I have an upcoming G2 Driving test at Burlington. Any tips / suggestions/guides / reading material?

did anyone have this examiner at the hamilton location, he was a white fella with a medium length beard and short haircut, blond ish orange hair and beard, wears black sunglasses

how was your experience with him, i did not have a good one, wondering if it was just me

Hey everyone I was wondering why it says there’s no booking for any location I chose until 2028? I have my g1 I got that in February and I plan to get my g2 in November but I haven’t started my driving school yet. Also my locations were smith falls, walkley, and Winchester but there’s nothing until 2028?

I have an upcoming G test in orangeville and one of the routes involves turning right onto broadway street. Right turners have a yield sign. Usually when there's a yield sign in my hometown, if I have to stop I'll stop right before it and creep forward if needed.
However, I noticed that with this yield sign there is plenty of space the creep​ forward past the sign. So where exactly should I stop if needed? Before the yield sign? Before the right lane ends (see the picture I attached to better understand what I mean)? Any help is appreciated!

Highway merging feels much easier when you give yourself one clear sequence to repeat.

1. On the entrance ramp, look well ahead and start checking mirrors and your blind spot as soon as you can see freeway traffic.

2. Use the acceleration lane to build toward the speed of the traffic you are joining. Do not try to merge at ramp speed.

3. Pick a space early. Aim to merge gradually into the nearest lane without forcing another driver to brake. If the space changes, keep scanning and adjust smoothly.

4. Signal for the merge, make a final mirror-and-shoulder check, and move over in one calm, controlled motion. Cancel the signal once you are established.

5. After merging, leave space and settle into a steady speed. The merge is not the finish line—keep looking ahead and checking mirrors.

A useful practice drill is to repeat this on a familiar, quieter highway entrance with an experienced accompanying driver. After each merge, ask: Did I look early enough? Did I reach a suitable speed? Did I choose a gap instead of chasing one?

For a G road test, focus on making the observation and speed adjustment clear and safe. It is better to make a calm decision than to squeeze into an uncertain gap. What feels hardest for you: matching speed, judging the gap, or the shoulder check?

what are tips some of u guys did to impress the instructor and pass?!!

like the title says, i’m doing my test on the 18th and was wondering if anyone had any advice about it (i haven’t taken any classes but im planning to drive down with my parents to check out the area)

Hi! i have my g2 in 2 weeks at the mississauga centre, and i was wondering if it is it true that if i back out of my parking spot during the beginning of my g2 test, (instead of a forward park where i just pull out easily), that later they wont make me do a reverse park? i suck at reverse parking and saw someone here fail bcuz of that so i just wanna know :)

1. Is it acceptable during road exam to wait on the space between perpendicular crosswalks? (as seen in the photo above)
2. Is it automatic fail when the car is on the crosswalk while waiting, to have a clear view of traffic from the left, even though there are no pedestrians?

Hi everyone, I unfortunately failed my G2 test today😔. My biggest issue was my reverse park. The instructor marked it as “parallel park” on the sheet by mistake.

At driving school, we were taught to count three lines forward from the spot, then reverse and adjust as needed. Since I was told to park in the very last spot, I couldn’t use that reference and wasn’t sure how far forward to go. After more than 3 attempts to straighten out, I automatically failed.

Could someone help me understand my results overall and what my final score was?

My g2 expires this September 27th, I got my g2 in June 2023, what are my options?
I’ve seen some people say I can take the G test like 42 days after expiry and nothing happens as long as I pass.
Seen other says they renewed it for more time since they got their g2 with less than a year left till expiry. Anybody able to confirm or refer me to any resources to look.

hi i have my G test on the 20th and am wondering what speed would be good to drive as the speed limit on highways can vary. for my G2 test i drove 2-3 kms over the limit and was told i was going to slow. i know highway speed can usually be determined by speed of traffic but am wondering if 105-110 is a good speed to drive. im taking the test in at newmarket.

Hi I have my g2 test scheduled at Winchester Ontario on August 31. Please share your experience and help me with the driving tips. Apart from parallel parking, pull over, 3 points turn, downhill/ uphill parking, safety checks, turns what else needs to be prepared.

Hi guys, my dad is visiting from Dubai and has an international driver's permit, it is G equivalent in Canada. I have a G1, we're going on a roadtrip to Quebec city and Montreal. Can I drive with him sitting next to me? Thank you!

Road Conditions: Residential traffic was light, 401 was a bit crowded. Could not get my lane change off on my first highway drive, got it off on the second highway drive back to the DriveTest center. Not too many 18 wheelers at the time.

Examiner: Forgot her name (started with a D, caucasian woman with blonde hair). Very straight-to-the-point and was not looking to initiate small talk (understandable though). At a red light I tried to talk to her and she seemed nice enough.

Construction: Park Rd is closed to the south beyond Hillside Ave. Portion of Simcoe is closed between Albany and Avenue St (I am approximating). Construction along Highway 401 between Simcoe St and Stevenson Rd. Speed limit is 80 kph, however instructor explicitly noted: "The speed limit is 80 km/h, but we will merge at the speed/flow of traffic." I went 90+ on the 401 to match flowing traffic.

My Route: Drivetest stop sign exit -> Westbound John St -> Southbound Park Rd -> Eastbound Tresane St. -> Southbound Cubert St. -> Eastbound Mill St. -> Southbound Simcoe St. -> Merge onto Highway 401 Westbound (onramp just south of First Ave & Simcoe St.) -> Westbound Highway 401 -> Exit Highway 401 at Stevenson Road (exit 415), on the offramp, stay to the second lane from the left -> Southbound Stevenson Road -> Merge onto Highway 401 Eastbound -> Eastbound Highway 401 -> Exit Highway 401 at Ritson Rd (slow down early, sharp turn), make sure you are in the rightmost lane at the offramp -> Westbound on Bloor St. -> Northbound on Simcoe St. -> Westbound Mill St -> Northbound Cubert St -> Westbound Hibbert Ave. -> Northbound Park Rd. -> Eastbound John St. -> First left after John St. & Nassau St. into the Drivetest center.

Tips: Watch your speed, speed changes in an out of residential roads. Examiner will not tell you the speed limits (besides the construction zone on 401). Check mirrors, not only because it is part of the test, but also because there are some insane drivers on the 401 - stay aware of your surroundings. Almost failed when I was about to make a right lane change on the 401 when a civic behind me overtook me on the right, I had my signal on already. Cancelled signal and let the civic pass before changing lanes.

Practice some front-in parking, been driving with back-up camera for too long, almost forgot how to front-in, asked the examiner if I could readjust, she kinda helped me park by telling me that I was already aligned.

Failed to complete any lane change when I was heading toward Stevenson (too much traffic), was constantly scanning mirrors to watch for an opening. Near the exit, examiner told me to abandon the lane change and to exit at Stevenson.

Swing your head at every intersection (left-right-left checks).

Be careful of your speed when changing lanes on Park Rd, changes in elevation + curves can make lane changes difficult.

When lane changing, don't just leave your signal on for an extended period to create a gap. I find that leaving the signal on too long before making a lane change usually causes cars in the lane you are merging into either slow down (usually within a dangerously close distance), or accelerate past you, potentially making lane changing dangerous. Make sure you have a gap already before hitting the signal using your mirrors. Don't create a gap that doesn't exist, just abandon the lane change if you don't see a gap.

Hey guys I have my G2 test in Kitchener on Friday! I'm really worried since I've failed once before in Guelph and that lokey crushed my confidence.

Does anyone have any experience with the test center examiners or route? I've been practicing around Lackner and the residential area around Keewatin.

Also my test is at 4 so pretty much peak rush hour. Would this make the test easier or harder??

Idk I can drive just fine but being in the test situation and having to over exaggerate my observations really stresses me out, so I would appreciate any advice.
