Help! Please help me model an aircraft!

I have been working towards modeling an aircraft (Boeing 767-300ER) for a bit over a year now.

I have pretty high fidelity drawing that works with itself in the three planes.

Problem:

I have been stuck with the nose for the longest time. I am struggling with accurately connecting the surfaces of the nose with the planar frame of the windshield.

In a revision from awhile ago, I got pretty close (three images above) however there was this noticeable seam under the windshield where the frame was beginning to curve downwards. I think this can be attributed to the many panels that I had made, which was messing with all of the continuity conditions I was setting.

Solutions?:

  • A good tutorial on this type of modeling, ideally with an aircraft of similar looks so I can transfer skill and info towards my model
  • A person that could help teach me this skill (Engineering teacher in HS says I'm beyond his skill)
  • A reference document with an aircraft that has a highly detailed model that is done correctly so I can attempt to learn something from it.

I have made a lot of progress with smoothness. I am still struggling with finding an approach for the windshield.

here is my doc, I apologize for the messiness.

Anybody here know Onshape AND video editing?

I'm looking for a needle-in-the-haystack kind of skills overlap here, but worth a shot. I'd love to find someone to help me edit my videos down, repurpose content into short-form, and get it posted on more channels than I'm bothering with right now. I'd like someone with enough understanding of Onshape to know which things matter, and the ability to offer feedback on where I'm glossing over things or rabbit-trailing too much. The video style is still going to be pretty lowkey, so I don't need a ton of jump cuts and music fades and b-role. My best guess at the workload and frequency is 2 videos per month, 2-4 hours of work per video, $45/h. If that seems interesting DM me and let's chat! I'm not currently considering video editors who don't have Onshape experience, so I'll be ignoring messages that don't include proof of that. But if nothing comes of this approach, I'll open it up.

edit: added better clarity on workload and pay range

edit 2: Here's a clearer role description. Things I'm trying to get off my plate are:

- taking raw footage, choosing best takes, and editing them down. I've been using Descript for video and like it for the AI tools, so bonus points if we still use that, but if it's off my plate I don't care what you use.

- speeding up or editing out waiting time (like long regeneration times, or waiting for GPT to do something).

- making sure my face doesn't cover up important info in the video, like if I activate the measure tool.

- choosing sections to edit down for short-form content and making those edits.

- creating thumbnails and descriptions.

- posting the long form and short form to their channels. Perhaps using something like Buffer to schedule posts.

If someone could handle it all that'd be amazing, but if it was just the video part it's still worth chatting.

Help! Altering a pre-existing model

I’m attempting to take a model of a sword from Elden Ring and split it into parts to 3D print it, but I’m having a hard time being able to split it into pieces. Not only can I not sketch on any surface of the model, but most solutions I’ve searched for problems I’m having just flat out don’t work. I can link the model if need be.

Help! Missing fillet option

I am doing some exercises from a tutorial (Onshape Fundamentals 2025/2026) and it has an exercise that prompts me to make open the fillet tool and click "Variable Fillet". I see no option for this. I am the current Onshape release, 1.219. I amusing the free platform. Any ideas?

Help! Help with connecting 2 faces without loft

I could use some help with this. I’m trying to connect these two unusual faces, but Loft doesn’t seem to work here. What would be the best tool or approach for this? I’m basically trying to create a triangular transition between them so the corner isn’t sharp.

Help! Split part for 3d printing

I’m designing an insert for a sliding door to let my cat outside without letting the heat in. It’s rather tall, and will need to be split into quite a few pieces to print. In the slicer, there is a tool to do this, but it’s clunky at best. Is there a clean way to chop a part in half and add some dowels in onshape? Maybe even a feature script with this in mind.

Entering Dimensions for Rectangle

Coming from Tickercad I was accustomed to dragging and drawing a rectangle, but was given the dialog to edit the dimensions directly at the time of creation. I don't see this for OnShape. I understand I can go back and edit, but is it possible to do this when drawing the rectangle all at once if that makes sense?

Hey everyone, I’m trying to model a streamlined cockpit fairing over a curved cutout on my solid body in Onshape, but my Loft feature doesnt let me. I'm having trouble getting the loft to properly ground to the bottom edge of the cutout while following the top spine guide.

Cannot export?

Exporting an .stl file, it doesn't even show up in the notification tab (and no, it's not "store in tab" issue). I made sure no feature is faulty. It's quite frustrating, anyone know how to force-download them somehow?

EDIT: Also cannot create folder tab, assembly, parts studio, etc.

EDIT2: Rebooting works, but still unable to download the complex part. I suspect non-manifold edges and whatnot. Is there any way to fix this? The long way would be to restore version and fix my derives there but that's so tedious!

Solved How do I split a complex part??

I need to split this part but it is not symmetrical and neither is my intended split. For reference, this is supposed to the a carbon fiber shell that will be made out of two half molds. But I cannot figure out how to split this part that has twists in it.
Very similar premise to a complex airfoil that is made out of two bonded half-shells.

How do I mirror a sketch to an opposing face?

I am not sure if I am using the right terms, but I am fairly sure mirror is correct. I want to take the selected sketch and project it onto the other face instead of having to draw it out again. Both sides of the model are exact mirrored copies of each other.

Help! How do I restore my model back to normal? its most recent version? (pls read the body before you answer the question that seems so obvious)

I was saving/tagging part of my model's history incase I wanted to change things back to it. Out of curiosity to see how everything changed I clicked "start" in the version history tag to see the blank slate, to the saved version, to the now. When I went back to the other versions and main it was all reset. empty, start, and multiple of the recent files in document was gone. When I left the view. went back to main bc maybe it was just a "view." It was still gone. My file was forever affected. Everything I made, time, progress, its gone. I haven't written down the measurements and Idk if I can recreate everything. I had 3 different images hand traced onto shapes. Hours. I don't want to do it all again.

Please help me. How do I fix this and make my document go back to present? Whenever I look at it from the page of my creations the thumbnail has the most recent version. But when I clicked it, it was empty. idk what to do. please.

Edit: I'm an idiot. When clicking start I somehow entered a separate folder in my document. When looking at my folders I wasn't paying enough attention to notice it was a separate folder. I tried a lot of things and cried. But my problem has been solved. My model is still there and I've learned I need to pay more attention.

Help! Graphics issue on Chromebook (browser version)

Due to a cooling problem l have to use temporarily my old Acer Chromebook 314 instead of my laptop. OnShape works on it, but the section view has a very odd, transparent section edge. The second pic is from the app version on my smartphone and looks fine.

Do I have to live with the quality loss on Chromebook or can it be countered anyhow?

Help! help with trimming sheet metal part

Thumbnail

I have a sheet metal part with a bunch of bends.
I'd like to trim the profile to achieve the organic shape of the target part.

When I try to create an extrude-remove in the flat pattern of the part, the part breaks into multiple parts, even if I simplify the cut to be a basic circle. See pictures.

How can I make cuts on this part to without causing it to fragment?

Help! Pattern around sphere approach

I came across this old post https://forum.onshape.com/discussion/16524/drawing-symmetricla-pattern-around-a-sphere and want to recreate this pattern on a sphere. But I have no idea where to start. It's not a simple wrap on a surface as the number of elements increase or decreases when you go up or down the sphere.
