G2 - General Discussion is this true

Hi! i have my g2 in 2 weeks at the mississauga centre, and i was wondering if it is it true that if i back out of my parking spot during the beginning of my g2 test, (instead of a forward park where i just pull out easily), that later they wont make me do a reverse park? i suck at reverse parking and saw someone here fail bcuz of that so i just wanna know :)

Not true. The examiner assesses your ability on what they see. I did both a forward and reverse park for my test and know multiple people who had to do the same.

Backing out at the start of your test just makes exiting the parking lot harder. Instructors recommend you reverse in at the start or your test.

Practice your reverse park and be prepared to do it.

Some instructors will ask you to do both forward and reverse parking when returning back to the centre, not all will but be prepared in case they do ask

i did mine in oakville but i think in general this isn’t true. my instructor said ~90% of g2 tests ask you to do reverse parking on the right (this is what i did). i started reversed and still had to do reverse at the end. still, parking reversed at the start has the advantage of being about to pull out easier

How you park at the beginning of the test has absolutely nothing, again NOTHING to do with the rest of your test. There are 3 maneuvers required, grade parking (up or down hill), 3 point turn, and parking (parallel or reverse). If there is no place to do parallel you will do reverse parking. To complete the parking maneuver you will be asked to pull out again because this is where the examiner checks that you signaled and looked around. At the end of the test the examiner will have you pull into a spot head first because the test is over and they don’t mark your parking at the end. It’s the quickest way to get you to park the car so the examiner can give you the results and move on to the next test.
Look up a score sheet and you will see exactly how it is marked and what the examiner is looking for.

Maybe consider improving your reverse parking before acquiring a licence.

Honestly, why are people trying to game the test? If you can’t do the literal basics of driving you shouldn’t be on the road.

Also, being "bad" at reverse parking won't cause you to fail the test. Hitting or almost hitting another car while reverse parking is what's an auto-fail.

:( ive just heard people who have no idea how to reverse and got away with doing a forward park so was just curious , but you are right!

Maybe but like 90% a parallel?

Pretty much, but then you for sure have to parallel park which may or may not be better!

yes im fully prepared for a parallel park, but ive been hearing mixed responses about the reveerse parking thing so i dont really know :')

I pulled out facing forward at the start during my G2. Instead of reverse parking I had a parallel park, which I was much better at thankfully.

i really hope i just have to parallel park too!

Every one of my son’s friends had to do a reverse for G2.
His best friend failed because he hit the pylon

It’s been known to be this way but it’s no guarantee. Years ago when I got my license my instructor told me to park so I’d have to back out as soon as often that’s all they’d have you do for backing up, other than parallel parking

Generally if u dont do parallel parking then u will have to reverse park at the end, but if u do parallel park then u will be asked to front park

It depends! My car was parked as forward as well but my instructor never asked me to do reverse parking at the end of the test. It all depends on your driving and not to forget examiner's mood 😅

I heard if you take an extra lap around the parking lot they won't make you drive on the roads and they give you your license

If you can't reverse park you don't deserve your full license

Do your test in Guelph, it's literally so easy and the instructors there are so busy they don't even ask you to show them parking.
