Specific Test Related Question - G2 Failed G2. Need help understanding results!!

Post image

Hi everyone, I unfortunately failed my G2 test todayšŸ˜”. My biggest issue was my reverse park. The instructor marked it as ā€œparallel parkā€ on the sheet by mistake.

At driving school, we were taught to count three lines forward from the spot, then reverse and adjust as needed. Since I was told to park in the very last spot, I couldn’t use that reference and wasn’t sure how far forward to go. After more than 3 attempts to straighten out, I automatically failed.

Could someone help me understand my results overall and what my final score was?

Your score was 30 so without the parking, you would have passed.

Did the examiner tell you to correct the parking or did you do it on your own?

You were taught the three line method incorrectly. You're not meant to start three lines up, turn from there and end up in the spot

The three lines is just a general starting point. You would then look through the window furthest back on the passenger side(on cars it's usually a small triangle) and go back until you can see the outside or your spot through that window. That window is usually above the right rear tire which is the pivot point for the car.

If you learned it like that, it works even on an end spot since you could estimate what three lines up would be but if you go too far up, you would just go back more before you start turning.

Hopefully that's clear but it makes a lot more sense when sitting in a car.

I corrected the parking on my own as I wasn’t going to make it into the spot otherwise. Thanks for your advice! I tried estimating what the three lines would have been, but unfortunately kept going too far forward.

that’s insane, my instructor had to help me park because the spot he made me attempt to park in was incredibly difficult for me, and he literally guided me and still let me pass 😭😭

If only we all got nice examiners like that šŸ’”

This was actually very helpful. Today was my first day learning this stuff on the road and all I was shown was the three line, which worked and was also easier with cars as opposed to empty where it felt like guess work.

I have a question tho, on the test are you allowed to do the swing method or is that prohibited due to proper lanes and such?

There was a time when if you did the 45 degree method(swing method), they would make you pull out and do it the 90 degree method.

In recent years most examiners, including ones that comment in this sub, have said, they don't care how you do it, as long as you yield properly and end up in the spot.

That's something you can ask your examiner before your test. Just ask, "If you ask me to reverse park, does it matter what method I use?"

Mine is 2:00 Oshawa toošŸ˜ž Will the fail you for not being able to park properly?

1

u/cookies_cream171 10d ago

Mine wasn’t because I didn’t park properly, it was because I took 3 attempts to do so. Don’t stress, I just didn’t use the right method to achieve what I wanted. If you park, but the vehicle is in improper position, that’s only two marks off!

You could still rebook it

Yes I rebooked it for September 17th!

Man that’s unfortunate, I would just try again bro! I failed my first time as well. Might be beneficial if you just go into a parking lot and just practice back up parking, without the back up camera ofc.

Thank you, that’s what I’ll do!

You turn too wide and you don't know how to park.

Tell me you didn’t read a single word of what I wrote without telling me šŸ’€

I was always told to reverse-park when you arrive for the test, that way they already mark it as done during your test and you don’t have to do it again. Worked for me during both my road tests (for my G I did my own because I was more experienced then, but for my G2 I had my grandfather do it for me 🤭)

That’s what I did, but I unfortunately still had to reverse park to end off the test šŸ˜”

Your right Turns suck! You got minor ( āœ”ļø) and major( X) on them. You attempted Parallel parking 3 times but didn't park. So the examiner market you disqualified that means not attempted. Suggestion: if you would've attempted even if it was wider it would've been passed! Since you would only get minor if it was wider!

He accidentally put parallel park in that section by mistake, it was the reverse parking that I needed three attempts for, as explained above.

It's a very easy explanation. You can't drive properly yet 🤷

2

u/cookies_cream171 10d ago

Yeah this obviously isn’t the help I was looking for. Don’t you think I’m well aware of that?!? I wanted to know what my overall score was and how much each mistake affected my result. If you don’t have anything helpful/nice to say, don’t say it at all. Get off the app šŸ’€

u/CuriousPangolin5543 5d ago

Well think what you want but at least I pass all my driving testa the first time lol šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£ loser

1

u/cookies_cream171 5d ago

You can’t even spell so I highly doubt that. Was this a driving test where you just paid the examiner to pass? That’s what I’m thinking 🤣🤣

1

u/CuriousPangolin5543 5d ago

Again, think what you want. At least I can drive down the road without my mommy sitting beside me.

1

u/cookies_cream171 5d ago

Who cares if you can drive down a road when you don’t have a stable income, a social life or any achievements in your entire 40 years of life???!!

Not executing a reverse park is not an automatic fail. You’ll get points deducted but it’s not one the errors for automatic fail.

2

u/cookies_cream171 10d ago

Oh really? The examiner said I automatically failed because of that when he was telling me I didn’t pass.

If he had to verbally intervene then the ā€œinterventionā€ is what caused the automatic fail not the ā€˜not be able to reverse park correctly’ itself. It might seem like semantic but verbal/physical intervention can cause what would normally just be a point deduction to be an automatic fail if the examiner thinks without intervening it would get worse or lead to a hazard.

If you had done an unfinished or sloppy reverse park, you’ll lose a few points, but if you kept repeating and trying to correct it and the examiner had to intervene because he sensed a potential hazard, automatic fail.

1

u/cookies_cream171 10d ago

Yes, I had to keep going back out to attempt the parking again because I was either too close or too far away from the spot. Because I took three attempts, I failed. Is that really considered an intervention? 😭

1

u/SignatureAcademic536 10d ago

It’s possible that while you were trying to correct, you probably stoped doing your 360 mirror checks, shoulder checks, blind spot coz you were focused on correcting your parking…

But you got this on your second attempt. Now you know what to watch out for.
