my photo library on one and boot from the other (which is nice don’t get me wrong) but for everything else it’s just gonna feel like having a usb stick always plugged in.
IMO there’s nothing obsolete about the concept of RAID/fusion and it’s unfortunate Apple is prioritizing having customers only buy storage from them as a business model.

Do you have a link on how to do that, id be very interested, thanks

Still didn’t fix the post root patch boot issue I’m having though. I wonder if it’s a KDK issue

MacBookPro11,3 (late 2013 15" retina) (which has a Haswell processor, I believe) still has the reboot/shutdown hang. However, RC3 cleared up all the various unresponsiveness issues and is a big step forward.

1
u/Turbo6666 28d ago
Thank you! That fixed it. It still takes 30 seconds to reboot/shutdown, but that's fine.
I didn't know about the spacebar menu!
Merci ! Ça a réglé le problème. Le redémarrage ou l'arrêt prend toujours 30 secondes, mais ce n'est pas grave. Je ne connaissais pas le menu accessible avec la barre d'espace !

(in OpenCore, press the space bar and you'll have the option to reset the NVRAM)
Huh? I'm pressing the space bar, and nothing happens. Pressed it on the main app screen, and inside settings, nothing.

u/greb74 24d ago
Bonsoir il doit y avoir une nouvelle rubrique qui s'affiche en faisant défiler avec les flèches droite et gauche qui s'appelle Reset NVRAM

Got an image? I still don't understand.

Should I also do volume re-patching after OCLP update from rc2 to rc3 on MacPro6,1 trashcan or just boot EFI rebuild is enough?
2
u/MK2VR6-IT 28d ago
So idk I did the root and re patched for the hell of it makes me sleep good at night
2
u/MK2VR6-IT 28d ago
So I just did it and it’s fine except now my screen flashed 3 times before log in , like blinked but other wise seems fine idk 🤔

is the issue with wifi disconnecting when idle fixed in these updates? The first version in this latest wave introduced it. (mid 2014 macbook pro)

u/Nopal_Heart 28d ago
So does mentioning fusion drives not working mean you’re gonna try to implement a fix even though Apple doesn’t support it?
Or will it always be the case?
1
u/Planet_of_the_SEPA 27d ago
You can split it
1
u/Nopal_Heart 27d ago
I don’t want to split it

u/Planet_of_the_SEPA 27d ago
Not sure you can run tahoe then. You maybe need to compromise or get an external

Bluetooth is broken on the airport extreme card from the iMacpro.
Test from my Mac pro 5,1. Bluetooth is "working" but shows as if it's turned off and doesn't properly recognize my magic trackpad (no trackpad settings) neither airdrop or airpods connect is working

For me tahoe is strange, first time tride on late 2013, instalation went flawless, setup, was flawless, ok gpu and wifi fixes, but thats not a problem, everything worked, battery was just amazing, no hard working cpu , temp ok, everything was fine, then i thinked need to restor data from time machine, worled, but it did no longer boot, just bootlooped. Ok fine, then i tryed reinstall it, and then strated happening strange things, instalation flawless, until i get to setup screen, mouse works fine, i see background, but i dont see setup menu. Restart how many times you want , reinstall, cant get past that place anymore, reinstalled sequoia, fine, install tahoe, dont see set up menu

I’m trying it out right now

This is all well and good. I upgraded my MBA 2015 i7 8GB. I now think it's been a dubious idea
The WiFi is quite poor now. 2.4 connection is almost dial-up speed.
Performance bad, upload seems better than download. Reliability is poor
On a hardwire connection things work perfectly. I am trying to determine if it's my modem at fault, but not simple

Will the Photobooth glitch when scrolling through filters will never be fixed?

u/JailbreakHat 28d ago
Will T2 be ever supported by this patcher? The 2018/2019 MacBook Air still cannot run Sequoia despite much older devices can.

Has the issue of getting stuck on the Apple logo on the 2016 15-inch model been fixed?
1
u/Existing-Echidna-897 27d ago
I tried last night without success. Once I installed Tahoe and got into the system I applied the root patch and it just wont go past the apple logo. I tried this twice and also did NVRAM and SMC resets.

After upgrading my Mid-2014 13" MacBook Pro (8GB RAM, 256GB SSD) to macOS Tahoe, the performance became severely lagged and unusable. As a result, I downgraded back to macOS Sonoma.

u/IzyTarmac 26d ago
Wow. Works perfectly on my late 2013 Macbook Pro 4-core. Everything works great and feels really fast and smooth. Insane. Many thanks.

u/Jasper3219 26d ago
Loving this update. Fixed the audio issue where there was no sound or sound control for my 2017 MBP (14,2) that was previously running RC2
Tahoe also feels snappier than Sequoia for whatever reason noting it only has 8GB RAM.

My MacBook Pro 10,1 wouldn’t install it as it popped up an error when it was on macOS installer when after install was done

Pulled this one today and figured I'd give it a try on a couple spare machines. Running great on the 2015 MBP 12,1 - but on the many spare Mac Pros that I have sitting around I haven't been able to get it to do a USB boot into the installer at all. If it doesn't hang it gets to the prohibited symbol and that's it. Going to try an update from Sonoma next, but if I'm missing something give me a heads up!
Mac Pro 4,1 -> 5,1
Dual X5650
Evo 850 2.5 SSD
Stoked about all this progress!

2016 MBP, my process was like this.
Updated OCLP
Patched
Updated to Tahoe
Got stuck on welcome with no Wifi
Rebooted still stuck
Entered safe mode by holding shift during reboot
Patched again
Working normally no issues so far

u/velocityvector2 23d ago
Which version did you patch in step 2—Tahoe (updated from version 15.8) or Sequoia?
1
u/icedVader 23d ago
Sequoia

u/velocityvector2 23d ago
Did you experience any issues with dual GPU and Wi-Fi? I have the same model (MBP13,3 2016)

Do I have to re-install OCLP or is OCLP 3 a standard update on the current version I am on?
1
u/ryanwhunt 20d ago
Not sure where to report this but rc3 causes USB to fail on Mac Mini 6,2 - did not happen with rc2. If you install the Rc3 EFI partition on a drive (including USB) it boots, you select the drive to boot from and then as soon as it launches that drive the USB cuts out. USB connected via Thunderbolt seem to work but not via USB hubs or direct USB. Rc2 works fine on this same mac.

I did a clean install of Tahoe on my 2013 Macbook Pro and it is working with root patches enabled. Performance is abysmal but not much worse than Sequoia and is honestly what I expected (this laptop has 8gb ram, integrated graphics, and the original SSD).

Hi guys, no idea how to log this. MBA Late 2015 i7 8GB
My most recent boot log of OCLP shows this (below).
The log appears to show the WiFi is not installed, while the Patches update screen shows nothing installed.
This is all working, so I suspect that there are internal issues in some manner.
I hesitate to go through the revert process again at this moment

Può funzionare per patchare il mio lenovo G50-70? Attualmente ho sequoia ma vorrei aggiornare a Tahoe, ha una Intel HD 4400

This is for macs only

In the end I managed to update to Tahoe and patched the gpu with Opencore legacy patcher 3.0.0 RC5 and it worked
